I don't have to read about the shortage of swine flu vaccine, I'm living it. Everywhere I go to get vaccinated it's the same — there are not enough shots to go around. Supplies are extremely limited, and a recent poll conducted by Harvard University School of Public Health says that 70 percent of adults and 66 percent of children who tried to get vaccinated couldn’t.

We're in the heart of Winter and about half of you have managed to remain healthy this season. Props to your immune systems for protecting you from getting sick, and hopefully you can keep up the health streak as the height of flu season approaches. Typically, flu season doesn't peak until February, so there's still time to get your flu shot if you've been putting it off.

In case you haven't heard, flu season is upon us. Each year, approximately one in 100 tots are hospitalized for the flu and between 75 and 150 children succumb to it. Unlike last year, the Centers for Disease Control says that this year's vaccine should be more successful than last year's serum.

My aching right arm is evidence that I've just gotten my annual flu shot. I've been getting them for years, and I'm a strong believer in the shots but I know many folks are opposed to the vaccination. So I am curious, will you be getting a flu shot this year?

Most tots don't like getting shots and many parents can't bear to watch, but it seems the process will continue as federal officials are now recommending that all children between six months and eighteen years of age get the flu shot. This will protect an additional 30 million minors. A CNN article said:The age group was expanded this year because children are two to three times more likely to contract the disease than are adults, said Dr.

I happened to get a flu shot, as did all the members of my family. Only my husband caught the nasty bug this year. He still ended up getting sick with a high fever, a nasty sore throat, coughing, and a stuffy nose.

While I was traveling over the Thanksgiving holiday I noticed an odd occurrences at the airport that I had never witnessed before — flu shots. Did anyone else see this? I kid you not, there were at least three flu shot stands scattered throughout the Chicago airport.

It seems reasonable to say that everyone wants to avoid catching the flu and for that reason many people get vaccinated for the flu. Even though the flu shot isn't guaranteed to protect you against all types of the flu, it is recommended for many populations, like moms and children under five. Some people are adamantly opposed to vaccinations, especially the flu vaccine.

It's that time of year — the dreaded, but necessary flu shots are here. The American Lung Association kicked off their "Faces of Influenza" public awareness campaign emphasizing the importance of getting vaccinated.
One of our favorite celeb moms, Jennifer Garner, joined the efforts along with famous parents, Dean Cain and Joy Behar.

Recently, I laughed out loud while reading an article about a flu-shot clinic held at a wine bar. The wine-and-flu-shot setup got me thinking about restaurants that serve other functions along with their food. In San Francisco, you can grab a beer while you run your laundry load at Brain Wash Cafe & Laundromat, or fix your motorbike over breakfast at MotoJava.
