Beginner Yoga Knees...OUCH

I just started a beginner yoga class and I am hooked. My problem is my knees have become bruised after the class...Does anybody know if anybody makes "yoga inspired" knee pads? And are knee pads a good idea at the beginning?

Bad Knee Forces Tiger Woods to Retire – For Now

A knee injury is forcing Tiger Woods to hang up his clubs until 2009 – and he's not betting when he'll return to the world of competitive golf.

"As far as swinging a club, that's not going to happen until next year. I just don't have a choice," the world's No. 1 player, 32, said Tuesday in a message on his Web site.

"We simply don't know what type of swelling there would be or if there would be any residual effects the next day once you start wheeling and dealing on the knee," he states.

Shortly after his U.S. Open victory in June, Woods underwent surgery to repair an anterior cruciate ligament (or ACL), one of the four major ligaments of the knee.

"Everyone's body reacts differently. I could putt right now, but I'm not going to do it," says Woods.

Looking ahead, "I don't know what the doctors are going to tell me about playing golf down the road. I'm taking it day-to-day, week-to-week. All I'm doing every day is looking forward to my next day."

Then again, Woods has given no indication that he won't be up for the challenge of the 2009 Masters, Golf magazine reports. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20218832,00.html

Chris Martin injures his knee right before his comeback tour

Chris Martin has thrown Coldplay’s comeback concert into jeopardy after twisting his knee during tour rehearsals.

The frontman was left hobbling in pain after injuring his leg in practice sessions for the band’s eagerly anticipated first performance in London on Monday.

And it is feared the injury will further postpone the group’s forthcoming world tour, which has already been pushed back due to unspecified “production delays”.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun, “Chris has been in absolute agony with his knee.
“He’s had to strap it and has been hobbling around the place. He doesn’t want to cancel the show so is going to fight through the pain barrier.”

Earlier this month, it was announced the rockers’ North American trek would be delayed by two weeks. The tour was scheduled to kick off on June 29th, but will now start in Los Angeles on July 14th.

Advice for my knees, please.

My bad knees and I have been taking yoga for a few months now, once a week. It's a vinyasa class with all levels of skill accommodated. While the rest of my body has felt fantastic, my knees have begun to feel a bit sore, loose and wobbly lately. I get occasional tweaks of pain now and then from normal activities. My question is: are there certain yoga poses I should avoid, and/or seek out because of my knees? I'm worried about doing major damage, but would really hate to give up yoga.

Any advice or suggestions?

I always have so much fun mixing and matching different pieces to create fresh looks. Here's an old skirt I bought last year at Marshall's that I hiked up and belted to make a flirty, short strapless dress. I'm also loving knee highs right now since they are a great segway from tights moving into spring (and summer for those of us up here in cold Seattle). Dress/skirt: Marshall's (it's actually a skirt), $25 Belt: Martin & Osa, $38 Knee highs: Target, $3 Patent pumps: Jeffrey Campbell, $125 Blouse: Old Navy, $15 You could say this look was inspired by Cher Horowitz from one of our favorite movies of the 90's...Clueless.

Scarlett Wants You On Your Knees

This ought to turn some heads. A new poster has been released for the upcoming movie The Spirit.

It's not out until Christmas of next year, but we're thinking this poster may spur some hype. Scarlett Johansson will play Silken Floss in the movie, the femme fatale, and accomplice to the evil mastermind of the film.
