Nov 2 2009 - 10:30am Take a peek into my kitchen cabinet for a healthy eating tip. If you can't tell from the picture those are jars with chalkboard labels. I've been using them for almost a year now and for two good reasons: health and money.

This is such a good idea! Even if it's just to list the food and the serving size! It also helps keep things fresher for longer! I might have to add more of these containters to my wedding registry! We put a "cereal dispenser" on there for my fiance, who has a bowl every morning, this would even be a great idea for that - to allow him to keep his cereal consumption monitored!
Fit, do you know if you can use the chalboard paint on plastic containers, or if you have to paint on glass?
With nuts that I plan to eat on a regualr basis, I also will get the plastic bags with the "write on area" and write a serving size and no. of calories on them. I have a bag that says Pistachio's 37 - 150 cal.
Thanks for the super idea!
1Its a great idea but you don't have to buy special chalkboard glass containers. I reused old instant coffee jars, jam jars, peanut butter jars etc. and write on them with permanent marker. As long as its glass the permanent marker comes off easily with nail polish remover.
2I love this idea! It looks neat and it's informative. I think it would even help me to think of things to grab when I am in a hurry.
3Neat idea, and cute to boot!
4There are also adhesive chalkboards that you could use. I have chalkboard stickers on my fridge for the shopping list, etc.
5Those are so cute! I use labels on my containers, but I like the idea of something that's eraseable.
6Hello there, Happy Halowen!!!
7Clever!
8Good afternoon, Happy late Halloween(:
