Pose actress Mj Rodriguez, also known as singer and performer Michaela Jaé, has made history as the first openly transgender woman to win a Golden Globe, claiming the award for best actress in a TV drama for her role as Blanca Evangelista in the FX series. She was also nominated for an Emmy last year for the same role. Her fashion moments — that glamorous Cannes debut comes to mind — are not exactly few and far between.

The 31-year-old played Blanca for three seasons on Pose, wrapping the show only to move onto other music and acting projects. Mj told InStyle ahead of her Emmy nomination: "There's a piece of the industry that does not see us as who we identify as and I think that's one of the reasons why they probably wouldn't give those [nomination] spaces to women like us. I think people need to respect and see us as who we are. Then we can move forward."
