This is something I have only heard mentioned in the past few years. Before that I was like "Omega what"??? Many doctors recommend taking a supplement of Omega 3 fatty acids.

Science is uncovering close connections among food, inflammation and heart disease. Here’s what you should know.
By Rachel Johnson, Ph.D., M.P.H., R.D., EatingWell.com
As a nutrition professor, I thought I was up to speed on which healthy habits can help you prevent heart disease—until a few years ago when my University of Vermont colleague Paula Fives-Taylor, Ph.D., rattled my thinking.

It has long been accepted in the medical community that molasses has great health benefits for the heart, in that it helps to lower blood pressure and aids the circulation system in stopping the formation of blood clots. Because of this, the American Heart Association has included molasses, as well as other Omega-3 fatty acid foods like salmon, in its list for essential foods needed for heart health. While developing some new recipes that include molasses, I ran across this really great article about the previously unknown health benefits of this "miraculous brew."

In a blunt challenge to Canada and thousands of Canadian seal hunters, the European Parliament voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday to ban the import or sale of furs or other products from commercially harvested seals. The ban would mainly affect Canada, where the government has allowed several hundred thousand young harp seals to be killed each year by commercial and traditional hunters on sea ice cloaking eastern waters.
Canadian officials immediately criticized the ban, which could take effect within several weeks, for not exempting countries like Canada that have guidelines requiring humane, sustainable hunts.

We all need to eat more fatty fish to get healthy omega-3s in our diet.
The solution: precooked canned salmon. It has just as many omega-3s as the fillets your fishmonger dishes out.

I decided that over Christmas that I would "adopt" a new fruit and vegetable that I haven't eaten much of, find one I liked and incorporate into my weekly diet.
These two little stars are low-calorie, packed with vitamins and flavour, and are (like most produce) not that expensive if you keep your eyes sharp.
Soo without further adieu:
The veggie is definitely celeriac (Inspired by the need to make a last-minute substitution to Christmas dinner...ending up in a "celeriac" gravy and dressing addition that worked out so awesomely..damn this stuff is good!

Supplements are great additions to an already good nutrition and training program. Nutrition and training are the most important components of a exercise program, with rest and recovery next to them. Once all of those aspects of your program are maximized, then you can start thinking of adding supplements to your program.

recently read about this in Diet and Nutrition, so thought I would share it with my readers!
“Eating well is as much about the nutrients in the food as it is about the taste. Foods that are filled with nutrition naturally and have great flavor- that’s what makes foods truly super!”
