Kristen Stewart Rocks Short Shorts to Party With Robert Pattinson

Kristen Stewart slipped out of her Reem Acra gown and into a Dolce & Gabbana t-shirt and sexy black shorts for Robert Pattinson's Cosmopolis Cannes Film Festival afterparty. Earlier in the evening, Rob hit the red carpet solo at the film's formal premiere, while Kristen stuck close to his best friend, and her On the Road costar, Tom Sturridge. The trip to France came right in the middle of Kristen's international Snow White and the Huntsman press tour. The film opens in theaters June 1, and Kristen's headed back to the states next week for a few more promotional stops. As for Rob, he's in the running for two of the hottest roles in Hollywood. New reports say Rob's considering the part of Finnick Odair in Catching Fire, the follow-up to The Hunger Games, and he's among the sexy guys competing to play Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey.

Cannes Minireview: The Sapphires

The Sapphires has turned out to be one of the sleeper hits to emerge from Cannes, thanks to The Weinstein Company, which has already acquired rights to the film. I caught a screening of the funny film from Down Under during the festival, so read on to find out what I thought.

Who's behind it? Director Wayne Blair was behind the lens of the picture, which is based on a play by Tony Briggs. Briggs's mother and her family actually inspired the story. Chris O'Dowd of Bridesmaids fame is the leading man. The movie's four leading ladies all have varying degrees of fame in Australia: Jessica Mauboy is a musical star after a turn on Australian Idol, and Deborah Mailman was the first Aboriginal actress to win the country's prestigious Australian Film Institute award for best actress. Relative newcomers Miranda Tapsell and Shari Sebbens round out the cast.
What's it about? It's a story about a group of Aboriginal women who overcome significant obstacles in Australia to pursue their dreams of singing in 1968. When the ladies run into Dave (O'Dowd) at a local singing contest, he agrees to be their manager and help them get a gig touring Vietnam to entertain US troops. There are subplots about racism and Australia's "lost generation" (until the 1970s, the government stole light-skinned Aboriginal children to be raised by whites elsewhere). Mainly, though, there is a lot of singing, dancing, and '60s-era costumes.

Gwen Stefani Hits the Beach With Her Rossdale and No Doubt Boys

Gwen Stefani went to the beach in Marina del Rey yesterday with her sons and No Doubt bandmates. The group got together for a seaside bash, and Gwen even arrived with presents in hand. Gwen wore heels to escort kids Zuma Rossdale and Kingston Rossdale to a party, where they let loose swimming, running, and playing on a jungle gym. Zuma and Kingston weren't the only kids there - Gwen's No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal brought his young daughter, Coco, too! Gwen and her band are gearing up for the September release of their new album. The first single, however, will be out in July.

Gwen and her husband Gavin Rossdale have both thrown themselves back into music, with him touring the world for the last few months with Bush. The next six weeks will see him do shows closer to home around North America. He broke from concerts to celebrate London's Chelsea Football Club's Saturday win in the European Champions soccer league. He tweeted, "fantastic win for Chelsea - For London - for England. The gods were on their side!"

Gwen Stefani Lays Low With Zuma While X Factor Rumors Build

Gwen Stefani kicked off the month of May on a breakfast date with her youngest son, Zuma Rossdale. The pair grabbed an early morning bite then headed home together. Gwen's been hanging in LA with the boys while Gavin Rossdale continues touring the States with his band Bush. Gavin arrived in Atlanta yesterday and is scheduled to perform there tonight before moving on to Florida this weekend.

Gwen's also been focusing on music and spending late nights in the studio with her other guys, No Doubt. They're putting the finishing touches on their upcoming album and Gwen recently laid down the lyrics for a new track, "Psycho." Her talents have landed her among the other A-listers in the running to join the X Factor. In addition to Britney Spears, new reports suggest Simon Cowell wants Gwen to join X Factor. No word, though, on if she's considering his offer.

Gwen Stefani Has a Bright Weekend With Zuma and Kingston

Gwen Stefani paired her maroon Doc Martens with a bright yellow blazer from Zara yesterday to run around town with her sons Kingston Rossdale and Zuma Rossdale. The trio went to a friend's birthday party bearing gifts, with Kingston emerging afterward decorated with face paint. The family also fit a stop by an ice skating center into their itinerary. It was a fun weekend at home in LA for Gwen and her kids. Her husband, Gavin Rossdale, wasn't able to attend since he's still touring with Bush. Gavin was on stage in Montreal Saturday and Toronto last night. The coming days bring them back to the US. Gavin and his bandmates are set to perform tomorrow in Philadelphia, then Wednesday in Pittsburgh.

