Why Kroger Is Beating Out Whole Foods as America's Favorite Organic Grocery

Have you ever heard of the organic grocery line Simple Truth, sold at Kroger? According to Business Insider, it's officially more popular than Whole Foods. A report from Barclays analyst Karen Short discovered that Kroger sold $16 billion in organic foods last year, whereas Whole Foods only cashed in $15.8 billion. She says competitors like Kroger are devoting more shelf space to organic foods and meats at lower, more affordable prices, and consumers are catching on. Reasons such as this are why Whole Foods has lost 14 million customers in the past year and a half and possibly why Whole Foods has sought to make up for it by introducing its trendier, less expensive 365 stores.
