The Countess Shares Her Diet Dos and Don'ts

One Real Housewife of New York was noticeably absent from Bethenny Frankel's nuptials this weekend: Countess LuAnn de Lesseps. But if you've been following the show this season, her omission from the guest list is no real shocker. When we last saw the pair it was at New York Fashion Week, and Bethenny was yelling some pretty biting things at LuAnn: "I'm telling you to your face - I don't like you, I don't trust you, and I think you're a snake."

Though LuAnn may not have been at the celebration, we do have a glimpse into what kind of etiquette she may have followed at the reception. The Countess tells OK magazine:

"Never go to a party when you are hungry. You will have an easier time sticking to your diet if you have a light snack before you go out. Party food is supposed to be tempting and fun; you won’t make good food choices if you are starving."

I think her advice of having a light snack is a good one; I once went to a party famished and scarfed down way too many bacon-wrapped scallops as a result. LuAnn also says that your diet is nobody's business but your own:

"Remember that your diet is a private matter. Let your friends enjoy their food without critiquing their choices. If you eat the bread, skip the wine. If you drink the wine, skip the bread. It’s one or the other. I personally choose the wine."

When I am at a party, I give myself license to have the wine and the bread, because I don't like feeling deprived at a festive event. How about you - do you only give yourself one indulgence at a party?

Speak Up: Slender People Who Complain About Their Bodies

A good friend of mine is constantly saying that she needs to lose weight, although I think she looks great. She goes to the gym several times a week and it shows - she's toned and seems to be in the best shape of her life. Some of our friends get upset when she makes these kinds of comments. Since they've struggled with weight their entire lives, it bothers them when girls who are thinner than they are complain about their weight.

This week, actress Sienna Miller admitted in an interview that she's not into the gym and can't really stick to a diet. She also shared that she feels like she's getting "soft."

“I think I’ve reached an age now where it’s time for me to start working out a bit. I can’t get away with it any more. I used to be able to get away with it. I was quite firm and quite tiny and as I hit 25, things started to change. Now I’m noticing more changes. You know, a top and bare legs at the back is not a pretty sight! I’m lazy and if I wear clothes, it’s hidden well.”

I don't know about you, but when I saw those pictures of Sienna in a bikini earlier this week, I didn't see a girl who needed to hide her bare legs or who is out of shape - but I'm not terribly bothered that she said this, either. Everything is relative to our own experiences, and her comments don't reek of having poor self-esteem. I'm sure that the body that she has now doesn't feel the same to her as the one she had when she was 24.

Meet Jamie Lynn's Baby Maddie Aldridge!

Here's the new Spears girl! As part of their ongoing deal, OK! Magazine has the first photos of Jamie Lynn and her baby daughter, Maddie Briann Aldridge. While it's still pretty surreal to see, Maddie is teeny tiny and so cute, and JL looks happy and serene holding her newborn. Here are some highlights from the interview:

On Maddie: "She is very good. She'll feed every two or three hours. When she wakes up in the middle of the night, I'll feed her and she goes right back to sleep. There's no screaming and crying."
On her new life: "We get up in the morning, and she gets her little bath. Then I get my bath. We have a routine, and I love routines. I've worked one out with her, and we're happy going about our little life."
On Casey: "Once I got in there, my doctor was just so calm and so good it was not bad at all. I was just talking to Casey. And you know what's so weird? I was asking him if he was okay. He was like, 'Yeah.' We were both so excited."
On Maddie's birth: "They'd told me it would be an eight- to 12-hour labor, and I was ready to have the baby in three to four hours. I had a perfect pregnancy and a perfect delivery. I was very blessed."

