WASHINGTON — If you're planning a garage sale or organizing a church bazaar, you'd best beware: You could be breaking a new federal law. As part of a campaign called Resale Roundup, the federal government is cracking down on the secondhand sales of dangerous and defective products.
The initiative, which targets toys and other products for children, enforces a new provision that makes it a crime to resell anything that's been recalled by its manufacturer.

well if you live in a palce like me where the soil is more like clay and rock well heres a little trick to bring your yard back to life when you plant new trees and shrubs:
well you will need : 40lb bag of soil conditioner
40lb bag of peat
40lb bag of cow manure
and a 40lb bag of baccto( fertilized soil)
you want to mix each one into thirds and take a third of each and mix then mix it with the soil in the whole you have dug and plant your tree, shrub, etc into the hole and fill in space and hole with that mix and then pour a 5gal bucket of water in the hole every day for at least a solid week, then youll watch you trees, shrubs flourish

I'm a sucker for good choreography. Storylines matter not to me when the dancing is good.
It also helps when a healthy helping of washboard abs are thrown into the mix.

Everyone knows by now that magazines extensively airbrush the stars on their covers, and usually the celebs appreciate a little touchup and wouldn't want it any other way. But imagine Demi Moore, 47, getting her first look at the latest (December) cover of W and finding that a huge chunk of her hip has been digitally removed?
That's what the folks at Boing Boing called attention to yesterday.

NAIROBI, Kenya – Somali pirates attacked the Maersk Alabama on Wednesday for the second time in seven months, though private guards on board the U.S.-flagged ship repelled the attack with gunfire and a high-decibel noise device.
A U.S. surveillance plane was monitoring the ship as it continued to its destination on the Kenyan coast, while a pirate said that the captain of a ship hijacked Monday with 28 North Korean crew members on board had died of wounds.

In the grand scheme of things, this is not a big deal at all and I know people have much bigger problems, so I hate to whine, but I'm going to for a second anyway.
My parents are in the process of selling their house right now. They've been kicking around the idea for a while, but they listed it and sold it quickly (I think they underpriced it) and they have their meeting to finalize everything on Thursday. They haven't found a new place to buy yet, so they decided to rent a house for a bit because they don't want to rush into buying something they don't want.
I know this is silly, but I am really sad about the fact that they will no longer own the house I grew up in. We have so many memories there and I love that house. We moved there when I was in second grade, so I spent more time there (by far) than in any other place we lived. They have a large wooded lot and the house is on a beautiful country road. Last Christmas, when my mom picked me up from the airport and drove down the street, the snow on the trees looked beautiful and I felt like I was home. (I love D.C., but for some reason, Ohio still feels like home to me.)
They are moving to a smaller house on a tiny lot on a typical suburban street. It just won't be the same.

I took some pictures this morning of my front and back yard and the flowers that are blooming. It's a gloomy day today, I wish it was sunnier so the colors would pop more. But, I can't control the weather, so this is what you get.

This summer we finished our yard with grass, trees and flowers. Not only do the kids like the new space but so do their new "friends" - the butterflies and dragonflies.
