If you've never been to the Gaslamp District in downtown San Diego, then you're missing out. It's one of my favorite places to hang out--friendly with a hip young crowd and lively.

I improvised this tortellini with sun-dried tomato pesto recipe when the boyfriend and I had a dinner party. It was so easy but very well-received.
Measurements are approximate.

ribollita, tuscan bread soup
Ribollita happens to be my favorite italian soup, and I actually made it before I had even been to Tuscany after seeing some recipes for it on the Food network. Though when I did finally go to Italy, I ordered it everyday we were in Tuscany. :) Bringing the hills of Tuscany into your kitchen!

Alex and I were invited to have lunch at the home of Sergio and Elisabetta of Sono Montenidoli. We are greeted outside by Sergio with a refreshing rosato with fried zucchini blossom flowers. OMG!

2004 I Favati Aglianico "Cretarossa"
The return of the Sopranos required a nice Italian wine. From K&L Wines:
The I Favati winery is located today in Cesinale, a town and surrounding hilly area in the heart of Irpinia (east of Naples, in the region of Campania), a land with a profound calling to the creation of quality wines. Irpinia's unique, indigenous grape varieties make up all of I Favati's vineyards, which benefit from a perfect exposition to the sun.

This is such a quick and easy way to do this.
Use whatever frozen breaded chicken you have - breaded chicken fillets are good, they are bigger. Fry them in oil until they are golden brown and cooked through - 5 min.

Recipe fm Dad
Polenta
1 l Water boil up
1 l Milk
Chicken soup stock add
Nutmeg, pepper add
Abt. 450 g Polenta be careful because of the lumps; stir, boil up
100 g Butter add, put all in a fireproof form and cover
Brew it with 110 to 150 ° Celsius 1 up to 4 hrs in the oven
(the longer, the better) You may also add cheese (Gruyère or mushrooms i.e. dried boletus which you soak in water – fresh ones are good too – yet dried ones have more flavour…) ;)
BON APPETIT!!!

I don't have a clue what they are called but I call them "Peach Bums". They are round cakes that look like a peach with a pastry cream filling. They are usually rolled in a peach colored sugar.