Britney and Jamie Lynn's Wonderful Sisterly Reunion

Britney made a special trip back home to Kentwood for Jamie Lynn's baby shower last weekend, and OK! Magazine scored the exclusive photos of the Spears women back together again. It's refreshing to see the ladies taking the standard group party photos, and Jamie Lynn's sash just makes the family seem even more down to earth. Inside the issue, JL opens up about the weekend and how great it was to spend some time with her big sister again. Here are highlights:

On having her sister home for the weekend: "It was wonderful to be able to spend time with her and just be girls again. We painted our nails and did stupid stuff. To be able to be in the privacy of our own home and just be sisters again was wonderful."
On Britney's parenting advice: "She told me, 'There are going to be some long nights, but it is completely worth it.'"
On Britney returning to Louisiana for the birth: "Nothing is set in stone, but that would be wonderful. I'd love to have her here for that, but you can't plan that far ahead."

Britney has plenty of her own issues to deal with right now, but being a caring big sister to Jamie Lynn is still a priority. Now that Brit's been making some progress with her custody battle - and even spending Mother's day with her boys - hopefully it won't be long before the whole family is reunited again with three little ones to chase after.

Jamie Lynn's $1 Million Paycheck and Dad's Pissed

According to TMZ, Jamie Lynn Spears is getting paid $1 million for her deal with OK! Magazine . . . but there's a catch. She's not going to see the money until after the baby is born and she grants them the exclusive first photoshoot. While the whole thing is pretty gross, that paycheck is nothing compared to what her big sister could fetch, and that's apparently because 16-year-old Jamie Lynn isn't a big enough star. Plus, the deal was brokered by Lynne Spears, who kept in touch with the magazine after calling to thank them for how they handled Britney's photoshoot breakdown over the summer. Ugh, all of it is so dirty. Oh, and TMZ also says the baby is due sooner than we think.

While Lynne is obviously more than an accomplice in all this, papa Jamie Spears is reportedly "devastated" and "furious" about both the news and the fact that his family sold the story. As for Jamie Lynn herself, I can only imagine how overwhelming and scary this all is right now.

We read some of her interview already, and here is a little more from Jamie Lynn. She says she's "looking forward to being the best mom I can be...I’m the one who has to live with it for the rest of my life...I put myself in this position, an adult position, so I have to act like an adult and take responsibility for what I did." There's so much of this whole situation that is just so so sad.

Get the Bod: Denise Richards

Denise Richards has had two kids and several public break-ups yet she seems to still manage to stay healthy.

OK Magazine sat down with Denise and got the scoop on what she's does to keep fit and healthy through it all:

OK: What's the best part about exercising?
DR: I feel healthy and strong, and I love how I feel mentally and physically. This is the first season in a long time that I have felt comfortable on the beach without a sarong covering my bottom.

OK: Do you find stress causes your weight to fluctuate?
DR: Stress definitely affects my weight. I am thinner when I'm stressed or have a lot going on.

OK: With such a busy schedule, is it difficult to find the time to exercise?
DR: No, because it is part of my lifestyle. I don't work out only when I'm preparing for a project or shoot or bikini season. Exercising is part of my routine. I try to do it five days a week for an hour. That's an hour of time to myself, unless the girls come in, but that's okay too. That's the luxury of working out at home.

There's more on working out with two young daughters as well what she wants to instill in them about body image, so

OK: Is it hard to get motivated with two daughters?
DR: No, my girls motivate me to exercise and eat right! I am a single mom, so I am outnumbered! I need my energy to keep up with them.

OK: How did you lose weight after having your daughters?
DR: I am naturally thin, and I feel that I am at a good weight for my body. I work out to be lean and have some definition. Of course my body went through many changes having two babies back to back. For me, losing the weight wasn't that difficult; I was lucky. And no, I didn't work out five hours a day, I had to wait six weeks to do anything after each baby because I had a C-section with each birth. I took it very slow getting back into my routine.

OK: What will you hope to instill in your daughters about body image?
DR: I will try to teach my daughters to love their body. Sami was looking at Lola and said, "Wow, look at Lola's big belly," and I told Sami that Lola has a beautiful belly. Now, Sami tells her sister her belly is beautiful.

OK: Who do you think has the best body in Hollywood?
DR: Demi Moore still has the best body in Hollywood!

OK: What are your favorite food splurges?
DR: Chips and guacamole. And ice cream!

