Cameron, Jennifer, and Brooklyn Talk Babies and More With Redbook

Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez share the cover of June's Redbook. The girls posed alongside their What to Expect When You're Expecting leading ladies Brooklyn Decker, Elizabeth Banks, and Anna Kendrick. The parenthood themes of the movie were addressed in the accompanying interview, with J Lo sharing about her experiences after welcoming twins Max and Emme. Brooklyn spoke about her high hopes for husband Andy Roddick as a dad and Cameron touched on how she changed her life plans to accommodate her acting success. Cameron on expectations: "I thought I was going to be married and have two children by the time I was 21. I think I felt I had to model my life after my mother's. But then my career was starting to take off and there were still so many things I wanted to do. So that dream for me was shattered early on. After that I never put another time line on anything in my life."
Jennifer on the surprises of motherhood: "I remember after the babies were born, about seven to 10 days in, I was like, 'What is going on with me?' I felt sad and depressed and thought the babies didn't love me. I actually remember picking up the book [What to Expect When You're Expecting] to try to see what was happening to me, and it said how you have this huge hormonal drop about seven to 10 days after you give birth. It's called the 'baby blues.' But I just thought they didn't like me!"
Brooklyn on expectations for fatherhood: "I would hope I'm in a position where I have a guy who is going to be helping me all the way through - even when I'm moody and craving ice cream at 12 a.m. It didn't take me long to know that Andy was the guy I was going to marry, and [what kind of dad he'd be] absolutely went through my mind when making that decision."

Jillian Michaels in Redbook: Being an Overweight Teen Was "Pure Hell"

With the success of The Biggest Loser and her new show - Losing It With Jillian - Jillian Michaels is turning into a household name. But as she shares in the latest issue of Redbook, life wasn't always so sweet. As a teen, Jillian weighed in at 175 pounds and struggled with problems at home. It wasn't until she left home at 17 that her path to a healthy and successful life began. Check out the highlights here:

On finding inspiration to get healthy: “You have to establish the why: 'Why do you want to change your life? What’s inspiring and motivating you? A long life? To wear your skinny jeans to your 10-year high school reunion?' That why is gonna carry you through.”
On her weight struggles as a teen:  "Oh, my God, it was pure hell. I spent all of eighth grade in my classroom because God forbid I ever left. I was terrorized."

On how she became fit: "My parents got divorced when I was 12. They were married for 18 years. They were kind of midlife-crisis-ing, and I was sort of the afterthought. I became pretty angry - no one wanted to deal with me - so when I was 17, my mom was like, 'You're not living here.' But I learned a lot being on my own . . . [During that time] karate saved my life. It all stopped the day I broke two boards with a kick."
On how the families react to her show:  "I think they presume it's a fitness show. And the next thing you know, I'm in your marriage, I'm going to school with your kids. I'm, like, in the middle of everything . . . I'm lying with one eye open in the middle of the night, waiting for the mom to come in and put a knife through my heart. It's brutal. It is brutal."

Are Fathers Who Focus on Family Over Career More Attractive?

Who doesn't love Chris O'Donnell? The happily married actor and down-to-earth father of five talked about his work and family in the June issue of Redbook, which hits stands on May 25. At the height of his career, Chris turned down the lead role in Men in Black to focus on family. He said:

I knew when I got into this business I couldn't have it both ways: I could live the playboy lifestyle, which is not a bad thing to do, or have a traditional family life, which is how I grew up. And that was more important to me.

Speak Up: Photoshopped Faith Hill

There has been a lot of talk over Faith Hill's appearance on the cover of Redbook recently due to some serious photoshop work that was done to her picture.

I never really understood it all until I stumbled onto Jezebel.com and saw the before and after pictures (above).

To me, it is upsetting that a beautiful woman like Faith Hill is not portrayed accurately. The woman in the first picture is gorgeous and real, the woman in the second picture is flawless and unreal. Women are led to believe such false images of what it means to be a sexy woman due to the very unnatural portrayals we see in the media everyday. What do you think about all this? Are photoshopped images of women something we should just deal with or is it something you would like to see come to an end? Speak up and share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Redbook Retouches Faith Hill. What Do You Think?

How many times have you heard that models and celebrities really aren't as perfect as they look on the covers of magazines? It's a message that's been drilled into my head over and over, and yet I still look at magazines and wonder how on earth anyone looks that flawless. Even with excellent makeup and flattering lighting, most photos are retouched in Photoshop to create an unattainable level of perfection.

Hearing that is one thing, but seeing it is another. Jezebel offered $10,000 to anyone who would come forward with a cover photo before it had been retouched. And finally, someone has. The July cover of Redbook features Faith Hill. She looks very pretty and fresh, right? She did before being Photoshopped, too, yet she's been heavily retouched. To see the "before" picture,

So, here's Faith Hill, before Photoshop.

Honestly? I thought she looked pretty good before the retouching. She looks healthy, happy, and is showing a few smile lines, too. I understand why magazines might want to even out her skin tone and balance the cover, but this retouching is pretty heavy (the designer even added an arm, eliminated the bend of her elbow, and made her back thinner).

I want to know what you think about retouching. Does it bother you, or do you not mind? Do you think magazines do too much of it? (And how long do you think it will be before the identity of Jezebel's anonymous photo-supplier is found out?!) Source

'Til Death Do Us Part? Why Couples Renew Their Vows

Does "'til death do us part" have an expiration date? The whole lifetime commitment concept suggests that wedding vows don't need renewing; after all, a marriage certificate isn't like a library book. But if you're using celebrities as a barometer, you'd think everyone was doing it these days.

Heidi Klum and Seal will hold their annual wedding vow renewal this weekend, while Tori Spelling and and Dean McDermott plan to renew theirs on Saturday. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon refreshed their marriage last weekend with a glitzy ceremony. Not surprisingly, the real housewives are also jumping on the trend: The Real Housewives of NYC's Ramona Singer is doing it, as did the OC's Vicki.

So do real housewives and husbands do this, and why? For a look at the trend,

In an interview with Redbook, Heidi Klum explains that the tradition is a way for the couple to express their love: "It's so special to us, something we love and something our children have gotten accustomed to. It's like, 'Hey, Mom and Dad love each other and they get married every year!'" Cute, I must admit, but her husband Seal confirms what I suspect is another reason for vow renewal: "it's a great party."

Annual vow renewals seem rare in the noncelebrity world, but there are rules about how often you can do it. The Knot suggests renewing your vows on major anniversaries or right after your wedding if you've eloped, but says couples shouldn't renew too soon or too often.

Other couples might renew their vows if they got married in a civil ceremony and want a religious commitment, or if they couldn't afford a wedding before and want to celebrate with friends and family. One reason not to renew your vows, according to About.com: because you miss wedding planning and want an excuse to have a party.

The Knot also suggests getting dressed up in your original wedding dress - hey, who says you'll never wear it again? But I Do Take Two warns that it's tacky to register for gifts. So what do you think of the concept of renewing your wedding vows: tacky or tasteful?
