Sleep Pretty

A few minutes ago, I was tossing and turning in bed trying to squeeze in at least an hour of sleep. You see, cursed with an overactive mind, neither my noggin or eyeballs had any rest. Two years away from hitting 30 years old, I have only recently become more conscious and concerned about maintaining a youthful appearance. For some reason, I don't think dark circles or wrinkles will ever be a desirable look.

Bouncing around in bed frustrated while trying to shield the morning's brightness with my pillow, I recalled the day my thoughtful mother-in-law spoke about the effects of pillows and its thread count. Because I am ridiculous and hopeless, instead of trying to sleep, inquisitive, I went online to look into the relationship between skin and pillow.

Well lookie, lookie here!

You can save your face! Well, I'll be darned!

Is this already OFN for everyone?

Save My Face

"The “Save My Face!”® Pillowette is a revolutionary beauty and health product for the 21st Century. It helps prevent wrinkling, improves nasal air flow that permits increased oxygenation of the body, eases aches and pains, and aids in cosmetic surgery recovery. In addition it enhances the affects of expensive anti-aging facial creams and serums. Nothing is rubbed off on your sleep surface. The unique patented double crescent-shaped design supports the head comfortably while elevating the face during sleep or rest. This prevents compression of skin tissues and muscles as well as Sinuses located in the face. It also provides proper support for the neck, shoulders, and back."

I found only a few reviews on buzzillions & make [me] heal, but both with very positive reviews. I usually am very discerning when it comes to analyzing reviews; however, due to sleep deprivation and exhaustion I did not look too deep into the reviews to see if they are falsifying or paid testimonials. Check the links out for yourself! :]

Challenge: Week 6 "There's always room for progress"

Hi everyone,
So it has already been 6 weeks into 2010 and it is time for an update. Well the year started out great until my wonderful running injury, which probably would have stopped me in the past but not these days. It has been exactly 1 month since my doctors told me "There is absolutely no way you are going to be able to run, nor should you with your knee in this condition." So what is a girl that used to run daily and signed up for 1/2 marathons throughout the year supposed to do? Well I found swimming, ab work, and modifying my Body Pump (squats and lunges) and Zumba routines to be my new way to get cardio and strength training in.
However, I am a girl that has a hard time saying no to a good cause and doing what I am supposed to do, so when I say the Zumba-thon for Haiti (2 hours of non-stop dancing) I couldn't pass that up...so for everyone that has an injury and wants to know how to continue doing what they love, simply sit out a few songs and do abs instead. Not only will you get to participate in the class you love, but when you are starting to feel some pain, just switch to some ab work or arm work or some other muscle group.
The biggest accomplishment so far with my injury has been the fact that I was able to run for the first time today. Again, I couldn't pass up and opportunity to help Haiti so I did the Virtual Help Haiti 4 mile run. So here is the update, at mile 2 my knee started acting up, and mile 3 I had to slow down a bit and when I finished I went straight to icing. I am currently in a little pain, so I am taking the rest of the week off and going back to swimming. The only crazy thing is, I have my next 1/2 Marathon in New Orleans next Sunday (Rock-N-Roll series) and I can't wait to try it. I will probably end up doing a lot of walking and dancing at the mile marker bands.
As far as my other progress, I have lost about 2 inches off my waist and 1 inch off of both my thighs. I am more toned all over, and I am trying to tone up my arms even more. I have successfully increased weight during Body Pump for my bicep, chest, back, and triceps tracts. This is a huge accomplishment for me and I hope that everyone tries to intensify at least one part of their workout. It is important to live the life you love and love the life you live. So go out and do whatever it is you think you can't do. Push yourself that extra second and break down whatever mental barrier you have, trust me it is such a relief to know you can do whatever you want.
Happy 6 weeks everyone. Keep up all the great work

