To celebrate National Nutrition Month, why not put a nutritionist in your pocket? Or at least the next best thing: the 2009 CalorieKing Calorie, Fat and Carbohydrate Counter ($9). This handy book, which fits perfectly into a purse, is like all of my food breakdowns times 10.

Just in time for National Nutrition Month, one very good website is getting even better. The GoodGuide, a directory of healthy and eco-friendly products I first read about on lilsugar, has expanded its reach to include food ratings.
With a database of more than 5,000 food products — including fresh produce and packaged goods — GoodGuide helps you make buying decisions based on a product's environmental impact, healthfulness, and social responsibility, including workplace issues.

National Nutrition Month encourages us to eat right, and I think it's easier to add more healthy food when you know how it's benefiting your body. Increase your enjoyment by learning how different foods are working to enhance your health. Can you match the food to its benefit?

It is National Nutrition Month and time for us all to rededicate ourselves to eating right. One simple way to improve your diet is to make sure you're eating five or more servings of fruits and veggies a day.
Before eating, I like to add up how many servings of fruits and veggies I have eaten already for the day.

It is National Nutrition Month and I feel like celebrating with a quiz! Here is a quiz about brown foods (sugar, eggs, rice, etc.) and if they are always healthier than their white counter parts. Take the quiz and see if brown foods are always better for you.

There is so much nutritional information out there to process and at times it just gets overwhelming. Since, March is National Nutrition month I thought I would go see a nutritionist to help me weed through all the information and get some personalized info too. Let me tell you it was a pretty cool experience.

There is a lot of buzz surrounding our kids and what they eat at school, since most of us agree that tater-tots are not in fact a vegetable. Wouldn't it be great if we could just get our kids to eat more fruit by doing something as simple as asking them a question?
Turns out there is and it's as simple as this: Want fruit?

Recent reports are showing that while most of us know the benefits of eating enough fruits and vegetables in a day, we aren't actually eating them. In fact only 32.6 percent of adults are eating fruit two or more times per day, and only 27.2 percent are eating vegetables three or more times a day. The recommended amount is currently at least five (fruits or veggies, or both) a day.

March is National Nutrition Month (here are some quizzes to test your nutritional knowledge) and since the month is about to go "out like a lamb" I thought a short interview with a nutritionist would be a great way to end our celebration of the month.
I met with nutritionist Rania Batayneh, MPH, of Essential Nutrition For You. I had a lot of questions for her and she in turn had some really great answers.
