Turns out excessive texting can get you more than a hefty phone bill. Though it's the preferred choice of easy communication for young adults and teens, a new study reveals that texting can actually increase upper body pain in the neck and shoulders.
Though this is only a preliminary study, the research shows that the same neck and shoulder discomfort seen in working adults is now being seen in college students between the ages of 18 and 21, specifically males.

The other night, I went to a concert with a few of my friends. After the initial bag check and ticket scan from security, we saw large signs at the entrance to the venue reading, "The artists ask that you set your phones to vibrate and refrain from texting and other cell phone use during the performance." While I'm used to signs asking concert-goers not to take photos or videos during the show, this was the first ban on texts or cell phone use I'd seen during a concert.

Text messaging has become as much a form of communication as an old-fashioned phone call. What's different about texting, though, is that it's a (mostly) silent activity that can conceivably be done on the sly.
I've talked about texting while driving, texting and dating, and texting while dining.

I was out with a group of girlfriends last week when one of them received a text from a guy she'd gone on a few dates with. It read, "Great time last night ;)" — with the winking emoticon. Apparently after every single text he sends (and sometimes midtext, too), he includes an emoticon.

Got a burning question for your doctor during non-office hours? Skip the overnight answering service and just text her! Expectant mamas who find themselves wondering why their breasts are leaking in the weeks before delivery or if it is safe to take medication for a headache don't always have to wait for the phones to open at 9 a.m.

In California, if you're caught chatting on the phone while driving, you're slapped with a $25 fine. Personally, I think that texting while driving is a much more dangerous offense — you may need to use both hands and are forced to take your eyes off the road.
Although the idea of a texting while driving ban has been discussed, there's no official law just yet.

If you do, that might mean you suck at it.
Although we hear all the time that women are better at multitasking than men, a new study says that regardless of gender, media multitaskers (those who simultaneously use their computers, watch TV or text on their phones, for example) aren't as good at doing several things at once as they think they are.
The study was initiated when researchers asked themselves what it was about "high multitaskers" that allowed them to do what they do so well.

There are so many silly dating games that people play in order not to look too eager or worse, desperate. I knew a married woman who carried her playing hard to get into her marriage! I was shocked when she told me that she never, ever called her husband; she waited for him to call her and took her sweet time getting back to him.

My husband is having a text relationship with one of his co-workers. They text back and forth about stupid stuff, but it always has a flirtatious tone. I know it is just text messaging, but it really upsets me to the point where I am thinking about divorcing him.