effective method of naturally

On Christmas Eve a guangzhou escort club mysterious lure your eyes, shake your soul, massage technician will be here to gather, they come from different places, different industries but they also have in common Hingywie, massage technician is not only beautiful but also technology is absolutely first-class youth, packet You are satisfied!
In my San Antonio, Texas massage dalian massage in dalian and Bodywork practice many of the people that come for treatment are seeking someone to help them with muscular pain and chronic tension from Trigger Points. Not all of these people have heard of Trigger Point Therapy but some have heard that Trigger Point Therapy is an effective method of naturally relieving their muscular pain. What they've heard is absolutely true.
Like many Massage Therapists I use Trigger Point Therapy when Trigger Points are present in a person's muscles. Trigger Points are hyperirritable spots in muscles associated with a palpable "knot" or "taut band" in the muscle tissue. Trigger Points are painful on compression and can refer pain and tenderness to other areas. Trigger Points are usually ischemic and often cause an entire muscle to be painful, too tight, weak, and more easily fatigued. Trigger Points can result from overworking or overstressing muscles, direct trauma to muscles, or sustained chills. Trigger Points are often either the cause of, or a contributing factor to, a wide variety of painful conditions.
Trigger Point Therapy directly targets the trigger points and the muscles in which they're found. In Trigger Point Therapy the Massage Therapist carefully seeks out the trigger points in a muscle with their fingers and uses specific compression techniques, friction strokes, and stretches which make the trigger points release and seemingly melt away. The release of the trigger point usually results in a rapid decrease or complete elimination of muscular pain. Trigger Point Therapy is a versatile technique and is often used to treat back pain, Jaw (TMJ) pain, headaches and migraines, whiplash, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, hip pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and more. Trigger Point Therapy can be used by itself as a stand-alone treatment, or it can be used during a Swedish massage, Sports massage, or Medical massage and as part of Neuromuscular Therapy or Deep Tissue Massage procedures.
Trigger Point Therapy does have a reputation as being a painful therapy to receive. However, despite its reputation as a "no pain, no gain" type of technique Trigger Point Therapy can be quite comfortable to receive. Some clients may experience some mild discomfort during the treatment. This mild discomfort is often described by people receiving Trigger Point Therapy as a "good pain" that rates low on a standard pain scale. Often this "good pain" is actually welcomed by those receiving this work.
hangzhou massage massage hangzhou massage in hangzhou hangzhou escort hangzhou oil massage hangzhou body massage

On Christmas Eve a escort guangzhou club mysterious lure your eyes, shake your soul, massage technician will be here to gather, they come from different places, different industries but they also have in common Hingywie, massage technician is not only beautiful but also technology is absolutely first-class youth, packet You are satisfied!
In my San Antonio, Texas based massage dalian massage in dalian Therapy and Bodywork practice I often treat pain from various syndromes including Piriformis Syndrome. Like many painful conditions Piriformis Syndrome responds quite well to massage therapy and bodywork.
What is Piriformis Syndrome?
Piriformis Syndrome is the name of a painful nerve entrapment condition in which the sciatic nerve is placed under abnormal pressure by the piriformis muscle. The piriformis muscle attaches to the sacrum bone of the low back to the top of greater trochanter of the femur (thigh bone) and lies on top of the sciatic nerve. When the piriformis muscle becomes tight and enlarged, pain results from myofascial trigger points (knots) in the muscle, pressure on the sciatic nerve, and sometimes from the S-I Joint in the low back. Pain from Piriformis Syndrome is usually found in the extreme low back, buttocks, hip, and often the back of the thigh. Most of the time the symptoms are on one side, but may affect both sides in some cases. Additionally, people with Piriformis Syndrome often have trouble sitting for long periods and the pain may worsen when walking or squatting.
What is the cause of Piriformis Syndrome?
There are a number of causes for Piriformis Syndrome including direct blunt trauma to the buttocks, prolonged sitting while working or driving, Morton's foot, or S-I Joint instability. Frequent or prolonged running on canted surfaces and participation in sports requiring quick lateral movement such as tennis, skiing, and basketball may also overstress the piriformis muscle and lead to Piriformis Syndrome.
Massage Therapy and Bodywork for Piriformis Syndrome
There are many ways that massage therapy and bodywork can be used to treat Piriformis Syndrome. The massage therapist will employ a number of techniques to relieve the condition. For example the massage therapist may use Neuromuscular Therapy or Trigger Point Therapy to eliminate myofascial trigger points in the piriformis muscle. The massage therapist could also use Myofascial Release techniques or Deep Tissue Massage techniques to release adhesions between the piriformis muscle and surrounding tissues while also using Muscle Energy Techniques to gently lengthen the piriformis muscle. Piriformis Syndrome also responds well to positional release therapies such as Ortho-Bionomy which work with the body's nervous system to release muscles and improve joint movement in the area. In addition to working on the piriformis muscle it may be necessary to provide therapy for other muscles near piriformis and even to muscles opposing piriformis to improve muscular balance. Comprehensive treatment with massage and bodywork, in conjunction with a home program of stretching and exercise, usually helps to completely resolve Piriformis Syndrome
It is easy to understand why massage therapy is becoming more popular in Western cultures. Along with pleasant sensations and immediate relief from stress, it also provides long term benefits. Ancient truths about massage therapy are now making a big impact on people who have previously lived on a diet of high technology and fast foods.hangzhou massage massage hangzhou massage in hangzhou hangzhou escort hangzhou oil massage hangzhou body massage

Pretend I have a body that functions to reach My Goals for 2010!