Breakups can do horrible and wonderful things to a woman's body. Jessica is no exception and with her new man John Mayer in tow, she is apparently committed to getting healthy post Lachey.

iFitandHealthy is reporting the latest on Jessica Simpson's new diet and workout plan:

Jessica's Diet -

Mashed bananas with peanut butter: “It doesn’t look pretty, but it’s a healthy protein snack,” says Jess. Salsa and low-fat chips are also a good snack idea.
Eat small meals packed with veggies every three to four hours.
Drink lots of water.
Eat lots of fruit - watermelon is one of Jess’ faves.
If she’s ever in a pinch, Jess will go on a three-day juice fast.

A Typical Day of Meals for Jessica -

Breakfast: Egg whites with whole-wheat toast or a Zone-Perfect Bar.
Lunch: Salad with grilled chicken or fish, and crackers.
Dinner: Grilled salmon with vegetables.
Snack: A Zone Perfect Bar if she hasn’t had one for breakfast, or a grapefruit with sugar substitute Splenda.

Jessica's Workout Plan (sort of) -

Three days a week of cardio and circuit training.
”I work with small weights – 5 to 10 pounds – but only to get toned,” says Jessica. “I don’t want to be beefy, I want to look feminine.”
Lots of lunges and squats to target the rear end.
”I do a lot of Pilates and stretching,” she says.
“I love my body, but I’m modest – believe it or not,” says Simpson.

Bar Refaeli Celebrates Her Hotness With Maxim

Bar Refaeli hit the red carpet at Maxim's Hot 100 List party in NYC last night. She earned the top spot on the magazine's annual list and joins past winners Katy Perry, Eva Longoria, and Jessica Simpson. Though Bar's known for her bikini body, she opted for a sexy black L'Agence jumpsuit and a Christian Louboutin clutch for last night's soiree. Bar partied alongside Olympic athlete Shaun White, though when it comes to guys, apparently the supermodel has a tough time finding dates. Bar told Conan O'Brien about her personal woes, saying, "No one hits on me . . . no one flirts with me; it's very sad actually." Charlize Theron got glamorous for the cover of InStyle's June issue, which hits newsstands this Friday. She's currently in the middle of a whirlwind press tour for Snow White and the Huntsman and hit the red carpet for the film's London premiere yesterday. Charlize told us she's excited to share the movie with fans though in the magazine she touched more on her personal life including dating and her newly adopted son Jackson. Here's more from Charlize Theron in InStyle:

On getting older: "I see my face and my body changing, and they’re all changes I’m OK with. Part of me understands I may not be in front of the camera forever, and maybe not just because of age, but because of me. I wouldn’t have started my own production company if I didn’t feel that way."
On adopting son Jackson: "Motherhood was something I always knew I wanted to experience. What a great opportunity for someone like me who wants to have a family. I can only hope to be 10 percent of the mom mine was to me. She encouraged me to be confident and enjoy life. That’s what I want for my son. So far I’m not surprised by anything about being a mom. It’s all pretty great-but that’s what I expected."
On dating: "I’m always open to a relationship, but I’m not putting those feelers out there now. I’m not unhappy with it, but I’m not like, 'Oh, this is so much better than when I was in a relationship.' I am a relationship girl. That’s kind of just how I’m made."

The Time Cover Mom Speaks Out: Does Hearing Her Side Change Your Opinion?

This morning, Time magazine's cover mom went on the Today show to share her views on attachment parenting and explain the story behind the cover photo. She was joined by her 3-year-old son, Aram, Dr. Sears, and Time's science editor, Jeffrey Kluger.

"I understand some of the breastfeeding advocates are upset about this," 26-year-old Jamie Grumet said. "[The cover image] doesn't show the nurturing side to attachment parenting . . . I understand what they're saying, but I do understand why Time chose this picture. It's created a real media craze to get the dialogue going."

"You need to do what's best for your baby and for your own family," Grumet continued. "You can take some of Dr. Sears's attachment parenting philosophies and maybe not others, and that's OK; you're not a bad parent. Your child will still be OK."
