Why? McD's doesn't have to be every where.
PARIS – French culture and American convenience will come together in December — thanks to plans by the McDonald's restaurant chain to hang its shingle in the shadow of the Louvre.

((I took out some local, political details, and composting tips ))
Throwing orange peels, coffee grounds and grease-stained pizza boxes in the trash will be against the law in San Francisco, and could even lead to a fine.
The Board of Supervisors voted 9-2 Tuesday to approve Mayor Gavin Newsom's proposal for the most comprehensive mandatory composting and recycling law in the country. It's an aggressive push to cut greenhouse gas emissions and have the city sending nothing to landfills or incinerators by 2020.

1. Worst fast-food chicken meal
Chicken Selects Premium Breast Strips from McDonald's (5 pieces) with creamy ranch sauce
830 calories
55 grams (g) fat (4.5 g trans fat)
48 g carbohydrates
The only thing "premium" about these strips is the caloric price you pay. Add a large fries and regular soda and this seemingly innocuous chicken meal tops out at 1,710 calories.

Not long ago I had an apple problem. Wavering in the produce section of a Manhattan grocery store, I was unable to decide between an organic apple and a nonorganic apple (which was labeled conventional, since that sounds better than "sprayed with pesticides that might kill you"). It shouldn't have been a tough choice--who wants to eat pesticide residue?--but the organic apples had been grown in California.

IMO this is additional, and clearer (due to the aristocratic connections), evidence that eco-fascism is one more tool in the hands of the privileged to keep the lower classes and developing countries from bettering their circumstances.

Revenge of the Aristocrats [Brendan O’Neill]
Prince Charles, the heir to the British throne who is most famous for talking to plants, has signed a deal to make a movie and write a book about climate change. The project will be called “Harmony,” because, in Charles’s words, humankind must “rediscover that sense of harmony, that sense of being a part of, rather apart from, nature.” His film will educate the unruly masses — with their fast cars, fridges, and other planet-destroying luxuries — that human beings “have a sacred duty of stewardship of the natural order of things.”
The thought of being lectured about living more meekly by a taxpayer-subsidized prince who has never done a proper day’s work in his life — and who is currently flying around Europe on a private jet with a master suite and plush bathroom that will spew a whopping 53 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere over the course of his five-day, $116,000 charter — is of course eye-swivellingly irritating.

I just came across this great blog over on recipetips.com and I thought that I would share it with you - it's got everything from how to clean your crockpot to great features that you can choose from in today's world of slow cookery.
About Slow Cooking
Slow cooking is a cooking method that uses an electrical countertop appliance referred to as a slow cooker. Slow cookers are often referred to as Crock-Pots®, which is actually a brand name for a type of slow cooker.

It's a Top Chef knockoff but unlike existing shows, on Chopped, there are four new chefs that compete on each episode. The one that wins that episode receives $10,000. After each course, the one with the worst food is "chopped."

Had only passed quickly in the neighbor house – at Ummi’s and Mufida’s – and now all these little sparkles in front of my eyes – low blood pressure, again…
It had happened when I still had been working at Citibank – those were the days – I missed all my colleagues… Yet such was life. I was in Libya and America was far away in every case – nothing fm there was available because of the embargo… Except dollars… ;) How interesting – why did they deal with dollars???
Well – I do ask too many questions which are not really convenient…
Salah was overprotective he always wanted to go to hospital when Athana moved or I was in pain.
