WASHINGTON - The government has buried its nose in Bari Lynne Williams's personal business.
Almost literally.
Twenty-four hours a day, whether she's jogging, sleeping or managing a pool hall, Williams wears a high-tech sensor on her ankle that can detect the faintest whiff of alcohol in her perspiration.

The argument over whether same-sex couples should marry in the District is about a decade past its expiration date. The reality of people's lives long ago outstripped the usefulness of the gay marriage debate.
You can go to just about any public space in this city today and see same-sex couples: Two women picking over the tomatoes at the Anacostia farmers market; two men taking notes at a PTA meeting on Capitol Hill; two women arguing in a Georgetown restaurant over who does the dishes and who pays the bills -- the things all married couples do.

Imagine if, as you chat with your child's first-grade teacher and ask about how he decided to embark on a career in education, he told you, "I walked out of jail and into my first teaching job."
Imagine him furthermore telling you that his days in jail and violent protesting were formative to his teaching philosophy.
Most parents would have a serious discussion with the principal, at the minimum.

Standing Athwart Nationalization
By John Berlau
My organization, the Competitive Enterprise Institute, has frequently been accused of being "in denial" regarding important issues. It's a charge we most often wear as a badge of honor, because most often, our accusers are too quick to jettison important facts and/or principles that we feel must shape the public policy debate.
The latest accusation of "denial" is on a different issue -- bailouts and government takeovers -- and targeted at a different CEI scholar -- me.

There's Plenty of Energy at the Bottom
By William Tucker
On December 29, 1959, on the threshold of the 1960s, Richard Feynman, "the best mind since Einstein" and interpreter of quantum mechanics, gave a lecture at the California Institute of Technology that is generally regarded to be the opening bell of the Information Age. It was titled, "There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom."
"There is a device on the market, they tell me, that can write the Lord's Prayer on the head of a pin," Feynman began.

Fit Brains brain games are more than just “brain teasers”, which are generally designed to challenge the mind in a more general way. It’s like the difference between going for a walk, which is a good general purpose exercise, or going to the gym for circuit training with a personal trainer for a deeper, more well-rounded workout.

You don't need to belong to a gym to get strong; you just need the time to fit in a little strength training. I created a full-body circuit workout that takes about 20 minutes, fits in your living room, and only requires a set of dumbbells. If you don't have hand weights, this workout will still strengthen and tone you all over.
