Patrick Swayze’s rep confirmed last Wednesday that the beloved actor is suffering from pancreatic cancer, but said that reports that doctors gave him just five weeks to live were not true. He said “Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects.” WENN is reporting that Swayze has had to drop out of his latest film Fired Up, in which he was going to play a gay cheerleading instructor. This panel started off with a surprise appearance by Neil Gaiman and director Henry Selick (Nightmare Before Christmas). You might remember from my Paramount Pictures panel post that Neil Gaiman was deemed Comic-Con's "Guest of Honor" this year as he had so many upcoming projects to talk about. I was very sorry to have missed his exclusive panel on Friday in lieu of Clive Owen and Shoot 'Em Up (battle of my two favorite Brits!), though his surprise visit told me that I might be able to obtain tickets to a special sneak peek of his 2008 stop motion animation film Coraline.
