Hugh Jackman Has a Cell Phone Rant - Did You?

Last weekend I decided to go to the movies alone. Just me, a small bag of popcorn, and a movie I've been dying to see. A movie that was then interrupted by a ringing cell phone. Seriously? I haven't been to a movie in the past year (at least!) that hasn't featured a "Please silence your cell phones" PSA before it starts. I was in honest disbelief that the phone rang so loudly, and grew angrier when the phone's owner didn't attempt to silence it. Thirty seconds after the ringing stopped and as I tried to re-engage in the movie: "Ding!" a voice mail notification. The audience groaned audibly.

The experience reminded me of a TMZ video I'd seen a few months ago. It features the actors Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig in the middle of a performance of their play, A Steady Rain as the show is interrupted by a ringing phone. Hugh (understandably!) went off on a rant, while somehow keeping his composure enough to remain in character. (You can also check out his rant in the second half of this episode of PopSugar Rush).

Do you have a cell phone rant of your own? We have all been there, and the best thing to do when you have a rant is to share it. Join the Cell Phone Rant group and give me your best, most annoying tales of the rude cell phone users in your world - your story could be featured on GeekSugar. Here's a detailed guide to posting questions or posts to groups if you are new to the PopSugar Community.

Rant: If you're sick, stay home!

So here's another rant from me because I just got home from class an I'm fired up! I'm in class full-time this summer. This particular rant is inspired by a lovely individual in my Anthropology class. (I'm in a co-op program through my university which means alternating terms of class/work... this summer happens to be class).

I spent the better part of an hour today sitting in front of a Kurt Cobain wannabe hacking all over my back. Not only is physically repulsive with his half black half pee-yellow hair, but he had the most rancid case of body odor I've ever had the displeasure to smell. Add to that some sort of disease that caused him to hack out his intestines for the duration of my class. I lasted about an hour before I got up and moved seats for the remainder of my 3 hour night class.

Seriously though... how hard is it to just stay home if you're sick? I don't want to get sick. I don't want to smell you. I also don't want to feel the need to douse myself in anti-bacterial gel in the middle of my class.

Oh and to add to the visual, he was wearing bright lime green Modrobes. Last time I checked, those stopped being cool when I was in the 7th grade (aka 10 years ago).

For those of you who don't remember:

Cell Phone Rant: Potty Talk

So far, the Cell Phone Rant group seems to be a cathartic place to unload all your frustrations with the rest of the oblivious cell phone world - in fact, I have even read a couple stories with my mouth agape, and it's pretty hard to surprise me!

My fave new cell phone rant comes to us from MartiniLush, who encountered a gabber in the place we expect a little privacy: The Ladies' restroom.

MartiniLush says: "So, I am at work one day last week and run into the ladies room to do my business. From the stall next to me, I hear someone talking and I am thinking 'wtf?'"

To see the rest of MartiniLush's story, just read more.

". . . Yep, she was on a cell phone, having a rather personal conversation. . . all the while people are coming in and out, flushing, etc. . . I couldn't believe it!"

I don't know who I feel weirder for; the people like MartiniLush who had to listen to the conversation while trying to use the restroom in peace, or the person on the other end of the call, who heard the flushes!

Get the story and comments here, and don't forget to join the group!

New geeksugar Group: Cell Phone Rant!

Haven't we all been in the movies, enjoying our tub of popcorn, when the jerk in front of you lets his cell phone ring and ring? And then to your shock and horror, he has the nerve to answer it?! And what about when you are strolling the aisles of Target, having a fine time picking out cotton swabs, when a fellow shopper is practically yelling into your ear on her cell about her sister's roommate's boyfriend's divorce? Don't even get me started on folks at the gym, gabbing away as you elliptical, miserably, next to them.

We have all been there, and the best thing to do when you have a rant is to share it. That's why I've created a new geek group, just for venting your stories about someone who pissed you off by either answering their phone at an inappropriate place or time, or someone who TMI'd you at great volume. So join my Cell Phone Rant group and your story might get featured right here, on the geeksugar home page!

Grr | Random rant of the night!

Okay, this is completely random and I don't even know if anyone's going to be able to relate, but something that I've been noticing lately (I'm trying to make this impersonal as I can-you've heard about those women who blog about work and get in trouble for it) is how negative or "real" people can be.

Don't get me wrong, I don't really appreciate it when people sugarcoat things, but sometimes people lack self-control. During my transition from high school to college, I realized that I was a negative person and decided to see the brighter side and saw that the glass was and IS half full. Life is sweet.

Presently, I still speak my mind, but I know when to keep my mouth shut. I wish certain people had censor bars or something! I think cursing after every other word is soo unattractive and it gives me a freakin' headache!

