Start Now to Prevent Achy, Tired, and Sore Feet This Summer

Whether your feet are sore from a long run or a night on the dance floor, there's one thing for certain - achy, throbbing feet can put a damper on your day, not to mention your workout. With Spring in full swing and Summer fast approaching, chances are you'll be using your feet more and more, whether it's a steady stream of weekend hiking or enjoying the outdoors with longer runs. But before you break out the sandals, check out these tips for making sure you are taking care of those oft-neglected body parts.

Roll with it. Use an ice-cold water bottle or a fuzzy tennis ball (or buy a Rubz ball) to roll on the bottoms of your feet for the perfect remedy after a long hike or run, or even just from standing for too long. Doing this along with a regular stretching routine will help prevent any overuse injuries.
Stop the flop. With the weather warming up, you may find yourself reaching for your flip-flops, but reserve them for the gym shower. Flip-flops lack support for your arches and Achilles tendon, and they also cause your muscles to work overtime in an awkward way. Toes need some air? Check out these feet-friendly sandal options.
Heal your heels. Dry heels can lead to painful heel fissures, which can prevent you from being able to exercise the way you want to (no one wants to endure painful cracked heels while they run!). Summer is prime time for cracked heels since our feet are more exposed to the dry air, so take time and develop your heel healing routine before it's sandal weather.
Groom correctly. Long toenails aren't just gross to look at, they can cause problems while you're running by cutting into skin around it, but short nails can be a hassle too - they can become ingrown and painful, which also limits your exercising capabilities. Make sure you groom your nails carefully before you have to deal with these issues.

Home Spa Treatment: Salt Foot Scrub

Are your feet just plain sick of pulling on and off those heavy winter boots? Are your dogs tired of being stuffed into dark shoes? Are your feet calloused from hibernating in heavy socks? Well now is the time to do some spring cleaning of your feet. Try this salt scrub to rejuvenate your tired feet while smoothing out the callouses.

Mix together:

1 Tablespoon of coarse, clean sand
1/4 cup light canola oil
1/4 cup liquid hand soap
1/4 cup sea salt
1/4 cup Epsom salt

If you have any essential oils on hand you can add about 5 to 10 drops. Peppermint oil can bring renewed vitality to exhausted feet.

Apply salt scrub to wet feet and gently massage all parts of your feet, paying particular attention to your heels. Rinse off the salt and pat dry. Moisturize.

It was a pocket full of posies for Tracy Reese today at her Spring runway show. Forming a juxtaposition between romance and sport, Reese created a colorful collection filled with pretty botanical prints and colors. Anorak jackets tempered feminine floral sequin tees and sweet bathing suit rompers, while peacock blue high-waist leather shorts added a modern edge to buttercup floral blouses. For dresses, Reese showed a range of styles from ruched body-con one-shoulder dresses to pretty, picnic-ready posy print dresses in a flowy flattering fit. Fluid palazzo pants and jumpsuits, lace inset maxi skirts, and our favorite, sheer striped linen dresses and skirts, further the languid, effortless tone. Ashley Greene Goes Short For Lunch Following an Apparent Flirt-Fest With Gerard Butler

Ashley Greene looked ready for Summer yesterday in a pair of super-short denim cutoffs and fringed sandals as she stopped at Panera Bread in LA. The actress dressed down for the casual outing after getting glam late last week to help honor Katie Holmes at a dinner held by Women in Film, Vanity Fair, and Max Mara. It was one of several high-profile events Ashley has attended this month, having also made an appearance at the CFDA Awards and the Chrysalis Butterfly Ball with Jennifer Garner and Olivia Wilde. Ashley has been keeping up her fitness with frequent workouts when not on the red carpet, and is also apparently enjoying the single life too. She was reportedly seen flirting with Gerard Butler at a post-CFDA party in the Big Apple, where they got cozy over drinks and spent a couple of hours together. Ashley's been briefly linked to several new guys since her split with Joe Jonas, but her career's keeping her busy too. She has three already-completed films slated to hit theaters this year, including LOL, Butter, and last but not least, Breaking Dawn.
