Don't confuse a spring onion with its close counterpart, the long, thin scallion (or green onion).

Recently, Party and I partook in Edible Pursuit, a food trivia event produced by Edible San Francisco. While there, we tackled a surprisingly difficult question about which fruits ripen on the vine.
Since Spring means the onset of some of our favorite fresh fruits, we thought we would test you to see if you can tell us which seasonal fruits continue to ripen after they've been picked.

Spring doesn't officially start until tomorrow, but judging by the produce that's popping up at the farmers market, the season's already begun. Although the assortment of produce seems to be more varied when the weather is warmer, I encountered an unusual fruit on a recent trip to the farmers market: the sweet lime. Also referred to as a Palestine sweet lime, the citrus fruit is native to India, where it's used medicinally to allay upset stomachs, nausea, and throat infections. It's still somewhat obscure in America, but the hardy lime, which blooms in Winter and Spring, has long been commercially grown in Vietnam, Egypt, along the Mediterranean coastline, and in states such as California and Florida.

After showing a magical Spring '10 collection at Paris Fashion Week, it's shocking to hear that Luella has ceased all operations. The brand's licensee, Club 21, just announced it has "taken the decision not to invest further in its relationship with Luella Bartley Limited."
Furthermore, the production of Luella's Spring '10 collection has been put to a stop since its ready-to-wear producer, Carla Carini, had to shutter its doors unexpectedly.

After months of butternut squash and other seasonal Winter produce, I was happy to see many of my Spring favorites appearing at the grocery store and farmers markets. Eating seasonally is not only cheaper, but the produce is tastier, fresher, and more nutritious when in season. Be on the lookout for these fruits and veggies on the shelves of your market.

Steve Madden collaborated on the Elizabeth and James footwear collection, so it's no surprise the brand has teamed up with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's new venture, Olsenboye. The shoe company is set to produce a collection of footwear and accessories that include suede flats, canvas sneakers, slouchy plaid handbags, and small bucket bags. Starting this Friday, Nov.

Along with English Peas and a number of lesser-known vegetables, baby artichokes are in abundance during March, April, and May. The petite-sized baby artichokes are simply a smaller version of any regular-sized variety that's been picked from the shaded, lower part of the artichoke stalk. They have little to no developed fuzz in their center and a greater amount of edible leaves.
