For 1 Model, Lifting Weights While Pregnant Brings Out the Haters

She is certified in pre- and postnatal fitness and her husband is a dietitian and trainer, but that didn't stop a few of fitness model Sophie Guidolin's fans from freaking out that she lifted 66 pounds while pregnant with twins. While this weight was nowhere near her max, a number of commenters (mostly male, she said) on social media voiced their concern about her babies' safety. Sophie quickly responded, completely defending her decision: "There are so many myths, old wives tales & opinions out there it is hard to understand what is the truth and what is made up," she wrote on Instagram. "In my opinion, listen to noone except your qualified & trusted medical staff . . . each pregnancy is different & exercises that I or anyone else may be doing may not be safe for your body to perform."

Sophie hopes that her story will inspire other expecting mamas to stay strong and active during their pregnancies. "The pros of exercising during pregnancy definitely outweigh the cons," Sophie explained to The Daily Mail. "I really hope that pregnant women understand the benefits of exercising and a healthy lifestyle while pregnant." A safe fitness routine looks different for every pregnant woman, so don't start a brand-new workout program once you're expecting without talking to your doctor about what makes the most sense for your body.
