The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, has put together a list of the most active states, as well as the least active states in the nation. Each state is ranked based on the percentage of people in each state meeting physical activity recommendations.

On Friday I told you about the salmonella food-poisoning outbreak reported in nine states (New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Idaho, Illinois, and Indiana). Contaminated raw, uncooked tomatoes are thought to be the culprit, and unfortunately more cases of illness have cropped up in seven other states including California, Connecticut, Oregon, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. Investigators believe the tainted tomatoes are also to blame for the most recent recent illnesses.

March 8th is International Women's Day, in honor of that I thought it was an appropriate time to discuss ending violence against women. This unfortunate statistic: that around the world, at least 1 in every 3 women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime, illustrates that the fight needs to be fought.
The National Domestic Violence Hotline is helping fight the battle.