Anyway, I just wish these people (that I'm talking about) would stop using the "I'm just being real, I'm telling you how it is, etc" excuse and just be civilized. Good lawd! Maybe they just need to be laid. Muahahaha.

Btw, if you are one of these people, this is purely my opinion and if you have one, that's great. Do tell and we can talk about it. (=

Britney’s Profane Court Rant Memorialized in New Music Video

L.A.-based comedian Eric "Smooth-E" Schwartz took "Eat it, lick it, snort it, f--- it" – which Spears’ snapped on Oct. 26 during a break in her custody
hearing – and created a parody that includes him telling a Taco Bell drive thru worker "It’s Britney, b---ch," running over a paparazzo’s foot while driving with Starbucks straws up his nose, and whipping off a wig to reveal a bald head.

"I recorded the song after a stand up show Saturday night in a hotel room in Chicago," Schwartz, who also created the "Sanjaya Anthem" earlier this year, tells Us. "By 6 p.m. Tuesday, it was done."

Schwartz, who filmed the video in Sherman Oaks, California, jokes of his roughly eight-word song, "The lyrics took me forever to write."

The comic debuted his song live at a stand up show on Monday.

"A lot of times, the audience eats it up, but this time they ate it, licked it, snorted it and f---ed it," he jokes.

Product Rant (as opposed to a Review) : Smashbox Anti-shine

Can anyone help me out here??
Being a fan of smashbox and also a fan of anything that makes my face shine-free (I usually just blot), I bought this product a few weeks back, I bought the clear version.

I like it cos it makes my face (actually just the T-zone) instantly drier after application.
After I put on my foundation etc, the overall look is patchy!! How can this be?? Even my friends noticed.

So now I am not using it anymore, and I am back to my old routine.
I am pretty sure I follow the instructions carefully, I was told to use it under foundation, before concealer and all that. So why this??
I dun wish to waste this product, so can anyone help me out here???

Smashbox.com > Face > Anti-Shine

My boyfriend's idea of our future is completely depressing to me but I can't seem to make myself break up with him.

I've been dating my boyfriend for over 4 years now and it has become apparent that he and I do not have the same ideas about the future. I've talked to him about all this- reluctantly- since it's like pulling teeth. He always complains that we're too young to think about this (he's 24) but after 4+ years together, I think it's reasonable to have a freaking conversation. But after these conversations I'm just left completely depressed. He doesn't believe in marriage, kids (I'm ok with this one), taking his last name, engagment rings, etc - and I do (with the exception of the kids). He says he "might" change his mind about marriage, but right now he finds the institution sad, pathetic, broken, etc. Last night he also went on some rants about the commercialism of weddings and engagement rings. (I completely agree that this is a problem, but the difference with me is that I still value these things for their original meanings).

I am just fed up at this point. I feel depressed about my future with my boyfriend because he just seems so cynical and I can't be sure he will ever change his mind about this stuff. I think I need to break up with him but I'm not sure how to do this, or even if I should. Our relationship is pretty darn close to perfect in every other respect and I feel like I would be throwing out an almost-perfect guy. I guess I'm just confused and need a little help here.

My Husband is Driving me Crazy!!!

OMG, it's like this man is out to piss me off today.

First of all, I have the next three days off of work and I am very much looking forward to spending them all by myself. The last time I took a day off my husband decided to do the same, which was fine, but now I really want my alone time.

However, we only have one car, my husband is working overtime today and tomorrow so I have to take him to work and take the boy to day care so that I can pick up the boy before the day care closes and then we do whatever, run errands, eat dinner, go home, etc. until it is time to pick him up. So this cuts into my day. Like if he just left at 7:30 to drop off the boy and go to work I would have from 7:30 until almost 6:00 tonight to myself. Now though I didn't get home from dropping them both off until 8:30 and then I'm picking up the boy from day care at 5:00, which means instead of 10.5 hours to myself, I now have 8.5 hours. Now, I realize that this is necessary, a consequence of choosing to have one vehicle, and I love picking up my son from day care. However, my husband was TOTALLY dragging his feet this morning, not worried about getting out of the house on time, and when I asked him what was going on he's like well you have a day off so I can take my time this morning. You could drop me off at 8 and then drop off the boy (putting me home even later), blah blah. And I'm like, I'm sorry, this day is not about you. It's about me. And I want time to myself. I work my behind off at a job I don't even like that much (looking for a new one), you have been working overtime so much lately, which translates to me working overtime with our son, who I notice a difference in behavior when his dad is gone so much, and I have a billion things I want/need to get done in the next three days, so if you don't mind I'd like to get the two of you to work/day care as quickly as possible. I didn't say any of that I just said, well I'd really like to get you guys off as soon as possible so that I can begin my time alone. And he gets all bent out of shape like I'm trying to kick him out the door (which I am, but I'm trying to be nice and PC about it).

