On Our Radar: TRAID Collaborate with Timberland
Eco fashion brand TRAIDremade have teamed up with Timberland this season to create a limited edition set of handbags. Typical to TRAIDremade's philosophy they're produced out of recycled denim and leather including reconditioned Timberland shirts and jackets.
Head of TRAIDremade Paula Kirkwood said, “It’s incredibly exciting to have created this collection of TRAIDremade bags for Timberland.
Lily Cole is Saving Trees
Lily Cole recently launched a sheep-friendly knitwear collection which helped rescued animals. She has now upped her eco credentials by becoming part of the Sky Rainforest Rescue campaign. She was posing yesterday at Kew Gardens in West London to launch the project which is aimed at preserving more than three million hectares of trees in Acre, north west Brazil.
FABTV: Vivienne Westwood on Climate Change
On Friday night, Dame Vivienne Westwood once again appeared on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross as she discussed the growing problems with climate change. The designer seemed genuinely upset with the state of the environment and urged everyone to sign up to Prince Charles' campaign to save the rainforest. When asked if these issues overlapped with her own role as a fashion designer Vivienne argued that she was asking people to shop wisely and to wear something (preferably of hers) until it wears out.

On Our Radar: Eco Bags by Salvatore Ferragamo
The it-bag has been pushed aside lately to make room for the it-scarf, but Salvatore Ferragamo has found a new way to hold our attention — by creating a line of environmentally friendly bags.
The collection includes five eco handbags which are made from soft Italian leather are called Eco Ferragamo. The eco part lies in the details as the bags were tanned with natural products making the leather biodegradable and water-resistant.

Kate Bosworth headed to San Francisco last night to attend the Global Green USA’s Gorgeous & Green event. She looked amazing in a dress from 3.1 Phillip Lim's Spring 2009 collection. Her version of the dress was actually specially made for her being produced from solely green materials.

Fab Flash: Stella McCartney Garden is Given a Home
Cast your mind back to October 2007 when florals were just a twinkle in our fashion eye. Stella McCartney showed her floral inspired collection in Paris in front of an impressively green backdrop featuring 30 plant species. Typically McCartney had her eye on the ethical implications of her show and did not want all the plants to simply be used in a twenty-minute fashion show so donated the plants to disadvantaged residents in Boulogne-Billancourt outside Paris.
Fabworthy: Eco T-shirts
Whilst researching for Earth Day yesterday I came across many eco t-shirts raising money for a variety of causes. A lot of them feature funky prints on a plain background which is perfect for Spring/Summer with similar styles featuring at Luella and Alexander McQueen.
I already told you about the Luella for Tonic Gen tees but there are also organic cotton tops and a fair trade 'Serene in green' t-shirt from Topshop's fairtrade collection.
