Schedules: Friend or Foe?

Life around the Goodrum Household can be very hectic. In the morning, my husband and I try to get dressed before the baby wakes, get our 5 year old up and try to get her to dress herself, feed the two cats and feed the puppy and take her out (twice). I usually come home from work at lunch and take the puppy out (I put on an apron so she doesn't get dirt all over my outfit). After work (and this is where it gets iffy), I might take Cookie (the pup) out right away, or put dinner on, or get Charles (the daughter) and/or Fozzy (the son) or feed Cookie, etc. Mantrell and I have discussed a schedule which looks something like me coming home, taking Cookie out, cooking (by then he would be home with the kids) then feed Cookie. Unfortunately, I usually have to pick the kids up anyway (because I get off first) and it is SO much fun (NOT) to take Cookie out with Charles and Fozzy. Add to the mix that we used to swim at the YMCA three times a week and we haven't been in like 2 months - we would like to get back , to the YMCA (and feed everyone, and bathe everyone, and make sure everyone gets their bedtime story). So what do we do? Do have a family schedule? What is on it (I didn't have time to talk about chores and stuff) Do you stick to it religously? Does one of you follow more closely than the other? Do you schedule your personal time (dates, beauty parlor, shopping?)

Am I Selfish For Wanting Our Sleep Schedule To Be Similar?

My boyfriend and I live together. We both are avid video game fans, with several consoles in our home. He works, on salary, for a major software engineer company. His hours vary based on how late he'd like to sleep in, despite (or maybe because of) the fact that he's a higher-up in the company. Generally, he gets up at about nine or ten a.m. after a little prodding from me, spends eight or so hours at work, comes home, spends time with me until I get tired and need to go to bed.

I have chronic fatigue and often cannot stay up much later than eleven p.m. Generally, he comes to bed and watches TV with me long enough for me to nod off, then goes to play video games in the living room. I do not generally have a problem with this. He finally trots in at about 2 a.m., but lately its been getting later and later. Four a.m. on a work night. When he does that, and therefore has to sleep in until 10 a.m., it greatly shortens the time in the evening in which we can spend time together, as he has to stay just that much later to feel as though he's put in enough time. I try to stay up sometimes so I can still be with him (I work from home and therefore can work when I like), but just cant manage it with my chronic fatigue (yes, diagnosed by doctor). Two a.m. really wasnt all that bad, I even managed to look the other way at three. But when he stays up later and later and still has to get up with only six hours of sleep, he ends up crashing nearly the entire weekend to catch up! Last night (Saturday) he did not come to bed until five a.m. So that means sleeping well into the afternoon, and then only a few evening hours to spend with him, before I'm compelled to go to bed.

Am I selfish for wanting him to adjust a little? He insists that if he were to get up too much earlier in the morning and go in to work, that instead of getting to leave eight hours later, that he would end up having to stay just as late as if he came in at ten, because he's on salary. I understand this. But I'm just absolutely bewildered as to why he cant at least adjust his sleep schedule enough so that he doesnt have to sleep most of the weekend away. His night time hours are stealing from our time together after work, AND their stealing our weekends!

He just insists that he usually doesnt feel tired when he lays down at night...and maybe he should look into that, because he comes home exhausted from so little sleep, yet cant fall asleep at eleven or midnight. He says his former girlfriends didnt care and never complained, but I pointed out that they werent the nicest of women and probably didnt want him there.

Am I wrong for wanting to not wake up all alone most of the night? Will he think I'm crazy for pointing out that it takes time away from what we have to spend together? Ever been broken up by a sleep schedule? He's felt in the past that I've nagged him about staying up, when I've really only teased him, so I backed off so he wouldnt feel so bad. But I did feel compelled to ask him, is it so bad that I WANT you to be in bed with me, near me? Is that some kind of sin?

Britney’s conservatorship scheduled to end 7/31 and her dad has moved out

Hello! Magazine has a new interview with a supposed insider in the Britney and Kevin circle, and it paints Kevin Federline as such a changed man and a great guy that I got the impression it was one of his friends. It’s possibleHello! fabricates insider quotes like the stateside rags, but they’re so classy about it that I was convinced they were authentic quotes from someone close to the situation. There are a lot of details about their relationship along with Britney’s decision to hand over full custody of her two children to Kevin. It sounds like things are picking up for both of them and they might even have a chance at reconciliation, according to this anonymous person. What’s more is that Britney’s father’s conservatorship ends this week, on July 31. While it’s thought that it will be extended, it’s possible that the conservatorship will end and she’ll legally be responsible for herself again. Jamie Spears has moved out of Britney’s mansion and is now living in an apartment, which can be taken as another sign that Britney is doing well on her own:

Why did Britney agree to Kevin having sole custody?
Sources close to Britney tell me she didn’t have much choice. Because she is still under her father Jamie’s conservatorship… there was no way a court would ever grant her legal and physical custody of her children. Still, it was a difficult and agonizing decision for her. However, in the end, she knew what she had to do.

“She’s seen the kids at Kevin’s house and knows how happy they are there,” says one of her intimates. “They’re living in a stable and secure environment. She doesn’t think it fair to pull them from it. Plus, she wanted to avoid the spectacle of a full-blown custody trial…”

Is there any chance they could get back together?
Yes. In fact, Kevin has been trying to encourage Britney to move closer to him and the boys - he lives in a seven bedroom mansion in the San Fernando Valley… Britney has said that she would not be surprised if she and Kevin began dating again because, as she put it to one of her intimates “I never stopped loving him. I just stopped liking him. And now I like him so much more than before.

