Now that cooler temps are moving in, there's nothing like warming yourself up with a bowl of hot oatmeal. Full of whole grain fiber, this breakfast will keep you satisfied all morning. Buying plain oats is healthier than buying packets that are already sweetened, and less expensive too, but that doesn't mean you have to go without flavor.

Add these delicious morsels to your half-cup serving of oatmeal.
- One small banana (diced), two tablespoons vanilla yogurt, and one tablespoon walnuts.
- Half a diced pear, one tablespoon pumpkin seeds, and one tablespoon of GoLean Crunch cereal or granola.
- Half a diced apple, two chopped dates, 10 chopped almonds, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
For other tasty ideas, keep reading.
- One tablespoon peanut butter, two tablespoons raisins, and one teaspoon maple syrup.
- One tablespoon almond butter, half a cup unsweetened applesauce, one teaspoon honey.
- Half a cup fresh or frozen blueberries, one tablespoon dried cherries, and one tablespoon chopped cashews.
- Half a cup chopped pineapple, one tablespoon raisins, and one tablespoon unsweetened shredded coconut.
- Half a cup sliced grapes, one tablespoon chopped peanuts, and one teaspoon dried cranberries.

a friend in college used to make oatmeal and put fat free sour cream in it..................... its UNBELIEVABLE. kind of similar to the FF yogurt thing but its tart and creamy and amazing.
1I love my oatmeal with pumpkin pie spice (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, & allspice mixed together) and walnuts. Yum.
2I'm totally on a kick with half a chopped apple and half an ounce of toasted, chopped pecans in mine. Add a dash of cinnamon and it's delish!
3soy milk, pepita seeds or walnuts, and cranberries
4I love mine with just a little bit of cinnamon. I think I may try the pupmkin pie spice though.
5agreed, pumpkin pie spice sounds amazing
6Everyone has such great ideas. Mamasitamalita - I'm really intrigued by the sour cream in oatmeal idea!
7You can also add a tablespoon of ground flaxseed meal and cinnamon.
8i put peanut butter and cashews and a banana (if i have it). and i've tried almonds too. yummm
9My favorite bowl is with bananas, cinnamon, ground flax & a Tbsp of almond butter.
10its DELICIOUS and unexpected, chloe!!
11I do the pumpkin pie spice as well--BUT I also add pureed pumpkin or pureed sweet potato.
12AH Anonymous beat me to it, I was going to suggest pureed sweet potato! I also like mine with agave syrup instead of brown sugar, when i eat with chopped apples and pecans.
131/2 c oats, 1T chopped walnuts, 1T sliced almonds, 2T dried cranberries w/ 1 c fat-free milk. Yum!
14My sweetie hipped me to oats last year.. Loves it..
I make mine with vanilla soy milk, splenda (or brown sugar), cranberries, 's'innamon, and nuts (walnuts or almonds)...
15During the summer, fresh peaches, walnuts and cinnamon make an unbelievable combination. Sadly peach season is over, so I'll try some of these other options.
16Pistachios and cranberries is what I have been doing lately.
17Zarah, you do oatmeal in the summer months? I opt for cold cereal when it's hot and Oats when the temps drop...
18My favorite thing to do when I have a bunch of apples around is to dice up half an apple and cook it with the oats and a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg. It's so good!
19I looooove oatmeal for breakfast - keeps me full all morning long! I've been on a baked oatmeal kick this entire week...check it out

20kclulu... I've never tried pistachios and cranberries. Do you use sweetened dried cranberries, fresh or frozen?
This may sound way out there, but you can also top your hot oatmeal with a poached egg and some salsa. Or you can have it raw in yogurt, or make your own oat bar by rolling raw oats, chopped almonds, shredded coconut, raisins and teaspoon of honey or molasses to bind it together.
21Dr. Jonny Bowden's favorite "raw foods" breakfasts is made of raw oats, almond slices, apple slices, flaked coconut, and Goji berries, moisten with some pomegranate juice. It's worth a try!
22I make my oatmeal with apple cider instead of water and a dash of pumpkin pie spice.
23I love doctoring up my oatmeal. This morning I had Irish steel cut oatmeal with a fried egg on top - so good! It was different as I usually go with fruit and nuts so this was a nice change of pace.
24LOL SweetNGlow I just saw your post #21 about the egg on the oatmeal (I didn't read it until after I posted mine lol)
251 cup steel-cut oats + 1/2 cup fresh raspberries + 1 tbsp crunchy peanut butter + a sprinkling of cinnamon = the perfect breakfast
26Kimpossible--we're a weird breed with our eggs on oatmeal!
27LOL Yes, I found that out yesterday when I was sharing this information with some people at the gym yesterday! It's ok I've been a weird breed all my life and I love it
28This morning I tried 1/2 c old fashioned oats, 1 tbsp of peanut butter and 1 tsp of real maple syrup. It was so good and kept me full all morning. I usually have a 10am snack, but I wasn't even hungry this time. I want to try the banana/yogurt one next. I almost did that one this morning but I only had Greek yogurt and I thought it would be better w/ regular.
29oats are my fav. they're great with protein powder, banana, and soymilk. YUM!
30I looove it with applesauce...mmm!
31Steel cut cooked, but cooled with a tablespoon of cherry juice concentrate.
32I like what I consider "peanut butter and jelly" oatmeal, with 1/2-1 tbsp of cashew (or almond) butter, 3/4-1 cup chopped up strawberries and 1/2 tbsp agave nectar. It's sooo good and keeps me satisfied for hours. (I'm guessing it's the fat in the cashew butter?)
Usually though I have it with cinnamon and some sort of berry, but now I'm intrigued by the pumpkin pie spice idea, in fact all of the ideas sound good!