I'd like to lose 75 lbs this year. My weight has been high ever since I was diagnosed with severe Fibromyalgia as a teenager. It's a pain disorder and it makes excercise difficult. Despite that I still dance and perform with a local Vaudeville group but it's the only excercise I've done religiously for years. Plus, to add to the problem I had to undergo a total hysterectomy 5 years ago (at the age of 25), so my hormone levels are all wonky, which makes it more difficult to lose weight (I won't take hrt because I don't think 40+ years of them are good for my health). I eat a very healthy diet (with exception to the occasional sweet) so it's not a matter of cutting out calories, it's all about the moving & burning them (as well as building more lean muscle mass). Plus, to add to the problem I had to undergo a total hysterectomy 5 years ago so my Hormone levels are all wonky which makes it more difficult to lose weight (I won't take hormone replacements because I don't think 40+ years of them are good for the health).
This year, I'm going to increase my excercise frequency, duration, and intensity gradually in hopes to lose the weight. I know that it will result in immense amounts of pain, but it will be worth it when my body is at a healthy size... who knows, I may even feel better.

2010: Better than 2009

I'm not usually one to make "New Year's Resolutions" especially when it pertains to fitness goals. My idea of fitness is that it isn't something you do to reach a goal and then forget about it. It's a lifetime committment that you never really finish. I've been pretty active all my life, but like others I've suffered setbacks. I'm the mother of three children so of course my body suffered. My latest and perhaps hardest "setback" is in 2006 I was diagnosed with congential cervical stenosis with 3 herniated cervical discs and degenerative arthritis in my lumbar spine region. I suffer from chronic headaches, muscle spasms, nerve pain that shoots from my neck/back down my arms and nerve pain down my legs, and weakness. Needless to say this makes it harder to get fit and stay fit, but I won't let it get me down. As of today I started the P90X program and will continue until day 90. At that time I'll will access my progress and go from there. It's not the easiest program by any means, but I'm tired of letting my "issues" stop me from finally having the figure I want. After almost 5 yrs after having my last child I got back down to my pre-pregnancy size, but I still have more I want. 2009 wasn't the greatest year for many people and I want to do all that I can that's in my control to make 2010 the year to beat.

So as of today I'm 5'3 and 137 lbs. Time to shred the excess fat and gain the strength I've lost. Good luck to everyone in reaching your goals in 2010. Remember: One day/One Step at a time!

THE BOTOX NATION – IS IT WORTH IT??

THE BOTOX NATION – IS IT WORTH IT??

Everyone wants to look younger than their age (except my 23 year old Niece who constantly declares her total horror at being asked whether she’s still in High School…she should be giving thanks that she has her Dad’s genes). Life would be truly spectacular if we could live until a ripe old age without a wrinkle in sight. While this is slightly utopian, there are several possibilities to maintain your youthfulness, some are more dangerous than meets the eye…
BOTOX
Botox is all the rage at the moment thanks to our daily Hollywood lifestyle doses on TV and in Magazines…even Kochie and Mel are giving us the latest Hollywood scoop on a daily basis! Botox is extremely popular because it is convenient and the results are instant (if you don’t mind the whole plastic, frozen in time look and not showing any ounce of emotion on your face) people are even flaunting it as the cure for all ageing! With just a few injections, the procedure can paralyze facial muscles and prevent them from forming wrinkles.
Whilst society is quickly becoming a botox nation (people are even popping down on their lunch break for a botox quickie) the side effects of this toxic substance are scarcely known. So is Botox really worth it…we’ll let you make that judgment….
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Botox injections are the most common cosmetic operation with 4.6 million procedures in America alone during 2007. Hollywood starlet Jennifer Anniston has admitted to going under the needle herself but states that “tried Botox once and it was really not good for me. I felt like I had a weight on my head.” After trying it out, she says that she can spot anyone who has had the procedure as everyone has the same look, “I think it makes women look older. Harder. The warmth in their faces goes away. You see women and you know they’re not young, but you can’t tell how old they are” (well unless you look at their neck).
So What is Botox….
BOTOX
What is in Botox? A toxic substance known as Botulinum toxin which is derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum, in a class of drugs called neurotoxins. Clostridium botulinum is held to be the most toxic and dangerous substance known to mankind (Montecucco & Molgó, 2005).

