I'm grateful that there are so many different ways you can exercise your body. We can run outside, use cardio machines, take dance classes, lift weights, learn Kung Fu, and use fitness DVDs. With all those options I was wondering, where do you usually exercise?

I know a lot of you run. I like to run outside and on a treadmill - different forms for different moods. Some runners have really strong opinions when it comes to where they run.

It is that time of year when folks move their workouts outside since the weather is so dang nice. If you have been running indoors on a treadmilll and are looking to move your runs outside there are a few things to take into consideration.
- The surface of the treadmill is more forgiving to your joints so suddenly shifting all your runs outside can be jarring to your ankles, knees and hips.

There's nothing fun about having asthma. Your chest gets tight, you can't catch a good breath, you have coughing attacks and you have to pump yourself silly with steroid inhalers and pills just so you can breathe.
But if you have asthma that's triggered by allergies, you may find that getting your heart rate up helps - all that huffing and puffing gets the mucus out of your lungs.

I spent three days deep in hockey country of the twin cities of Minnesota. In those three days I was inundated with hockey — starting with a late night viewing of the movie Miracle about the 1980 gold-winning Olympic team, followed by cheering for my nephew in a game of pee-wee hockey, and culminating in playing a game of hockey with kids ages 5 to 45. Yes, when you're skating outside on a rink made in the local park by flooding a baseball field, you become a kid again.

When learning new physical skills, you sometimes need to train outside the box. In my quest to learn proper swimming technique, Hannah, my swim coach at Equinox, has had me swim dog paddle, told me to imagine I am a chicken roasting on a spit, and most recently, told me to swim with my eyes closed.
Like a trust exercise used in theater classes but in the water, I closed my eyes and swam a few laps in an attempt to really "feel the water."

Sometimes, going for a run is just an excuse to listen to my favorite playlists on my iPod. The beat of the music keeps pushing me along and the lyrics entertain me. Other times, I like to run without music and listen to the birds chirping, my stride and my breath.

This week's Get Fit For 2010 challenge is all about inspiring you to move. Since the weather is too chilly for most people to enjoy a run outside, many of you are turning to the treadmill. To beat boredom and burn major calories, I developed four different treadmill workouts: Beginner, Intermediate Intervals, Running Hills, and Sprint Intervals.
