It is officially Spring (even though in some parts of the country it might not feel like it) and I think a great way to celebrate the season change is flying a kite. Since March comes in like a lion, getting a kite in the air is a way to take advantage of all that blustery wind.
I am not going to lie to you, flying a kite is not the most strenuous workout, but rather something a little more Zen.

In honor of International Picnic Day and the official start of summer, June 21st, I'm planning a kite flying picnic at the beach. Now I know not everyone has access to the beach, but this party can be hosted at a lake shore, a park, a vineyard, etc. All week I'll take you through the steps to host a successful, memorable afternoon-into-evening picnic.

Even though summer solstice is still a few weeks away, since Memorial Day weekend is here I feel summer has officially begun. One of the ways I like to celebrate summer is getting out and flying a kite.
I know it sounds like a bad Charlie Brown moment, but I love going kite flying.

Forget football and skip shopping. Take today to spend some quality time with your kids and go fly a kite. If the climate in your area isn't fit for kite flying, choose another outdoor activity.

There's something pretty undeniably precious about Leo and Bar at a kite store in LA last week. They were buying a kite! Presumably to then fly the kite on the beach or something equally cute.

Gwen Stefani stepped out in LA yesterday to take care of some business, but across town Kingston was having all the fun. Looking typically cool in his shades, the little guy played with a scooter and a kite, keeping a huge grin on his face even when he took a tumble. Gavin had plans of his own as he took the stage to perform at the "One Splendid Evening" concert last night.

April is National Kite Month, and I think we should all celebrate this high flying holiday.
Twenty minutes of kite flying burns about 100 calories, so imagine how many you can burn kite flying for an entire afternoon. Meditating on the beauty of a colorful kite as it dances in the wind is bound to alleviate unhealthful stress.

The point of a picnic is to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors with the family. I am an admitted foodie, but not going to break the bank by packing a gourmet meal for our afternoon adventures with the kids. They dine and dash toward the swings leaving my husband and I to scarf up what we can before chasing them around.

Amy Winehouse is continuing to enjoy the horse riding, kite flying and friendships of St Lucia, even after scalding her leg when preparing food for pals on the island. She's so happy in her warm environment that she apparently wants to stay in St Lucia permanently and is already looking into buying a house. The singer has reportedly told friends that the Caribbean island "feels like home" and she "felt like a total outsider" when she returned to the UK in March.

I don't know about you, but the insult "go fly a kite" never sounded all that insulting. Kiteflying is delightful! If anyone actually said that to me, I'd be all, "OK."