Competing in a race is already a challenge in itself; add to that a bit of travel, and you've got a new set of factors to consider. To find out how to achieve race-day success when traveling across the country - or world - we went straight to the expert, Thom Gilligan, founder of Marathon Tours, a specialized travel agency for runners that provides travel packages to destination marathons. Here are Thom's tips to ensure traveling won't prevent you from having a successful race day, whether you're doing a 10K or a marathon.

Pack race-day gear in your carry-on: Airlines lose luggage - it just happens. "Take precaution by packing all race gear in your carry-on," Thom says. The last thing you need is to be without your running shoes or outfit on the day of the race. Sure, you can buy new gear, but as any expert will tell you, running in new sneakers or clothing on the day of a race is bad all around. You don't want unexpected factors like chafing, pulling, or rubbing to prevent you from having a good day or causing bad form.
Arrive before the day of the race: Jet leg and tight muscles from a cramped airline seat are not a good look when it comes to race day. To feel alert on the day of the race, try to get there as far in advance as possible. Thom says the rule of thumb is to "arrive one day earlier for every hour you may be gaining or losing." But even he knows how impractical this sounds. Ideally give yourself two to three days to acclimate to your new surroundings, he says. The most important thing, Thom says, is adapting your sleep patterns to the current time zone. Fight urges to nap during the day or stay up late at night. Instead, go to sleep at the general bedtime hour of wherever you might be; this will help reset your circadian rhythm to the local sleep-wake cycle. Here are more tips on preventing jet lag.

Gwyneth Paltrow paired a floral top with a tiny pair of white shorts yesterday while out running errands in LA. Gwyneth's ombré-dyed hair was up in a ponytail. She's been on the West Coast for the past week, and last Friday, joined friends like Gwen Stefani and Reese Witherspoon at an event celebrating Paul McCartney's new music video. Gwyneth was also seen lunching with friends on Tuesday at the Montage Hotel. Gwyneth's skipped out on doing press for The Avengers so far. In a recent interview, the blockbuster's director Joss Whedon explained why Gwyneth's Pepper Potts has a role in the picture - and it has a lot to do with Iron Man himself, Robert Downey, Jr. Joss explained, "Pepper, this was really Robert’s thing. He pushed hard . . . He really thought Gwyneth would bring something great to the table, and we all thought so as well, but he was the one who convinced her to come and do it."

Earlier this month, Gwyneth and her family marked a big milestone. Her youngest, Moses Martin, turned 6 on April 8. Moses's dad Chris Martin may have had to send birthday wishes from afar, though. Chris's band Coldplay is in the midst of a Canadian tour and performed in Edmonton on Tuesday night. Tomorrow, Coldplay takes the stage in Vancouver.

Race-Day Tips From 2012 Boston Marathon Winner Sharon Cherop

This year's Boston Marathon was brutal. The unusually hot weather caused dehydration, heat exhaustion, and in some cases, heat stroke for some of the 2,000 runners. Amid those grueling temps, Kenya's Sharon Cherop emerged as the women's elite champion, who during a press conference shared what led to her victory on such a challenging day. While almost all of us will never finish a marathon with a time like Sharon's 2:31:50, we can benefit from her race-day tips.

Know the Course

Don't let race day be the first time you see the marathon course. When asked what led to her finish-line success, Sharon said knowing the course made all the difference. This was her second time running Boston, so she knew key places where she could afford to slow down or needed to speed up, and there were no surprises waiting for her around any corner, which allowed her to make that dash around the corner at the 600-meter mark before the finish. The specifics of the course also played out in her training. "Last year I realized there's more downhill than uphill. This time I was training more in downhill." Before heading to your destination, research the course online and make note of any elevation changes, winding paths, or road obstacles. Check forums to see what advice other runners offer about their own experiences there. Once you reach your destination, rent a car or sign up for a marathon tour to see the course up front. Driving the length of those 26.2 miles will provide you with a comfortable edge of knowing what to expect on race day.
