Health Confessional: Share It and Move On

Confessing my health and fitness slip-ups to you makes me feel human again, especially after reading your confessions. I've got a new one to make . . .

There was a little too much ole in my Cinco de Mayo celebration. I got carried away at a Mexican potluck I attended last night and am paying a pretty peso for my dining decisions today. Somehow, a few harmless chips dipped in guacamole turned into more chips and five-layer dip, a couple carnitas tacos dressed with sour cream, two helpings of cheesy Mexican lasagna, and a decadent chile-spiced brownie à la mode for good measure. And, yes, there were margaritas. As you can imagine, I rolled myself home feeling a bit ill.

So there you have it, I've told you mine, now you tell me yours. Got anything you need to get off your chest? Share your health blunders below and I promise you'll feel better. We all are human, and we all make mistakes, and we all move on.

Source

I've got a new one to make . . .

Super Bowl Sunday might as well have been super food Sunday for me - and I'm not talking about the healthy variety. I went to a neighbor's house to watch the game and had the best intentions to keep the junk to a minimum. But as the marathon game went on, I kept reaching for the bad stuff and just couldn't stop.

The gooey mozzarella sticks had me at the first bite, and and I ventured onto countless saucy buffalo wings and pizza during half-time. I returned to the table multiple times during the second half for my fill of nachos and guacamole, chips and cheesy dip, and topped off the whole shebang with a big frosted cupcake. Needless to say, I had a wicked stomachache by the final whistle.

So there you have it, I've told you mine, now you tell me yours. Got anything you need to get off your chest? Share your health blunders below and I promise you'll feel better. We all are human, and we all make mistakes, and we all move on.

Health Confessional: Share It and Move On

Confessing my health and fitness slip-ups to you guys make me feel human again, especially after reading everyone else's confessions. I've got a new one to make . . .

Here at the Sugar HQ, we have taco day. This means we all chow down on yummy tacos, chips, quesadillas, and more. Last taco day, I think I went a little overboard. Instead of sticking to filling one plate with all the goodies, I decided to completely ignore my own best intentions and go for two plates. I'm not saying I went back for seconds, no that would have seemed better. Rather, I piled two dinner-sized plates with food and took them back to my desk and ate until they were both empty. I felt super sluggish afterward and have learned my lesson. From now on, taco day is a one-plate affair.

I've got a new one to make . . .

The weekend is behind us and as I mentioned before, Friday through Sunday can be the hardest on our healthy lifestyles and this past weekend really gave me a run for my money. The biggest problem is that I've rediscovered Krispy Kreme donuts. My parents were in town the other weekend and my dad has an affinity for Krispy Kremes. He bought a dozen of them one morning and it's been downhill for me ever since. I've been craving, buying, and eating them on a somewhat daily basis. There is just something about a warm donut that gets me every time. But starting today I'm off the donuts and back on the egg whites and fruit.

So there you have it, I've told you mine, now you tell me yours. Got anything you need to get off your chest? Share you health blunders below and I promise you'll feel better. We all are human, and we all make mistakes, and we all move on.

Health Confessional: Share It and Move On

Confessing my health and fitness slip-ups to you guys make me feel human again, especially after reading everyone else's confessions. I've got a new one to make . . .

Last weekend was, as we all know, a holiday weekend. Somehow I ended up at three BBQs and somehow I totally forgot my own tips for keeping grilling healthy. Not only did I eat far more s'mores than I'd care to say out loud, I also indulged on one too many adult cocktails, hamburgers, and spoonfuls of potato salad. I told myself I was going to go on a hike one day, a run the next day, with the third day of the three day weekend dedicated to biking. All I did was bike. I never even laced up my sneaks once. Today I feel a bit sluggish (and guilty) but I've got my gym bag packed and it's back to healthy living.

So there, I've confessed - hey, it happens right? Now it's your turn. Do you have anything you want to confess and get off your chest after this holiday weekend of celebrating? It helps knowing that we all make mistakes and that life, and health, does indeed go on.

Confessing my health and fitness slip-ups to you guys make me feel human again, especially after reading everyone else's confessions. I've got a new one to make . . .

I've purchased and gobbled down a various form of bagel for breakfast everyday for the past week. Now, I'm not talking about a mini-whole wheat bagel with light cream cheese on the side. I'm talking egg, sausage, and cheese on a huge NY style everything bagel - and I don't even usually like sausage! I seriously don't know what's come over me, especially since I am fully aware how many calories are in one bagel before all the tasty trimmings. Starting today I am going back to my usual oatmeal with fruit starter but I'm not going to lie, my naughty week of bagel sandwiches was amazing.

So there, I've confessed - hey, it happens right? Now it's your turn. Do you have anything you want to confess and get off your chest? It helps knowing that we all make mistakes and that life, and health, does indeed go on.

Health Confessional: Share It and Move On

OK, so I recently confessed to downing a whole sleeve of Girl Scout cookies to you guys and I felt great afterwards, especially after reading everyone else's confessions. I've got a new one to make . . .

The other day my husband made a date to run together after work. When we got home from a long day, I told my husband that I had a headache coming on and that I probably shouldn't run, so he went without me. Well, I didn't really have a headache. Granted I did feel a tiny little something in my head, but I am not sure it could've qualified as a headache as much as how my head usually feels after work. And let's be honest, it was nothing that would have prevented me from having a nice jog with my hubby. I will say that I felt guilty the entire time and the guilt I felt while he was running and I was lying on the couch, was hardly worth it.

So there, I've confessed - hey, it happens right? Now it's your turn. Do you have anything you want to confess and get off your chest? It helps knowing that we all make mistakes and that life does indeed go on.

Speak Up: This Is Your Health Confessional

I have a confession to make. Somewhere in between American Idol and Top Chef, I ate an entire sleeve of Thin Mints on Wednesday night. All this preaching about moderation and I completely fell off the wagon. I do feel better after coming clean, but I just wanted to get it out so I could move on as well as let you know that it happens - even to the best of us. Nothing a few workouts won't fix, right?

Do you have anything you want to confess? Speak up and share them below. It helps knowing that we all make mistakes and that life does indeed go on.

Health Confessional: Share It and Move On

Confessing my health and fitness slip-ups to you guys make me feel human again, especially after reading everyone else's confessions. I thought it might be wise to enter into Thanksgiving week with a clean <strike>plate</strike> conscience so I've have a new confession to make . . .

The other morning at the grocery store, I innocently slipped a bag of Barbara's Cheesy Puffs into my cart. This is not an item I usually buy, but for some reason I did not question my actions. Minutes after unloading my groceries, I opened the puffs and began to snack. I know that even though these cheesy puffs are "all natural" and made with "real cheese" they are not a health food, regardless of being sold in many health-food stores. Over the course of the day I ate the entire bag - seven servings. Needless to say, I had no appetite for dinner and my tongue hurt. I felt rather crappy for a couple of days after gorging myself on cheesy puffs.

So there you have it, I've told you mine, now you tell me yours. Got anything you need to get off your chest? Share your health blunders below and I promise you'll feel better. We all are human, and we all make mistakes, and we all move on.

Biden Bumps Into Iraq, Abortion, and Palin on Meet the Press

Democratic VP nominee Joe Biden made his 42nd appearance yesterday on Meet the Press. Tom Brokaw asked him some tough questions, often reciting previous Biden statements from many years past. Here's a rundown on how Biden met questions about the surge, abortion, religion, and the latest addition to the race, Sarah Palin.

On Sunni/Shia cooperation in Anbar:
It's still - it's a big problem, Tom. . . . We're paying 300 bucks a month to each of those guys. Now the problem has been and the promise was made by Maliki that they (Shia) would be integrated into the overall military. That's a process that is beginning in fits and starts now, but it's far from over.

On a timed withdrawal of American troops:
Whether or not the surge worked is almost irrelevant now. We're in a new deal. What is the administration doing? They're doing what Barack Obama has suggested over 14 months ago, turn responsibility over and draw down our troops. . . . The only guy in America out of step is John McCain. John McCain's saying no timeline.

On Iraq, the surge, and political reconciliation:
The surge helped make that (reduction in sectarian violence) possible. What made it possible in Anbar province is they did what I'd suggested two and a half years ago: gave local control. They turned over and they said to the Sunnis in Anbar province, "We promise you, don't worry, you're not going to have any Shia in here. There's going to be no national forces in here. We're going to train your forces to help you fight al-Qaeda." . . . What you had was the awakening. The awakening was not an awakening by us, it was an awakening of the Sunnis in Anbar province willing to fight.

To see what Biden had to say about his view on abortion as a Catholic, and for his view on Republican counterpart Sarah Palin, read more.

On abortion:
It is a personal and private issue. For me as a Roman Catholic I'm prepared to accept the teaching of my church. But let me tell you, there are a lot of people of great confessional faiths, Protestants, Jews, Muslims and others, who have a different view. They believe in God as strongly as I do. They're intently as religious as I am religious. They believe in their faith and they believe in human life, and they have differing views. I'm prepared as a matter of faith to accept that life begins at the moment of conception, but that is my judgment. For me to impose that judgment on everyone else who is equally, maybe even more devout than I am, seems to me is inappropriate in a pluralistic society. . . . What I've voted against is curtailing the right, criminalizing abortion. I've voted against telling everyone else in the country that they have to accept my religiously based view, that it's at moment of conception.

Would he debate her any differently because she's a woman?
There's a lot of very tough, smart women in the United States Senate I debate every day. It's not new.

On Palin's policies:
I have no idea what her policies are. I assume they're the same as John's. I just don't know. . . . She didn't mention a word about health care, a word about the environment, a word about the middle class. They never parted her lips . . . so I don't know where she is on those things.

Are you eager to see Sarah Palin enter and defend her positions on the TV program of record?
