The relationship between itches and scratching just got a little more complicated. A new study on scratching (yes, scientists study actions as seemingly banal as scratching) revealed that the act of scratching actually reduces activity in the brain region associated with negative emotions and unpleasant memories. This could be why scratching that itch feels so good.

I'm already starting my Christmas shopping list (the early bird gets the worm, right?), and one of the people at the top is my cat-loving pal. So while brainstorming what to get her (and kitty) for the holiday, I came across the Scratch Lounge, and was totally blown away by the testimonials of how much cats love it!
At first glance, the Scratch Lounge is just a simple three-sided scratcher that doubles as a sleeping spot.

The latest book from Food & Wine, Quick from Scratch Chicken Cookbook ($25), might be dedicated entirely to chicken, but it is by no means boring. We all know that chicken is a wonderful lean protein, but cooking a boneless, skinless breast can become awfully dull. This cookbook is the antidote to monotonous chicken.

Ever since I became the proud owner of an Apple iPhone, I've gone to great measures to make sure the screen stays protected from scratches.
Now I'm not exactly sure if the iPod Touch has the same screen exterior as the iPhone, but if it does I think it's safe to say that I don't have to worry about scratching my phone. This awesome video, which I spotted on techfresh, demonstrates the durability of the new iPod Touch's screen as it resists damage from keys, a pin and even a razor blade—proving that the screen is not as fragile as one might think.

Ever since Rock Band and Guitar Hero hit the scene, music games have increased in popularity with hard-core gamers and casual gamers alike. And not surprisingly, DJ Hero ($120) was one of the most popular demos at E3, especially after its star-studded preview party in LA. But as you know, there will always be more than one game competing for your buck.
