Unfortunately there is no easy, pain free way to cure a broken heart. If you have ever loved, chances are you have felt heartache as well. Some people like to wallow in self pity while others turn to a nice bottle of Merlot and a great friend in an attempt to get over a broken heart.

When I was young I figured out how to give myself the hiccups, really loud frog like ones, and would do exactly that during sermons at church. My mother would whisper angrily to me to go play outside. I would run to the playground and hang out until I knew it was time to go back in and sit down for the last few minutes.

Given that some say we're in the middle of a food revolution, and local, sustainable, home-grown produce is popping up everywhere, it's only logical that an uptick in home preserving will happen, too. Enter Karen Solomon's Jam It, Pickle It, Cure It, a new book that's focused on making your own artisanal food products, either to keep or to give as gifts. The tome isn't simply limited to fruit jellies and quick pickles — it also includes instructions on making everything from flatbread to watermelon Popsicles to chai tea.

Children are the future so I was surprised to learn that while youngsters represent 20 percent of the US population, a much smaller fraction of national funding is allotted to finding cures for pediatric illnesses. Children’s Hospital Boston, one of the most well-known children’s hospitals in the country, hopes to raise awareness of this issue, and financial support for medical research, through their web-based philanthropic community for kids.
Generation Cures offers stories, games and original kid-directed video content to inspire kids to care about others, understand the concept of giving and believe they can make a difference in the world.

You know how you can go to Walgreens, and the bottom of the shelf has a bunch of unusual products you've never heard of? Well, I saw Nature's Cure Acne Treatment ($9.99), a homeopathic remedy for acne, and thought it sounded a bit quacky. After all, I'd had bad luck with a previous fling with supplements.

No video beats Michael Jackson's Thriller when it comes to Halloween time, and time in general — it is an eternal masterpiece. But I did my best to dig up another spooky vid. Spooky bands .
