The DQ Blizzard You Know Has Been Turned Upside Down With This Healthy, Dairy-Free Version

If there's ever been a perfect at-home recipe for me to review, it's this one. My affinity for Dairy Queen dates way back. I was squeamish, uncooperative, and outright annoying at the dentist as a kid, but when I behaved calmly, my parents would treat me to DQ that night. Years later, my first summer job was at the local Dairy Queen, and to all you current and former DQ-ers out there, you know this is an experience unlike any other. Those dipped cones where you marveled at how it worked (I still wonder!), the Dilly bars, that wallpaper, and most of all, the Blizzards. Your favorite add-ins mixed with the vanilla base are still the ultimate treat, and DQ's constant stream of new flavors and seasonal versions will always keep you coming back.

But as nostalgic and perfect a Dairy Queen ice cream cone is on a hot day, I can be the first to tell you it may not be the healthiest option out there (but we knew this). I was notorious for stealing a bite or two (or eight) of Oreos as I refilled the ingredient tub or making any excuse to check on those dang frozen cookie dough balls for mixing.

But this TikTok from @wholesomehedonista is about to turn your Blizzard . . . right side up? We are already getting the ingredients out for this healthy, dairy-free version of the Dairy Queen Cookie Dough Blizzard recipe.

To make the vegan cookie dough chunks, mix together nut butter, maple syrup, almond flour, coconut flour, and chocolate chips (maybe make a little extra in case you eat one in the process). Then, blend coconut cream, nut butter, and bananas for the ice cream. Stir in the cookie dough balls and voilà! Optional: turn upside down if you want the full DQ experience.
