As a mom, I have learned that one can expect the unexpected at any time. This past Saturday started out with high hopes and promises. To get our day started, I took my tots to a jumpy house birthday soiree that was blessed with clear blue skies and red velvet cupcakes.

If your July entails squeezing in one last road trip, you might want to read up on motion sickness. It is actually quite common; about one third of the population experiences symptoms in relatively mild circumstances, like being on a boat in calm water. In fact, the word nausea means seasick in Greek.

Last week you told us stories about your child getting sick or excreting on you — one of motherhood's right of passage. No mum is always prepared when she leaves the house.
If you have a child prone to car sickness, or if you are experiencing a rough case of morning sickness, you might want to add the YakPack ($8) to your grab and go pile.

The Tuesday night CW block made a particularly strong showing this week. Personally, I thought 90210 had one of its best episodes of the season — nice character development, a few teary moments, and some "oh no she didn't" disses. And as for Melrose Place, I've got two words for you: Heather Locklear.

Is the recession making workers sick? All signs point to yes — at least where attendance records are concerned. CareerBuilder’s annual survey on absenteeism says one-third of workers have skipped work when they were feeling fine at least once this year.

The series premiere of Melrose Place delivered an abounding dose of drama and some flashy tech toys and references. I was thrilled to see the show upgrade from the giant car phones of the original series (naturally — it's been a while), and make some legitimately geeky references. Could this be the new trendy tech show of the season?

"I had just put the casket in the hearse and I was watching it drive away when a beautiful blonde woman comes up and embraces me. I said to her, ‘You have a drink on you? You have a car?’ She said, 'Daddy, it's me — Tatum!'