How long does Botox Last? Botox is temporary although the changes are instant. The injections may last from three to six months before the effects disappear (following injections are required…warning: may become addictive if you are looking for a long term solution).
How is Botox dispensed? Botulinum toxin is an injectable neuro-toxin that is delivered to the muscle by the use of a fine needle. It works by blocking the ability of nerves to make muscles contract i.e. it paralyzes muscle, by blocking the release of acetylocholine from the neuron.

Does this look healthy to you……)

Who can use it? Adults between 18 and 65 years of age. Botox is not safe to use if pregnant, breast feeding or if you suffer from muscular conditions and allergies.
Cost: Botox costs vary from anywhere between AU$350 and AU$1200 depending the quantity of botox injected. The average botox user can spend up to 4 thousand dollars per year on treatments as many become addicted to the treatments in the search for longer term results.
Side effects: Botox treatments have been associated with many serious side effects that can be life threatening. Probable side effects include: problems swallowing, speaking, breathing, loss of strength and muscle weakness all over the body, double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, hoarseness, headache, flu-like symptoms, nausea, spasms of the eyes, swollenness or redness at the injection site, bruising, facial pain, rash, neck pain, muscle weakness and tearing and sensitivity to light.
Ageing is impossible to avoid but has growing old really become that bad that we are lead to inject ourselves with lethal substances?? I am happy to knock back a few years from the age clock but I still want to look good without looking like an artificial plastic doll.
LA MAV
La Mav, certified organic anti ageing skin care is based on scientific ageing skin research. Proudly bearing organic certification from the OFC and ECOCERT, at La Mav we believe that beauty is best attained naturally, in union with science which is why La Mav is also a signatory to the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. Natural and certified ingredients are made from the purest ingredients from plants and minerals in accordance with strict organic certification standards rather than from a recognized lethal, highly toxic substance made in a laboratory.
Ingredients: 100% natural, chemical free ingredients - meaning that all ingredients can be traced backed to their organic origin.
Results: Building the long term health of the skin from a cellular level enable longer lasting results.
How it works: Provides amino acids to the dermal layer of the skin to repair and rebuild collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother, firmer, younger looking skin over the entire face.
Who is it for: Adults of any age. La Mav is safe for pregnant women, breast feeding mothers and all skin types and conditions.
Approximate Cost for a La Mav Product (lasts a few months): $75
Side effects: Younger looking, healthier skin.
Botox is one of the most toxic substances known. Why would you inject it voluntarily when there are natural and organic alternatives that offer anti aging skincare with amazing wrinkle-reducing results? La Mav offers long term, yet safe effects resulting in a clinically proven reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and it is 100% traceably organic!
So is botox worth it? My answer is no. Science, research and human error has shown that the skin needs to be protected. As I have said over and over, the skin is the largest organ in the body and 65% of what is placed on the skin is absorbed into the body – as a result not under any circumstances should the skin and our body be subjected to toxins and poisons. Although Botox offers that immediate frozen in time look, the long term risks make it far better to always choose a product that can truly offer younger looking skin. Who wouldn’t want to use a product made with the purest ingredients known to mankind instead of the most toxic??

All About Aromatherapy!

ESSENTIAL OILS - AROMATHERAPY
One of the most powerful, but the least utilized, senses among humans is the sense of smell. Humans have the capability to distinguish 10,000 different smells. However dormant, different smells have a profound effect on the human mind and body. Aromatherapy is a tested science that employs essential oils to stimulate our sense of smell and bring in positive effects on both mind and body. It is a natural, healing modality employing essential oils extracted from aromatic plant sources to treat and balance the body, mind and spirit.

Smell stimulates parts of our brain that control our emotions, moods, memory and learning. Smell reaches these parts of the brain through cilia, which are the fine hair lining the nose. However essential oils also work on the physical level. Research has validated that essential oils help our body fight against harmful bacteria and viruses, fungal infections, inflammation, rheumatism, toxicity, depression and much more besides the energizing effect they provide.Essential oils are made of chemical compositions, which, when reach the brain can exert specific effects on the mind and body. Each essential oil has its own healing property. These oils can be used in isolation or in different combinations depending on the different levels - physical, emotional and mental where the healing is to take place. This science has been recognized for its potent effects and is used widely in medicine the world over. Aromatherapy is a non-physically invasive alternative stream of medicine offering remedies not available with traditional medicine.