THEN, he tells ME, the neat OCD freak of the house, that I don't clean something properly. But he like says it under his breath so I'm like what? And he says Oh I don't want to get into it right now. BULL sh*t. If he didn't want to get into anything, HE WOULDN'T HAVE SAID ANYTHING IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! I hate that crap. So I'm like, don't worry, this entire house will be SUPER clean when he gets home tonight, up to "your" standard.

So I finally get home from dropping off the two of them and there is this stray kitty in our condo complex that we see all the time. One night last fall we had our front door open for the breeze and it just walked in our house! We have fed it a million times and it just hangs out around our complex and other people probably do the same thing. So I see the cat, pet it, and I go inside and get two little melamine bowls that my son uses and fill one with milk and one with water, and set them on the front porch for kitty. I go inside and partially close the front door and start to work on stuff around the house and I remember the bowls in like two hours, I go outside and they are gone. I figured the manager took them because I'm sure they don't want to encourage feeding the stray cat. I call the office and she says she didn't see or hear anything but she'll ask the grounds guy. I call my husband and tell him, and he's all mad at me! He's like those were expensive, they were part of a set (it's a children's set that my son uses) and now the set is broken up, and the boy uses them all the time. Like I didn't think all of that on my own, now he's beating me up too.

I was all ready to kick ass today in the list of things I wanted to do but now all I want to do is crawl into bed and die because OBVIOUSLY I'm not worth anything to him, all mean, dirty, and irresponsible with melamine bowls.

So this is really just a rant for me, nobody has to respond. I'm sure I'm the one who is in the wrong and being selfish, and I'll get over it in a little bit but I had to get it out somehow.

and and and

He's and I'm !

Wanting fairness makes me wrong...I guess

BIG ole rant here. So I am doing the Breast Cancer 3-Day here in two days. Yeah! I am soooo excited. I've been training for like...ever. Walking many, many miles in preparation. As well as actually walking 60 miles in 3 days, we are REQUIRED to raise AT LEAST $2200. Everyone who signs up agrees to this from the get go, and knows the amount they need to raise.

SO - with two days to go, I am browsing the message boards on the 3-Day site. It's fun and informative, especially since this is my first time doing this walk. For the last week I keep seeing pleas for money in the 'on event' section. Things like 'I am a college student - I still have $1100 to raise! Help!' or 'My husband left me and I am struggling financially'. You know what? Fine. I get that. BUT - you had the same amount of time to raise money as I did. I have very few resources. I AM a single mother. I DON'T have wealthy friends. NOBODY who donated to me works for an employer with Matching Gift Donations.

You know what I did? I baked goodies in my studio size oven every Tuesday night and sold them INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED at work the next day. Do you know how much time that took? With a teeny-tiny oven? Baking in the middle of summer all night long? But I did it. I also went through every single item in my house and determined weather or not I needed it, and sold what I could live without at a garage sale. The items that didn't sell I packed up, took to my Mom's house and had a sale there two weeks later. I sent fundraising letters to everyone under the sun I could think of. I talked myself and the walk up to everyone I came in contact with. I worked HARD to raise the money for the walk. Literally sweating for my work. So where were these folks this whole time and what exactly were they doing to fund raise? If they tell me they did all that I did and more, I simply don't buy it. I did it, so can they.

For one of the latest pleas for help I had finally had enough. I pointed out that to even have done the on-line check in you had to put up a credit card for the balance due. You had to promise to pay what you didn't raise. You were given an extra month extension for this, and even given the option of breaking down the balance into 4 monthly installments. It was after pointing this out that I got more pissed by thinking about it. I just said that I was peeved that all these people were basically asking us to now fundraise for them so they can participate this weekend. I acknowledged that we are all working for the same goal (funding for Breast Cancer Research) and that of course all the money goes to the same place. I simply wanted to state that some of us worked REALLY hard to raise money and it didn't seem fair that others simply waited for the pity vote at the 18th hour.

Then the replies came. 'Oh I admire her for asking for help. That took courage.' Really? Begging and making yourself sound pathetic takes courage? 'We are all in it for the same thing. Would you not offer her a band-aid if she needed one?' Seriously? You are comparing getting a blister after hoofing it for 20 miles to having been given months on end to do what you agreed to do when you signed up? I wanted to shoot back and ask if these women even trained for the event or are they simply going to hope they make it and then ask for help to get to camp at the end of the day. It's equivalent to the same thing. You work to raise the money, you work to train. You agreed to all this. Don't they remember???

I finally went back and edited my post to just point out that they still had time. I was obviously going to be out-numbered in my point. I didn't want to make a big deal and fight over it. Especially since I'm sure I'll come across these women this weekend. I'll just have to bite my tongue. Guess I'm wrong for wanting it all to be fair.
