Fab Finding Follow Up: A Tropical Winter Escape!

It's about that time. It's about that time that people are in the midst of winter and needing refuge! The best winter escape: a tropical paradise. Also, isn't Spring Break right around the corner for you students out there? While a lot of us are bundled up right now, let's not forget what wonders a little R & R can do for the soul. I am a flip flop junkie in warm weather so I started you off with these Reef Krystal Glitter flip flops, $19.

Upcoming Cannes Films Take New Looks at World's Oldest Profession

A young Japanese student who sells herself to pay for school gets hired by an elderly academic. A middle-aged Austrian woman travels to the beaches of Kenya looking for young African men to fall in love with, or at least sleep with. Two new films to be shown at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival will feature these very different scenarios starring the world's oldest profession. If you enjoy exploring human relationships through the lens of foreign films, here's why you might want to keep Paradise: Love and Like Someone in Love on your radar.

In Ulrich Seidl's Paradise: Love, Teresa is a 50 year-old Austrian mom with a teenage daughter. On her tropical African vacation to Kenya, Teresa goes from one "beach boy" to the next looking for a fulfilling fling, only to realize her encounters are merely business transactions. The filmmaker, Ulrich Seidl, researched for two years in Kenya, where some locals say one in five single female tourists from rich countries come looking for sex, and the movie stars actual working "beach boys" from the area. Paradise: Love promises to examine the business behind this unusual sex tourism and the influence of age, gender, and skin color on the market value of sexuality. Below is a slightly NSFW clip from the film.

Taking us from the beaches of Kenya to a home in Tokyo, Like Someone in Love gives viewers a more familiar premise. An elderly academic hires a young female student to have sex with him at his home. Few specific details are known about the film, by Iranian director and Cannes veteran Abbas Kiarostami, but the synopsis promises that the "web that is woven between them in the space of 24 hours bears no relation to the circumstances of their encounter." The trailer, with Ella Fitzgerald's voice appropriately singing "Like Somebody in Love" over the intriguing scenes, definitely draws you into what looks like a complex tale of relationships. Orlando Bloom Hits the Beach With Flynn For Sweet Father-Son Moment

Orlando Bloom and Flynn went for a walk on the beach in New Zealand yesterday. The father-son duo was wearing matching yellow sneakers for the Mother's Day outing. Miranda continued the special holiday with Flynn in her arms as they made their way through the airport in Sydney. Miranda met up with her own mom, who she says "is one of the strongest and most dynamic women I know," and grandmother during the trip.

It's been a busy few weeks of travels for the Kerr-Bloom family, who also popped up in Bora Bora for a vacation earlier this month. Miranda showed off her bikini body during the tropical getaway while Orlando went shirtless in the ocean with Flynn.

If you're thinking of forgoing your usual Summer travel plans due to high prices, you should consider these frugal trip ideas from Wise Bread.

One of the things that I love most about going on vacation is the chance to break out of my everyday routine, eat crappy foods guilt-free, and stay up blissfully late watching as much trashy reality TV as I please. Setting aside daily responsibilities, trying new things, being in a different space, and having carefree fun is refreshing. But while it’d be nice to go to Fiji or another distant tropical paradise, that just isn't reality for a lot of us.

So what do you do when money is tight, you don’t want to get further into debt, and you really need a vacation? You still take a vacation, but just a frugal one. One that your budget will love. Here are eight frugal summer vacation ideas to get you going.

1. The All-American, Almighty Road-Trip Vacation

About 10 years ago, my husband was able to travel through 30 different states in the span of a month and a half with a friend in a $400 1982 Chevy Sprint. It’s an experience he’ll never forget, and while gas prices do get high in the summer, the road trip is still one of the cheapest options for frugal vacations. Grab a map, pack a large cooler, stop at grocery stores along the way, sing cheesy songs, tell stories you’ve never told before, watch the sun rise and set, and make yourself some memories. (This can be combined with the “I Had No Idea There Were Over 400 National Parks” vacation below, if you’re feeling adventurous.)

2. The Infamous Staycation Vacation

Set a time frame. If you can only get two to three days off from work (or less), that’s OK! This is how you do it - turn off the phones, put an auto reply on your email, turn off the computer (and really keep it off), don’t check your usual social media feeds, and really allow yourself a break from everyday life and the technology that comes along with it. Then go to the grocery store and get sundae supplies: ice cream, candy toppings, hot fudge, caramel, and whipped cream, and why not throw in some cherries too? You are on vacation after all! Rent those guilty-pleasure movies you’ve been wanting to see, and settle in for a movie marathon. Those books and magazines that have been stacking up? This is the time to read them! Those museum exhibits you’ve been dying to see but just don’t have the time for? Go check ‘em out! Hanging with friends on a patio on a random Tuesday night? Go for it! The point is to have fun, indulge in some pleasures you normally don’t get to, and get out of your normal routine.

Bikini-Clad Rachel Bilson Returns to the Beach With Shirtless Hayden Christensen

Rachel Bilson broke out a printed bikini and hit the white sandy beaches of Barbados yesterday with shirtless Hayden Christensen. Rachel and Hayden are fans of the tropical island getaway and were spotted vacationing in the Caribbean with friends last Spring. She's enjoying some well-deserved R&R while her prime-time show, Hart of Dixie, returned with a new episode on Monday.

The first season of her doctor comedy is coming to a close, though still no word if the series will be picked up for next Fall. While Rachel awaits news about the show, she's also prepping for the April 13 release of her latest film, L!fe Happens. Kate Bosworth and Krysten Ritter star with Rachel in the comedy, which explores what happens to best friends when one of them has a baby.
