Tell Mommy: Do You Limit Your Child's TV Time? A recent study from the University of Chicago found that television might not be turning our children's minds to mush after all. According to the study the boob tube can help expose lil ones to the outside world and those who watch it actually do slightly better on tests. Of course, what your child is watching, and how long he is watching it needs to be factored in.

Do You Waste A Lot of Time Channel Surfing?

Do You Waste A Lot of Time Channel Surfing? Did you know that digital TV viewers in the UK spend an average of three and a half hours a week channel surfing? The results didn't indicate whether the participants (aged 16-20) had DVRs, which I'm assuming would alter the total amount of time. Ever since my TiVo entered my life, I no longer have to worry about bouncing around from channel to channel, hoping to find something that peaks my interest — because I always have hours of taped shows that I know I'll love.

Inspired: Autumnal Tones From Life on Mars I've recently gotten hooked on the bizarre detective/sci-fi hybrid show Life on Mars. The show follows NYPD Detective Sam Tyler's trials and travails when he's transported back to 1973 after being hit by a car in present-day New York. Yeah, I know it sounds odd, but it's pretty compelling prime-time television.

Björk, On How TVs Work

Björk, On How TVs Work Though not as hilarious as Audrina learning about the Large Hadron Collider, but adorable for a different reason, this video of Björk demonstrating what goes on inside the guts of a television is my new favorite YouTube video. Listen to her (I could listen to her explain just about anything in that Icelandic accent) tell you what she learned from her Danish television book, and of course, the lies she endured from poets. Trust me: it makes sense after you watch the video.

Before and After: Betty's Ugly Apartment I have a soft spot for makeovers, even ones on television sitcoms. Remember when I asked you if you'd ever been tricked about an apartment? Betty Suarez, one of my favorite characters on television today, certainly was.

Will You Watch the Duggar Show? We know the Gosselin family has a loyal fan base and we think it's deservedly so. Daddy Jon and mama Kate make the most of their life with eight darling kiddos that light up the screen. From hectic grocery runs to chaotic birthday parties, the family somehow seems to manage it all with a bit of elbow grease and plenty of smiles.

MTV: Destroying the Rain Forest in Reality?

MTV: Destroying the Rain Forest in Reality? MTV may be on a "Green Crusade" but for one piece of Panama's rain forest, actions speak louder than words. After filming the latest Road Rules/Real World Challenge, MTV took trashy TV to a new level, turning part of a rain forest into a garbage dump. MTV's green offenses include: clearing a large section of rain forest for the set, trashing a pristine beach, disturbing an off-limits bird sanctuary island, and leaving behind large amounts of trash and debris.

Gordon Ramsay Has More Brewing With Fox In a deal between Fox and star chef Gordon Ramsay, the chef has signed on for at least two more seasons of Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, a live cooking special, and — get this — yet another series. Ramsay's third show will be based on his current British series Man Camp, a sort of boot camp for men, who are put through physical and intellectual challenges. The live cooking special will encourage "young, vibrant, and tenacious" viewers to cook a meal with the chef at home.