For his part, Kevin hasn’t dated anyone else since his marriage ended. “He still loves Britney,” says his friend. “I think they could find their way back to one another…”

What prompted the transformation in Kevin?
Recently, Kevin told me: “The guy I once was no longer exists. The man you see before you is the guy I want my kids to emulate. Nothing is more important than the example I set for my boys… K-Fed… doesn’t exist any more…”

Who can be credited with practically saving her life?
“Britney, of course, had to do all of the really hard work,” said one of her friends. “It was a terribly difficult journey. No one will ever understand the emotional depths to which she plummeted. It was so hard pulling herself out of it.”

That said, there’s little doubt that Jamie Spears is largely responsible for spearheading her recovery….

“Today, she sees the wisdom in everything he did for her. ‘I want to be for my kids exactly what he has been for me,’ she told me.”

Jamie’s co-conservatorship is set to end this week, but most people in Britney’s circle believe it will be extended. However, Jamie recently moved out of his daughter’s home and into an apartment of his own, suggesting that he is comfortable with the way Britney has been progressing.

Hello adds that Britney is working on her new CD, which will be out in 2009 and that she’ll tour for it. Her lawyer, Laura Wasser, says she ultimately wants joint custody of her children.

It’s doubtful that Britney and Kevin will get back together, but at least they’re not fighting and it sounds like they’re working together to make a good life for their boys. The insider claims that K-Fed does not talk smack about Britney to them and that he “always preservered their image of ‘Mommy’.”

Britney is currently on vacation in Mexico and looks like she’s having a great time. She is quoted in Hello as telling a neighbor “Things really are changing for the better, aren’t they?”

Get the Bod: Joan Jett

I love the idea that a new audience gets to see the awesome-ness of Joan Jett - via Kristen Stewart - in The Runaways, which opens this Friday. The woman seriously rocks, both literally and figuratively. She was off my radar for a bit, but her recent press appearances have reminded me of her amazing body: washboard abs and some smokin' guns to boot. Not too shabby for a 51-year-old rocker.

Curious at how she manages to look ageless, I did a little digging to see what I could find. From what I gather, there is no celebrity trainer or detox cleanses; Joan seems like a poster child for healthy living. As she told the New York Times a few years ago, "most days I feel like 25" - she stays active by always being on the go. Like many musicians, a demanding tour schedule leaves little time to sit around, but she does find time to exercise when home in Long Island. She's been known to go biking and knock out 50 push-ups during commercial breaks. Challenging rock star preconceptions, Joan doesn't smoke or drink, and does her best to stay out of the sun's harmful rays.

Joan also keeps her health in check with a healthy diet, and has been a vegetarian for over 20 years. She told Go Veg that she turned to a vegetarian diet while touring.

I was on the road eight months a year, and meat was too heavy to eat late at night, so I ate other things. I slowly lost my taste for meat, and at the same time, I experienced a slowly dawning awareness that it is unnecessary to eat animals in order to live in this world.

No alcohol, smoking, or red meat sounds like a surefire recipe for health! Next time you're at the gym, try working out to "Do You Wanna Touch Me" performed by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - it's the kind of song that makes you want to be stronger.

is a balance of family life and work commitments.

She told Q magazine: ”I have to eke out the time. One day I don’t see my
kids much and the next day I make sure I do.

”You look at your calendar and you go, ‘OK, this day’s crazy. But OK, this
day I’m going to take my daughter to ballet. The next day I’m going to be
gone all day. So the day after I’m going to make sure I’m around for dinner
and bathtime.’ “

Despite her astonishing achievements, the pop superstar - who is one of the
most successful female recording artists of all time - claims she still has
one challenge left.

She said: ”What else is there for me to conquer? Hopefully my ego. How will
I know when I’ve succeeded? When I stop caring what anyone thinks.”

Madonna, who bared all for her controversial book ‘Sex’, also dispelled
assumptions she is a supremely confident person.

She said: ”I can be shy and nervous about things. People will never think
that about me.”

The good thing about Robert Pattinson coming out with a new movie - you know, in addition to the fact that he's coming out with a new movie - is that his ever popular face will have to make obligatory stops at all many popular TV outlets to promote it. While the "Remember Me" tour will be a bit less involved than the "New Moon" on was, we're pretty excited about all of the TV shows he is going to be frequenting. Hopefully however that appearance goes, it will blow our minds.

Real or Rumor : Will Clooney come back to "ER" For the series final season. the sounds of it yes but who knows?

George Clooney Called Back to the ER?

Entertainment Tonight

There's talk again of George Clooney and other former cast members returning to "ER" as the show gears up for its final season on NBC.

Clooney will return to the popular medical drama along with Noah Wyle and Eriq La Salle, Wyle tells TV Guide senior editor Will Keck.

"From what I heard, George said, 'absolutely,' schedule permitting," Wyle says of Clooney's reported return. As for La Salle, he will direct an "ER" episode this month, and then reunite with Wyle on screen as Dr. Peter Benton for a storyline shooting this winter to air next spring, TV Guide reports.

Wyle reveals more of the storyline: "As a result of [Carter's] once near-fatal stabbing [the same incident that killed off Kellie Martin's Dr. Lucy Knight in 2000], which led to my subsequent drug addiction, I come back from Africa requiring additional medical treatment for my one remaining kidney. I'm embarrassed to get treatment at County General, so I go up to Northwestern to get my dialysis up there, and that's where Dr. Benton spies my name on a patient list and comes to pay me a visit."
