The annual San Francisco Silent Film Festival is coming my way in July and it'll take place at the beautiful and charming Castro theater (which comes complete with an organist who plays spirited tunes just before the movies start). It's a great, old place to check out some great, old silent films.
If you think about it, many children's cartoons are like silent films — all expressive movements and grand reactions and not much dialogue, if any.

Director, musician, comedian and performer Charlie Chaplin's authentic Bell and Howell cinematic camera was auctioned off at Christie's in London yesterday. The official selling price has not been announced just yet, but the estimated value was said to be around $180,000.
Purchased in 1918 for $2000, right after Chaplin moved from England to the US, this infamous 2709 model camera was used to make many of Chaplin's silent films such as the acclaimed "The Great Dictator" and "Modern Times."

These Burfitt creations have been the talk of the town lately owing to the famous face drawn on to them. Kate Moss posed for Swedish designer Lovisa Burfitt who drew Kate as a clown, a court jester and as Charlie Chaplin.
My-wardrobe buyer Joanne Watkinson explained to Vogue, "The element that attracted the buying team to the Burfitt collection was the unique illustrations.

Robert Pattinson arrived in NYC last night flying in from LA after Sunday's MTV Movie Awards — but let's rewind back to the post-show afterparty for two. Robert and Kristen Stewart were spotted leaving the Charlie Chaplin House at the same time on Monday morning after they both spent the night in the boutique hotel. After cleaning up at the awards, the costars also shared an intimate dinner date at Cecconi's rather than attending the official party.

All our Sugar sites are bringing you gift ideas for grandfathers today, so I've selected some classic films, DVDs and songs that have stood the test of time: they're oldies but goodies!
First off are musicals for the grandpa who loves the glamour of the old days, from Singin' in the Rain and a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers collection, to a box set of classic movies.
If your granddad is particularly nostalgic, you could treat him to black and white classics, from Charlie Chaplin to the humour of a Norman Wisdom or Laurel & Hardy collection.

Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch got all decked out for Halloween on last night's episode of The Office. Stanley wore a mask so he could discreetly sleep, Kelly dressed as Carrie Bradshaw, Phyllis was Raggedy Ann, Ryan was Gordon Gekko, Andy wore a kitten costume, and Dwight and Kevin both showed up as the Joker. Pam didn't know the tradition was limited to the Scranton branch and went to work in the New York office dressed as Charlie Chaplin, where nobody else wore a costume.

You've seen Rachel Bilson's Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans collection on the models and now you're seeing it on the designer. I have to say, I admire celebrity designers who actually wear their creations. Rachel promoted her new line over the weekend in Florida and decided to go the highly androgynous route in a black cropped blazer, menswear shirt with black tie from her collection, and a bowler hat.
