I am going to be honest here and confess that there comes a point in every run when I would just like to stop running altogether. Either my feet feel tired or my lungs don't feel like working that hard. I'm not alone in this, am I?

The concept of neutral spine sounds easy. You maintain the natural curves of your spine while doing an exercise – like an upper abdominal curl. Keeping neutral means the muscles in your back will be working along with your abs and when you get your abs and back to fire together you are working your core.

When I write that Hannah, my trainer at Equinox, is kicking my behind, I mean that she's really working my glutes. No joke. Here is a move she taught me recently; it's highly effective for toning the backside.

Hey Fit,
I've been having issues with my sciatic nerve lately, I was wondering if you could post some stretches and/or yoga poses that would help with sciatica? Thanks!

Countless crunches and multiple sets of Russian twists might tone your abs, but they're not so great for your back. Not only that, but they aren't functional movement, meaning the strength gained in these exercises won't really help you outside the gym. Repeatedly rounding the spine in a crunch or full sit-up sets the stage for a disk injury.

Lymph nodes function as part of the immune system to protect against and fight infection, inflammation, and cancers. Lymph nodes are small structures that filter the lymph fluid that consists of fluids, fats, proteins, and other substances within the body. If cancer exists in the prostate, the first means it has of spreading is through the pelvic lymph nodes.

The nerves that branch off the central nervous system (CNS) provide messages to the muscles and organs for normal function. When there is CNS damage, the function of these organs and tissues may be compromised. In multiple sclerosis, the demyelinization of nerve cells may lead to bowel incontinence, bladder problems and/or sexual dysfunction.

Working in a neutral spine is a core component of Pilates. That little pun is intended, too, for working in neutral ensures that your back and abs are both engaged, often turning simple ab exercises into core work. There is a side-lying neutral, too.
