I get a lot of questions about how I keep my locks healthy and shiny.
Easy.
And cheap.
Once a week and sometimes more (If I have more than one day off from work):
I put a dab of extra virgin olive oil in the palm of my hands, gently rub palms together and scrunch into hair (middle of hair shaft down to the ends) and comb through with a wide tooth comb. Just let the natural oil soak into your hair for the day or do this at night, wrap ends of hair and sleep away.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, and my love of all things pumpkin is hardly waning. From yogurt to muffins, I relish this tasty flavor of Fall. If you're looking for a pumpkin pie alternative, these pumpkin-carrot bars are delish.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because I love all the warm, savory dishes. This one has been in my family for years and it's sweet, creamy, and has a crunchy topping that reminds me of homemade mac and cheese. It's easy to prepare ahead of time, and is a great alternative to mashed potatoes or stuffing.

The Absolutely Worst Bill Ever
By Peter Ferrara on 11.11.09 @ 6:08AM
"The Worst Bill Ever." That is the title the always calm and rational Wall Street Journal put on its editorial on November 1 about the government health care takeover bill that passed the House last week on virtually a party line vote, 220-215. But even this label doesn't fully communicate the outright assault on the American people involved in this legislation.

This goes along with the story that I posted in 4.0 about Meatless Mondays in Baltimore schools
Jon Stewart ended an interview with climate-change contrarian and Super Freakonomics co-author Steven Levitt on Monday night by noting, "I've apparently frightened our audience by suggesting that conservation isn't the only way out of any of the problems of the world. I sincerely apologize."
He added, "And I do also believe that we should just eat vegetables."

Due to the frozen pizza recall last week, we've been forced to get our pizza fixes other ways. Being that most frozen pizzas are not healthy, the silver lining was that this was a good opportunity for all of us to rid our freezers of them anyway.
User steen, not willing to tempt fate by buying any more frozen pizzas, found a fabulous recipe for Power Pizza Bagels from Parenting.com that was too good not to share with everyone!

Does God Favor an Unlimited State?
By Mark Tooley on 9.8.09 @ 6:07AM
The Religious Left sacramentalizes nearly every proposed expansion of the Welfare State, with government-controlled health care its favorite sacrament. Supporting arguments are usual superficial: Jesus loved the poor, therefore the state must displace all other human institutions and provide every human need.

Experts Say Past Nonprofit Co-Ops Could Not, or Would Not, Compete With Private Insurers
By LAUREN COX
ABC News Medical Unit
Aug. 18, 2009—

The Whole Foods Alternative to ObamaCare
Eight things we can do to improve health care without adding to the deficit.
By JOHN MACKEY
"The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money."
—Margaret Thatcher
With a projected $1.8 trillion deficit for 2009, several trillions more in deficits projected over the next decade, and with both Medicare and Social Security entitlement spending about to ratchet up several notches over the next 15 years as Baby Boomers become eligible for both, we are rapidly running out of other people's money.
