Gear Review: Cell Voltra Running Shoe by Puma

I just took Puma's new running shoe, the Cell Voltra ($100), out for a test run.

The first thing I noticed was that the shoe is incredibly light. Being the curious sort, I put it on my digital kitchen scale to weight it. One shoe clocks in at 10.75 ounces - an ounce lighter than my Under Armour running sneaks.

The Cell Voltras capitalize on Puma's 10CELL technology used for building soles. Essentially, it's a layer system designed to create cushion and shock absorption as well as rebound. To see what I thought of these sneakers, just read more.

When I wore these shoes for strength-training workouts, to break them in a bit before wearing them on a run, I liked them. The front of the shoe felt thin, so I could really get a sense of the floor. The heel is nice and stiff, which seemed to provide support. But when I wore them running, I didn't feel like there was enough cushion on the ball of my feet since I strike mostly toward the front of my mid-foot. I felt like I was practically running barefoot. The insole was rather thin too, so my feet felt vulnerable. I think if you're a heel striker, this shoe might work for you, since the heel is stiff. I will definitely use this shoe for strength training and plyometrics, but not for running. Style-wise, I like how the shoe upper looks like a classic Puma - simple, with a flash of silver.

Gear Review: Puma TP Tights

I'm always on the lookout for breathable running pants, and Puma's TP 3/4-length tights ($45) are a valuable addition to my collection. They're so light that the pants feel like a second skin, and so effective at keeping me dry that I've worn them during a sweaty elliptical workout, an outside run, and a spin class (when my bike shorts were still in the dirty clothes pile) - just in the last couple weeks.

Besides being extremely breathable, I love the inner drawstring that allows you to adjust the tightness around your waist, instead of an elastic waistband that can dig into your skin. The pants are fitted to right below the knee and the overall fit is surprisingly flattering. If you want to take your pants on a run, there's a key pocket on the back (below the waistband) and cool reflective design at the back of each knee - it's effective for a nighttime run, but the interesting design makes them unassuming reflectors and wearable for any workout.

I was pleased when my pants came out of the wash undamaged; just be sure to hang them dry to maintain the quality. If you're on the hunt for something to keep you dry during your sweaty workouts, I recommend investing in these tights. My tip: The pants definitely run big, so order one size down to ensure your tights aren't baggy.

I love when celebrities get on board to help design athletic gear because it can help send a good message for people to get off their butts and move a little. Luke Wilson, who we've seen jogging and playing golf, has joined the likes of Scarlett Johansson by creating his own athletic clothing line with Puma and pro golfer Johan Edfors.

The line includes highlights such as chrome details, higher-end Merino wool materials, and personal color combinations and selections. Wilson’s selections included darker blues and blacks for a more casual, laid-back approach, while Edfors selected brighter color palettes with vibrant green and pink, more typical to his personal style. I'm excited about the C-hopper shoe that can be worn on or off the course by just removing the spikes, because I can't tell you how many times I've had lunch with my shoeless husband at the clubhouse. Unfortunately the line doesn't come out until May, so we wait.

I have been in love with Christy Turlington and Puma's line Nuala. It's just fabulous.

However recently I've discovered the footwear side of the line and let me tell you, I want me some Nuala sandals. More specifically, I really want the sandals with embedded magnetic inserts. The reason this is so cool is because magnetic therapy is known for its holistic properties to revitalize and aid circulation. Very cool, right? Get Your Butt in Gear: Puma's Golf Line

Are you a golfer? If you are then you know that women's golf clothes are not always the most attractive gear you can find. With clothes that look like they are straight out of my grandmother's closet, I am always disappointed.

However I was super excited when I saw Puma's Golf line. Puma's style is typically sporty and fun, which is exactly the look I want when playing golf.

Anyone who golfs knows that short sleeves are a mistake, unless you want a hot farmer's tan. Tank tops are the way to go but try and lean on the conservative side. Which Brand Of Sneakers Do You Prefer?

Some women are pretty particular about the brand of sneaker they wear. Whether you choose because of the style, fit, comfort, activity level, or price, nothing beats a great pairs of kicks.

So, what's your favorite brand? Do you love Brooks because they have sneakers with great arch support? Or maybe you have really narrow feet, so New Balance sneaks fit you snug as a bug.
