On Tuesday, Indiana University named Marquette coach Tom Crean as their new head basketball coach in another step toward putting the Kelvin Sampson mess behind the program. On the same day, current interim head coach Dan Dakich dismissed two of the team's starters, Jamarcus Ellis and Armon Bassett from the team for skipping required team functions.
While hiring Crean is a big step in the right direction for IU, the Sampson situation has left a very fuzzy picture for the immediate future of IU basketball.

WASHINGTON – French scientists mixed gene therapy and bone marrow transplants in two boys to seemingly halt a brain disease that can kill by adolescence. The surprise ingredient: They disabled the HIV virus so it couldn't cause AIDS, and then used it to carry in the healthy new gene.
The experiment marks the first time researchers have tried that long-contemplated step in people — and the first effective gene therapy against a severe brain disease, said lead researcher Dr.

This week's cover: Why America is falling for 'Glee'
by EW staff
Categories: Glee, This Week's Cover
This season’s most unexpected success story, Glee is snarky, theatrical, totally addictive — and a cult phenomenon on its way to becoming a national obsession. The comedy is currently averaging a steady 8 million viewers a week, and the people watching are enviably young: Five million of its viewers are in the desirable 18–49 demo. (It’s little wonder that in September, Fox made Glee the first new fall series to be given a full 22-episode pickup.) Meanwhile, fans are staying engaged even after the episodes are over by downloading the cast’s newest cover tunes.

GOP operatives are trumpeting opinion surveys that show Obama's popularity declining and support flagging for his bid to use the federal government to provide medical coverage to uninsured Americans.
Over the August congressional break, House Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio issued regular news releases about health care surveys.

President Barack Obama said in Turkey : "We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation. We consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."
I found this very interesting.

About time this was done!!
Hopefully this will be the beginning of reining in these imperial decisions.
This is nothing short of Americans asking the Judiciary Branch to step in and exercise its check and balance powers to stop an out-of-control Executive Branch.

Obamas report $2.7 million in income for 2008
By SHARON THEIMER
Associated Press Writer
WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, millionaires from his best-selling books, made $2.7 million last year and paid just under one-third of their adjusted income in federal taxes. While the income, mostly his, was far more than the U.S. median household income of about $50,000, it was quite a decrease from the $4.2 million the Obamas made in 2007.
