When buying organic and natural-food brands, such as Kashi and Naked Juice, you may think you're supporting small, independent companies. But often these brands are actually owned by major conglomerates: Kellogg, in the case of Kashi, and Pepsi for Naked Juice.
I was excited to find this very cool chart in the latest issue of Good magazine, which breaks down most of the major natural brands by their corporate owners.

Have you guys tried Naked Juice? You'd think with a name like that, this drink would be made with just fruit juice. Even with the fine print at the bottom of the label that reads "with added ingredients" I was still more focused on the word naked, thinking this smoothie would be unadulterated.

In honor of today being 420, and this weekend being Earth Day, I thought it would be fun to create my own green cocktail. I was brainstorming ingredients and wanted something that was healthy and alcoholic. If tomato juice and orange juice are mixed with vodka to make super tasty drinks, why not mix together Naked Juice's (which, in case you haven't noticed, is all the rage now...

Have you ever tried Bossa Nova Açai Juice ($3). In case you've never heard of açai (pronounced ah-sci-ee), they are small, dark purple berries that grow on palm trees found in the Brazilian rainforest. Recently, they have been called the "world's healthiest fruit," because they're so high in antioxidants and naturally low in sugar.

Risk with cardiovascular medications
While nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are the major medications responsible for causing peptic ulcers, drugs taken for cardiovascular disease and its risk factors may also cause ulcers. Recent studies have found an association between increased risk of ulcer and the following drugs:
- Spironolactone, a common diuretic used in heart failure
- Niacin, a drug used to lower "bad" cholesterol and raise "good" cholesterol
- Vitamin K antagonists, commonly prescribed anticoagulants
- Dipyridamole, a drug for secondary stroke prevention
- Low-dose aspirin, prescribed for both heart attack and stroke prevention
Risk of peptic ulcer increases dramatically when these drugs are used in combination. Considering the millions of people who take these medications to prevent a life-threatening cardiovascular event, their impact on peptic ulcer development could be monumental.

Times they are a changin'— granola has evolved from hippie to just plain hip. I just tried a few flavors of Feed Granola ($5.99/12 ounce bag) which hails all the way from the West Village in NYC. You can't get much hipper than that.

Super Bowl Sunday is just a few days away and slowly but surely I'm putting together my blowout bash. In order for me not to get overwhelmed when planning a party, I like to do it in little increments. The invitations one day, the menu the next, and so on and so forth until the entire fete is prepared.

Kirsten Dunst stuck to her uniform — sunglasses, Naked Juice, BlackBerry, comfy outfit — walking around Chelsea on Saturday staying cool in the NYC heat. For a girl who is linked to so many different guys, we sure do see a lot of Kirsten strolling solo. Even so, considering that phone is always in hand, she doesn't seem to be living up to her new movie about losing friends or alienating people.

Kirsten had her white Wayfarers on and Naked Juice in hand while doing her usual stroll in Soho yesterday. The actress chatted it up on the phone and although some might think she’s talking to her supposed new guy/Drew's ex Justin Long, there's yet another man Kirsten is being linked to. Dunst supposedly followed Emile Hirsch to the Bowery Electric club all by herself.

I recently told you about my brother who has "NO time for food." He works a lot and doesn't have a girlfriend, so it's up to me to make sure his diet doesn't consist of Taco Bell and In-N-Out. To surprise him I'm sending a care package, that you helped put together, full of healthy snacks, tasty treats and good almost-homemade food.
