Hi DrSugar,
Last year I was busy training for my first triathlon, a half marathon, and cycling a lot for fun. Toward the end of my training, I would become extremely fatigued and often just pass out after work randomly a few days here and there.

Around three in the afternoon, my energy often feels zapped. Sometimes all I need is a handful of walnuts, but other times a snack is not enough.

I have heard from more than a few people (Sugar users, friends, neighbors) that they're so stressed and this stress has zapped their energy. They feel fatigued, irritable, and unmotivated. I ask them if they have exercised.

It is true that with joy comes sadness, and Christmas is no exception. Many of us suffer emotionally through the holidays and there are many reasons why we do - fatigue, financial stress, family tension, and unrealistic expectations are all factors.

Staring at the screen can lead to eyestrain, dizziness, headaches, low energy, and neck, back and shoulder pain.

HEALTH GUIDE REFERENCE FROM A.D.A.M
Highlights
Causes
- Four out of five people with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) are infected with an enterovirus -- one of the viruses that cause respiratory and gastrointestinal infections -- compared with only one out of five healthy people. The virus might be a trigger for CFS, although research has not yet confirmed a cause-and-effect relationship.
Diagnosis
- According to new guidelines, symptoms that suggest a diagnosis of CFS include disabling fatigue that starts suddenly, lasts a long time, keeps coming back, and can't be explained by another condition. Other symptoms may include difficulty concentrating or sleeping, dizziness, headaches, muscle or joint pain, sore throat, and palpitations.
