Part Two: 8 Secrets of the Naturally Thin

We all want to know what those naturally thin people are doing to stay so um, naturally thin. Prevention has discovered that healthy thin people just don't think about food the same way as everyone else. In this 8 part series, I'll reveal Prevention's 8 secrets of naturally thin people one by one.

They Realize Hunger Isn't An Emergency: Most of us who struggle with extra pounds tend to view hunger as a condition that needs to be cured--and fast, says Judith S. Beck, PhD, author of the new Beck Diet Solution. "If you fear hunger, you might routinely overeat to avoid it," she says. Thin people tolerate it because they know hunger pangs always come and go, buying them some time.

Emulate the Naturally Thin: Pick a busy day to purposely delay lunch by an hour or two. Or try skipping an afternoon snack one day. You'll see that you can still function just fine. Then next time you feel those grumbles, you'll hold off before making a beeline for the fridge.

More secrets revealed this week. Did you miss any? You can see all the secrets here.
Part One: 8 Secrets of the Naturally Thin

We all want to know what those naturally thin people are doing to stay so um, naturally thin. Prevention has discovered that healthy thin people just don't think about food the same way as everyone else. In this 8 part series, I'll reveal Prevention's 8 secrets of naturally thin people one by one.

They Choose Satisfied Instead of Stuffed: On a fullness scale of 1 to 10, the slim stop eating at a level of 6 or 7, says Jill Fleming, RD, author of Thin People Don't Clean Their Plates. The rest of us may keep going to an 8 or 10. Why? It may be because you mistakenly equate the sensation of fullness with satisfaction and feel deprived if you stop short, says Fleming. Or you may just be used to finishing what's in front of you, regardless of whether you really need it.

Emulate The Naturally Thin: About halfway through your next meal, put your fork down and, using the 1 to 10 scale, rate your level of fullness. Do it again when you have about five bites left. The goal is to increase your awareness of how satisfied you feel during a meal. (Bonus: It also slows down your eating, which allows the sensation of fullness to settle in.)

Look out for the other secrets posted this week. Can't wait? Then check out Prevention.com.

NurturMe's Caroline Freedman: An Easy Way to Get Lil Ones to Eat Their Fruits and Veggies!

As a soon-to-be first-time mom, a pregnant Caroline Freedman was obsessed with all things baby (sound familiar?), including what she would eventually feed her new lil one once she advanced past breast milk and bottles. "I was shocked at how little innovation there had been since I was a baby. It was still Gerber jarred foods," says Austin, TX-based Freedman, now mom to a 3-year-old and a 4-month-old. "Considering how parents are eating a lot differently now, it seemed so out of sync."

Freedman, along with her business partner Lauren McCullough (a former culinary arts teacher) decided to do something about the discrepancy. The result: NurturMe, the first certified organic, all-natural, gluten-free baby food made from quick-dried fruits and veggies. If a dehydrated baby food isn't inventive enough - each pouch is light as a feather and makes about 2.5 ounces of baby food when mixed with water, breast milk, or formula - NurturMe has yet another selling point: it's also an easy way to sneak fruits and veggies into older tots' meals. Keep reading for more from our interview with Freedman.

Although green tea tends to get most of the credit when it comes to health benefits, white tea is actually the least processed form of tea. Translation: it contains even more nutrients than the black or green varieties. Curious? Keep reading to learn more about white tea.

If You're Craving Girl Scout Cookies, Try These Instead

It's Girl Scout Cookie time! Noshing on these fund-raising treats seems like an American pastime, but it can be challenging to keep a snack session of these seasonal sweets in check. If you can enjoy your cookies in a reasonable manner, then good for you! But if you're looking for a way to scratch that sugary itch without killing your healthy eating agenda, here are some healthier alternatives.

Do-Si-Dos
Two-cookie serving: 120 calories, five grams of fat, seven grams of sugar

Quick Fix: The Larabar Peanut Butter Cookie is a perfect substitute since it's so filling - I usually only eat half of a bar at a time. One bar contains 220 calories, seven grams of protein, and four grams of fiber. Made out of dried dates, one bar equals one half serving of fruit. There are 18 grams of sugar in this bar, but the sugar content is not added; it naturally occurs in the dates. The other two ingredients in this bar are peanuts and salt.

