I'm sure you haven't been holding your breath for this release, but if the business side of beauty has always been as intriguing to you as it has to me, I think you'll find the statistics of the top 100 beauty company earners of 2008 quite interesting. The glosses, fragrances and pick-me-up eye shadows that we buy to make ourselves look and feel better add up to some serious poundage and have made brands a full fledged fortune. In '08 alone, the cosmetics industry have scrounged together a whopping $168.21 Billion (that's roughly £105 Billion).

I'm pretty picky when it comes to self tanners. I like to make it look as though I'm glowing from within and have a light bronzey tone my skin tone as opposed to pasty, white and lifeless. This means that if a tanning product even remotely streaks or makes me look yellow or orange, it gets binned immediately.

Johnson and Johnson has just announced that 4 million bottles of Listerine Agent Cool Blue (Glacier Mint and Bubble Blast flavors) are contaminated by microorganisms. Don't know if you can tell by the names of the products, but they are mouthwashes for children.
The recall covers all lots sold or distributed since the product’s launch last year.

If you are a blonde (whether natural or not) like me, you know that your roots can start to look a little greasy if you don't wash your hair every day. A cool tip that I learned that I wanted to pass along is that a little dash of Baby Powder can help absorb the oils.
So, the next time you don't have time to wash and dry your hair before running out the door, just sprinkle a little powder and you are good to go!

The family company known for its "no more tears" shampoo has been asked by 40 parent, healthcare, and environmental organizations to remove known chemicals from its products by the end of the year. One report said:
The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics reported in March that it found Johnson & Johnson's Baby Shampoo and other children's products contained formaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane, both of which have been found to cause cancer in animals and listed by the Environmental Protection Agency as probable human carcinogens.
A Johnson & Johnson representative said the trace levels were considered safe by some regulatory agencies.

Betsey Johnson is diving headfirst into her first hotel collaboration with a suite inspired by Kay Thompson's Eloise for New York's most prestigious address, The Plaza Hotel. Once the dust of New York Fashion Week settles, she is due to begin designing a two-bedroom suite in the character's signature pink-and-black palette. This shouldn't be much of a stretch for the designer, who dressed her own Manhattan penthouse in head-to-toe pink (shown left).
