The cooler temps of late Autumn spark what we call in our house the thermostat wars. A recent study conducted in three university dining halls found that women changed their food choices depending on the gender of their companions.
When eating one-on-one with a guy, the girls ate foods that contained significantly fewer calories than when eating with female companions. The study found a couple more examples of behavior worth noting that were published in the journal Appetite:
Overall, group size was not a significant predictor of calories, but women's calories were negatively predicted by numbers of men in the group, while the numbers of women in the group had a marginally significant positive impact on calorie estimates.

It turns out, the difference between men and women's salaries is smaller than we thought — as long as those salaries aren’t very big to begin with. A new study from PayScale.com compared salaries across 90 different jobs, adjusting for any outside factors that might affect the salary (the location of the job, the worker’s education, etc.) except for the worker’s gender. What they found was surprising — to see the results, read on.

Random people always want to take a guess at a baby-to-be's gender based on the expecting mother's girth, fullness of face, morning sickness, or other factors. There may be some truth to those pregnancy myths, but I decided to be surprised in the delivery room. Now that I'm on the other side, I can look back and see differences between my pregnancies.

Life may be better since the fall of the Berlin Wall, but is sex? It was at first. Prostitutes came in vans, porn was everywhere, and sex shops opened like wine bars in a gentrifying neighborhood.