DIY Fix: Make your own tasty peanut butter treat! Blend a little peanut butter, apple sauce, and raisins for a sweet, satisfying, and nutritious homemade spread. Two tablespoons of this peanut butter raisin spread offers almost five grams of protein and two grams of fiber.

Don't see your fave cookie? Keep on reading!

Creamy Swiss Chard Soup With Vegetables

Creamy wintry soup can have a lot of calories, but reader JuicyNoelle slashes the fat by using cauliflower puree instead of cream in her recipe for Swiss chard soup, which she posted in our Healthy Recipe group.

I love thick and creamy vegetable soups. But I don’t always love the calories. So this week I decided to substitute heavy cream with a smooth cauliflower puree instead. If you are looking for a healthy lunch or dinner meal, give this simple soup a try.

A sleeker, stronger body could be just a tweet or a Facebook post away
By Jamie Beckman

One of the best tools for peeling off pounds is already in your bag: It's your smartphone or iPad. In fact, all that texting, tweeting, and posting - the average woman spends more than 80 minutes a day on her phone, according to a recent report from the mobile apps analytics firm Flurry - can tip the scales in your favor.

And one in three of us are already using social sites like Facebook to get slender, reports research from the University of Arizona. So go ahead and steal these suggestions from women who took their shape-up viral.

Tweet Your Way Thin
Nancy Tessier, 50, lost 28 pounds by posting all her meals and snacks to Tweet What You Eat (@twye), an online food journal that lets others eyeball your noshes. "Sometimes it was a lot easier to decide not to eat something than to have to tweet it for the world to see," she says.

Posting your weight-loss numbers can help, too. The University of Arizona research suggests that women who reveal shape-up victories on a weekly basis trim down faster than those who update less frequently. If you're feeling shy, think up a Twitter handle and upload a cartoon character as your avatar so you can share the skinny without feeling self-conscious.

Health.com: Diet Tricks the Pros Tell Their Friends

Gain a Following
Get some virtual support pronto by following Twitter hash tags like #fitblog. Carla Shorts, 27, started chiming in on #fitblog's weekly live chats - and dropped from a size 12 to a size 6 in just a year. "When my weight loss reached a plateau, having women point out that my 30-minute elliptical routine wasn't going to cut it anymore was key," she says. "I started running and began to lose again."

You can also start your own hashtag, like Sherry Pagoto, 38, from Massachusetts, did with #plankaday, a challenge to spend at least a minute in plank pose each day.

Find more ways your phone can help you lose weight after the break.

Currently Coveting: The Johansson Dresser

I'm a huge fan of walnut and bright colors, so it's only natural that I'm majorly attracted to this gorgeous Johansson Dresser from Khouri Guzman Bunce Limited.
The piece is made from a thin skin of lacquered aluminum, which encases a dresser constructed of walnut burl exteriors and solid walnut interiors. Each drawer features handmade glides and milled copper pulls. Bright pops of color contrast gorgeously with the rich walnut burl. While the dresser is shown here in both fire engine red and kelly green, you can specify individual finish color and custom size when ordering the dresser.

Khouri Guzman Bunce Limited is made up of David Khouri and Roberto Guzma of design firm Comma, as well as Christiaan Bunce of Girth Design. The three are now the driving force behind KGB Limited, and their new line of handcrafted American furniture can be seen at KGB Limited's new showroom in Chelsea's Gallery District.

Mixing modern design with timeless craftsmanship, KGB Limited uses materials ranging from Pyrex to fumed white oak. If you're in the area, make sure to stop by in person, or peruse all of KGB Limited's gorgeous designs online.

5 Expert Tips For Getting Your Arches in Shape

We are delighted to present this post from guest writer and celebrity makeup artist, Brett Freedman.

Coming from a fashion background, it was a given that the young models on a shoot would need their brows shaped. Models, unlike actresses, have little or no say in how they ultimately made up and styled. But actresses were so appreciative when I did their brows that I did find it odd. I never thought to ask if it was OK or even to test the interest level. It seemed nobody wanted to mess up a brow on a famous face, or, in this day and age, get sued! I didn't care; if I saw something and I could make it better, I dug in! I became so known for brows that I started my own line, Vanitymark. So I'm going to share a few of my best brow tips with you so your 2012 will be the year you finally get the gorgeous arches you deserve. See how when you read more.