HOW TO USE ESSENTIAL OILS

Essential oils are used for multiple purposes and applications. Essential oils are generally used in the following ways to utilize their therapeutic properties and dispensing their fragrances and scents:
Baths
Body and facial oils
Foot Bath
Handkerchief
Therapeutic Massage
Inhalation
Compresses
Room Spray
Showers
Sauna
Scented Candles
Humidifiers
Wood Fires
Hot Tubs
1. Body And Facial Oils
To treat colds, headaches, pains and running nose it is advisable to drop 3 - 4 drops of eucalyptus or any other recommended oil on the handkerchief and inhale it frequently.
4. Therapeutic Massage:
These massages are used to trigger the natural healing process of the body. These massages stimulate the lymph fluid and blood circulation of the body. Massage also tends to act upon the emotional centre in the brain and affects our thinking process. For massage mix 1 – 3 % solution of oil to base oil and then massage the body.
5. Inhalation:
Steam inhalations can be used to treat colds and other respiratory disorders. For this purpose take a bowl of hot water, add 6 – 10 drops of essential oil. Now place a towel over your head and bend over the bowl such that you cover the entire bowl with the towel. Inhale deeply. This will help in clearing blocked respiratory passage.
6. Compress:
Hot and cold compresses can be used in case of back pains, sprains and to reduce swelling of the joints. Take a piece of cloth or towel and pour 5 – 10 drops of essential oil in hot water about 160 ml. Soak the cloth squeeze the water out and then place it on the ailing body part. Let it in this position for few minutes and when it turns cold remove it and repeat the entire process.
7. Hot Tub
Add 10 -1 5 drops of geranium, sandalwood or Ylang Ylang in the bath tub and then enjoy the hot tub.
8. Room Spray:
To make a room spray, add 10 drops of an essential oil of your choice with 100 ml of water add a preservative like pure alcohol. Shake the solution and than fill in a sprayer.
9. Sauna:
To detoxify and cleanse your body, add 2 drops of essential oil of pine or eucalyptus to 300 – 330 ml of water and throw over the coals of evaporation.
10. Scented candles:
Scented candles can be used to add fragrance to your room. You can alternatively add few drops of essential oils of your choice to an oil lamp to derive similar effect.
11. Humidifiers:
Add 5 drops of essential oil to a small bowl of water that should be placed on a radiator’s top or to water of a humidifier.
12. Wood Fires:
Drops of pine, cypress or cedar wood can be sprinkled over logs of wood for some effect. But oil should be add an hour before lightning the fire.
13. Showers:
Soap your body and then rinse. After rinsing dip a wet sponge in essential oil and squeeze the sponge and now rub over your entire body while you are under the shower.

BUYING ESSENTIAL OILS

Purity and quality should be of utmost importance while purchasing or using essential oils. This is important since you would want to make sure you are using a naturally complete, whole, pure and true healing essential oil. The difference between purity and quality for oils is that pure oils are oils without any adulterations or additives. Quality here means therapeutic potency of the oil. Only genuine essential oils, which are pure and of high quality, can deliver the desired results. However, purity and quality come at a price. Again, a costly price does not guarantee the best essential oil.

Sweet Basil is imported from France and is produced by distilling the leaves of the herb. However, its origins are in India and Hindus have used it for centuries in medicine. It has a slightly sweet licorice aroma.
Sweet Basil revitalizes the body and spirit by refreshing the mind and improving concentration, especially when tired-- a good nerve tonic after a stressful day.
Basil is beneficial for relieving headaches, migraines and sinusitis. Evidence also suggests that sweet basil essential oil helps with migraines.

It is good for nasal decongestion and blends well with Rosemary and Sweet Marjoram, which are the classic muscular ache oils.
Essential Oils and Stress / Question?

Stress is the imbalance created in the body natural equilibrium due to any reaction to a physical, mental and/ or emotional stimulus. The most common form of stress, experienced by many of us, is work stress. Boardroom meetings, hectic schedules, deadlines, and work backlogs usually leave us physically and mentally drained. Sitting for long hours staring at the computer screen can cause anxiety and stress. This usually leaves us with tired eyes, headaches and body pain.
Massage techniques act as stress relievers, ease muscle tension, and help in revitalizing the mind. These techniques are ideal for undoing the knots caused by tension especially through the keyboard posture.

Aromatherapy massage works in three ways:
