Hi Fit,
The Olympics inspired me to get out and race, but I am looking for something more fun than just running. I would like to do some kind of obstacle race or fitness challenge. I guess I am looking for the thrill of adventure with a fitness element. Can you help me find a race?

Wow! Sounds like you are looking for something that is a cross between parkour and an open water swim. The craziest race I could find was the Nettle Warrior Tough Guy race in the UK with obstacles like burning bales of hay, electric fences, and icy streams. Nettle Warrior also has the Guy Gorilla race on Feb. 1, 2009, but sounds like you want some stateside options, so

For serious fitness competition, there is the Navy Seal Fitness Challenge. The event combines a 500-yard swim, calisthenics (read: pull-ups and more!), plus a 1.5-mile run. You can participate in Chicago, San Antonio, LA, and Dearborn, MI.
The Urban Dare is part photo treasure hunt, part trivia, and part dares. The dares are mental or physical challenges such as climbing a wall, shooting a few baskets, solving a riddle, or eating something, but nothing slimy like you see on Fear Factor.
Urbanathlon is sponsored by Men's Health in Chicago on Oct. 18 as well as NYC on Sept. 27 (but this date is already sold out), and it is not just for the dudes. The entrance fee is $90, but you get a month's free membership to Crunch gym for training. This race is an urban obstacle course that uses features of the city to create challenges.
Rat Races are urban adventure challenges that take place all over the UK. Participants run, mountain bike, and kayak as they navigate a course revealed hours before the race begins. These could be an excuse to travel to the other side of the Atlantic without having to endure the downright craziness of the the Tough Guy races I mentioned above.
City Chase is an urban adventure laced with challenges designed to test not only your physical abilities, but your mental and spiritual ones as well. It is part obstacle course, and part scavenger hunt.

I Double Dog Dare You: Urban Dare

Do you dream of being on The Amazing Race but CBS hasn't come a calling?

Here's your chance... well, sort of. Urban Dare is the team race that’s part photo hunt, part trivia and part dares. Teams of 2 work together to solve clues to find checkpoints throughout the city. To move on they must take photos or perform dares to earn passport stamps. Each team must determine their own route to the checkpoints. Most teams will cover about 5 to 7 miles and finish in about 3 or 4 hours. The Urban Dare challenge is to be the first team to cross the finish line after successfully completing checkpoint dares and getting required photos. Be sure to bring your digital camera as some of the checkpoints require proof that you were actually there!

Urban Dare is $90 for a two person team. Each entrant must wear their Urban Dare t-shirt during the race. The first one is on April 21st in Washington, DC and the last one is December 1st in San Antonio, TX. The CMT Music Awards lit up Nashville tonight with country's brightest stars coming together to celebrate music. Actress Nicole Kidman escorted her husband, Keith Urban, down the red carpet before taking their seats and chatting with Shania Twain, Justin Bieber, and the members of Sugarland. Fresh off a win at Sunday's MTV Movie Awards Justin added another statue to his trophy case, sharing the collaborative video of the year award with Rascal Flatts for "That Should Be Me." Sheryl Crow strutted onto the stage for a duet with Kid Rock and showed off her legs in a daringly short skirt before giving Kid a big embrace at the end of their performance. A few major names, and winners, were unable to make the show due to scheduling conflicts. Taylor Swift took home the win for video of the year and although she taped the show's opening skit with Shania she had to accept her statue via satellite. The Voice's Blake Shelton missed the show, but he still took home the win for best male video and best web video of the year. First time attendees American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina were welcomed with a roaring applause from the crowd before introducing Sugarland to the stage.

If you’re a fashionable girl working in a buttoned-up, ultra conservative world, dressing professionally is an absolute must. Unfortunately, professional settings are not exactly friendly to the fashion forward. Luckily, you can maintain a level of style by working in fashionable elements through subtle accessories and chic silhouettes.
Business professional attire for women is very similar to what men are expected to wear: The Power Suit. No, this doesn’t mean you have to wear a boxy jacket, pinstripe pants and a tie… Instead, opt for a slim cut pantsuit, a skit and jacket combination, or a structured (and modest) dress.

The Ladies Show Skin and Get Glam at the 2011 Grammys

The Grammy Awards were all about glamour and glitz in LA tonight. Kim Kardashian led the pack of ladies who wore gold in a revealing Kaufman Franco gown, while Heidi Klum followed suit in a cut-out Julien Macdonald dress. Presenter Jennifer Lopez went short in a metallic Emilio Pucci mini and was joined by her husband Marc Anthony on the red carpet. A winged Armani-clad Katy Perry had her man Russell Brand, who was fresh off a stint hosting SNL, and her 90-year-old grandmother by her side on her way into the show, as Selena Gomez showed up solo in J. Mendel. Miley Cyrus rounded up the shining stars in a "tiger pelt" Roberto Cavalli that also showed her new dream catcher tattoo.

The night wasn't just about the sparkle though, as lots of guests chose basic black and navy for the event. Lea Michele was on trend in a thigh-baring Emilio Pucci dress, while her Glee costars Dianna Agron, in Vivienne Westwood, and Jenna Ushkowitz in Pamela Dennis, both chose the dark hue. Jennifer Hudson rocked a Versace number before changing into a tight pantsuit to perform, while Selma Blair covered up her baby bump in Lanvin.

Eva Longoria got glam in black and white Ashi Studio while Rihanna wowed in a daring, see-through Gaultier. Kelly Osbourne, who also attended Clive Davis' annual pre-Grammys bash, went with lavender Tadashi Shoji, and Julianne Hough looked fresh-faced in a printed Malandrino despite feeling the effects of jet-lag from her recent trip overseas. Nicole Kidman, also in Jean Paul Gaultier, was there to support her husband Keith Urban after celebrating her own weekend box office success for Just Go With It.
