Last Saturday night I found the words, "The Cosmo is so 2001," tumbling from my mouth. As soon as they escaped, I started to remember - and miss – my old friends: the classic, rosy hued cranberry juice Cosmo and her close cousin, the berry-colored pomegranate Cosmo. Monday morning, I was shocked to find a note from Angelica with a recipe for the pom Cosmo!

Could we be in the midst of a Cosmo renaissance? The pomegranate Cosmo is the perfect, festive, holiday-worthy cocktail. With its gorgeous color, and tart refreshing taste, it's a delicious aperitif or fun party drink. To join me in rekindling my love affair with Cosmos, get the recipe, just

Pomegranate Cosmopolitan
From The Lodge at Tiburon

1 cup Vodka
1/2 cup Cointreau liqueur or triple sec
3/4 cup POM pomegranate juice
1/2 cup fresh lime juice
Lime wedges, optional for garnish

Combine vodka, pom juice, Cointreau and lime juice in a container or pitcher.
In small batches, shake mixture with ice in a cocktail shaker, then strain into chilled cocktail glasses.
Garnish with lime twist, if desired.

Serves 8.

The Skinny On: Pomegranate

Pomegranates are making their way into everything. Pomegranate Martinis to Pomegranate infused Ahi-Tuna. Wondering why?

Well, pomegranate is so good for you and here's why. One pomegranate delivers 40% of an adult's daily vitamin C requirement and they are also very rich in antioxidants. Furthermore pomegranates have been shown to reduce systolic blood pressure and aid in the prevention of prostate cancer and osteoarthritis.

You can get pomegranate in many forms like juices, extracts, pills and more. I drink it in a juice form but there are two things to watch out for. First of all it is pretty expensive for a juice but you can shop around and get less expensive brands (even though POM is wonderful); You'll just want to try it before committing to a whole gallon. The other thing is that Pomegranate juice can be pretty potent (and sugary). To counteract this, I typically add 75% water to 25% juice.

Fit's Tip: Some pomegranate extracts are described as 'punicosides', which means "stuff from pomegranates", and it is just a new term invented by a clever marketing team that understands how popular pomegranate is. Instead, look for extracts with 'punicalagins', which are far more reputable antioxidants.

Unabashedly Over-the-Top Romantic Decadence From the New Shakespeare Film Anonymous

Opening Oct. 28, Anonymous posits the question, "Was Shakespeare a fraud?" The theory has been raised many times throughout literary history, and the upcoming drama directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Rhys Ifans and Vanessa Redgrave is only the latest.

While Anonymous may not answer any definitive questions about Shakespeare's identity, it does address the luxurious look of Queen Elizabeth's castle, seen in the photo below. "Joyous, upbeat, nostalgic" were the words Christopher Bailey used to describe his Spring collection for Burberry Prorsum, and that's exactly what it looked like as models strutted down the runway in an array of brightly colored trench coats, African-inspired printed sheath dresses, and, most notably, a cool array of parka jackets embellished with leather sleeves, whipstitch, and crochet detailing. Pretty pleated knee-length skirts and silk dresses injected a throwback touch while raffia pom hats, colorful woven wedges, and bold statement necklaces furthered Bailey's exotic theme. Over the weekend I celebrated my 30th birthday by hosting a get-together at our home with friends. The weather was warm so we took full advantage of outdoor entertaining. I incorporated flowers that my husband brought me into the centerpiece design. The vase is made from a recycled coffee can, covered in wrapping paper. Instead of stringing paper lanterns horizontally, I bunched them together with bright colored tissue paper poms to create a festive chandelier. More photos of this fête on my blog, Love & Lace.
