Speak Up: Photoshopped Faith Hill

There has been a lot of talk over Faith Hill's appearance on the cover of Redbook recently due to some serious photoshop work that was done to her picture.

I never really understood it all until I stumbled onto Jezebel.com and saw the before and after pictures (above).

To me, it is upsetting that a beautiful woman like Faith Hill is not portrayed accurately. The woman in the first picture is gorgeous and real, the woman in the second picture is flawless and unreal. Women are led to believe such false images of what it means to be a sexy woman due to the very unnatural portrayals we see in the media everyday. What do you think about all this? Are photoshopped images of women something we should just deal with or is it something you would like to see come to an end? Speak up and share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Reality Check: Cindy Crawford Admits "I Have Cellulite"

Who would have guessed that Cindy Crawford is 43? She still looks amazing to me, and it's nice to hear that even though she was a supermodel, she's still human like the rest of us. In Redbook's September issue Cindy shares,

I have cellulite. I admit it. But sometimes I just say, 'Screw it, I am going to wear a bikini. I think I look good for my age. I am not 25; I am 43. That feels like a big pressure, especially when the National Enquirer is dying to get a picture. I am so aware that I don't want to change the way I live because of that kind of attention. So you say, 'Screw it. I am wearing a bikini, and I am not putting on a cover-up.' You just brace yourself for a bad picture.

Many women like Cindy are blessed with cellulite, but so what? I love that it doesn't get in the way of her being proud to show off her body, and do the things that she enjoys.
The Shape of Faith Hill's 41-Year-Old Bikini Body

The beautiful country star, Faith Hill, has a gorgeous voice. Who knew she has a gorgeous and strong bod, too. At age 41, she'll be on the cover of Shape magazine's December issue (on sale Nov. 10) showing off her amazing figure, and she has her daily exercise routine to thank.

In her 20s and 30s, Faith went through different phases with exercise. She'd work out right before a video shoot or tour, but didn't do much afterward. Then once she had three children and turned 40, she knew it was time for a lifestyle change. She had knee surgery last January, so she couldn't exercise for six months. So in July, she and husband, Tim McGraw began a daily routine. They did four miles on the elliptical, light weight lifting, crunches, and push-ups. Faith said, "I found I slept better, had more energy and was stronger."

To find out her extra secret weapon, just read more.

Faith also added Pilates classes three times a week to help her tone up and increase flexibility. Faith told Shape, "I could bend in ways I haven't been able to since I was a teenager. My husband loves it!"

This Nashville-based star said, "It was so hard, but ultimately so worth it. My core is much stronger, and my arms are more toned. In fact, wearing a bikini on a magazine cover is my 41st birthday present to myself." What an amazing gift. Nothing's better than taking care of yourself, being healthy, and feeling confident about your body. I just hope Faith's picture wasn't Photoshopped like her photo on the July 2007 cover of Redbook was.

Five Lies Women Tell Their Doctors

According to Redbook magazine, women are not exactly being truthful to their doctors. Whether it's because they're embarrassed, don't want to get lectured, or don't want to be judged, women are bending the truth a bit in the exam room. Female patients may also fear that revealing certain details of their lives will make them seem like "bad patients" and that their doctor won't give them the best care. Women tend to be people pleasers. It's not that they want to be deceptive, but want to make their doctors happy. However, it may be at the expense of their own health. Here are the top five lies women tell the person in the white coat:

"I'm not a big drinker."It's important to be truthful since a high consumption of alcohol is linked to breast cancer. Also, when your doctor prescribes medications, drinking too much alcohol can cause complications or risky side effects.

"I don't smoke." We all know we shouldn't smoke, so we don't need our doctors telling us not to, right? Or we think, "I only smoke when I drink, so it's not a big deal." Well it doesn't matter what you tell your doctor because as soon as she examines you, she'll know you smoke since nicotine stains the inside of your nose. Smoking causes premature wrinkling, lung cancer, and it also raises your risk for stroke when using the pill, so women need to be truthful with their doctor about this one.

To see the last three lies read more.

"I'm monogamous." It's understandable that you don't want to admit you sleep with multiple partners for fear that it may make you seem irresponsible or promiscuous. The problem is, it can put you at risk for contracting an sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as HPV, which can cause cervical cancer, or chlamydia, which can make you infertile. Your risk increases especially if you have unprotected sex. Doctors may be too embarrassed to bring this up, so it may be up to you to admit that you're not monogamous, so you can get tested for STIs.

"Of course, I floss." I know flossing is boring and tedious, but it's so important to floss regularly, and not just when you get a popcorn kernel stuck in your teeth. Studies show that those who don't floss regularly are at risk for gum disease, which puts you at risk for heart disease and pancreatic cancer. So start flossing as often as you brush and next time you go to the dentist, you won't have to lie.

"I'm taking my medicine exactly as you prescribed." Many women don't take prescriptions as directed because they think they know better, or they skip doses or stop taking meds because they don't like the side effects. Also, if they don't do exactly as their doctor prescribes and they aren't feeling better, they don't want to admit that it could be their fault. The best thing is to openly communicate with your doctor about your drugs. Ask questions and find out if taking your prescriptions in a different way is beneficial, or see if there are alternatives that have fewer side effects.

Fit's Tip: Your doctor is the one person you need to always be honest with. She's only looking out for your best interest, and you want her to know all the details so she can offer you the best care. Doctors are required by law to keep all information confidential, so you should feel safe telling them anything.

More Photoshop Issues: Wendy's Menu?

Photoshop gets a lot of people into trouble these days. Typically we see images being photoshopped in magazines like the Faith Hill cover of Redbook, however this is a photoshop problem of something different: A Wendy's menu.

The battle goes on whether New York City can force certain restaurants to post calorie content on their menu boards. In the midst of it all, it is being reported that the Center for Science in the Public Interest created a fake Wendy’s menu (above, click image to zoom) and sent it to the court to display that it is actually possible to include the caloric information without totally confusing the customer, which was Wendy's reasoning for not displaying the calorie info in the first place.

Personally, I think Wendy's has been being sneaky about the whole thing since the beginning. To Wendy's I say: Thanks for thinking we, the consumer, are so utterly clueless that we won't be able to decipher such a complicated menu that has prices and calories, but let me be the judge of what I can and can't handle. When people start asking if the regular burger is 280 dollars or calories, then you may have a valid case argument.

What do you guys think - Was the CSPI playing dirty or proving a good point? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
