Fittingly Mad: Kardashians to Release Quick Trim Diet Product

After months of establishing herself as a curve-loving fitness convert with her own line of videos, Kim Kardashian is taking her body business to another level. And I don't like where it's headed. Kim's sister Khloe told US magazine that the two will share more than a reality show - they'll soon be launching a diet product together called Quicktrim.

There's not much information about this product just yet, but Kim is starting to spread the word on her Twitter and wrote, "Our Quicktrim cleanse will be massive! Khloe has already lost so much weight! I'm so proud of her." I'm all for sisterly support, but anything that contains the words quick, trim, and cleanse makes me see a whole lot of red flags. Healthy, lasting weight loss can't be achieved through a quick fix.

It really gets my goat that these ladies are out there discussing how hard they've been working at losing weight through diet and exercise alone, but if I'm taking Kim's tweet to heart, they're not being completely honest. There seems to be quite a bit of hypocrisy in the Kardashians' newest undertaking - what do you think?

Kim Kardashian Slims Down With a Macrobiotic Diet

Kim Kardashian has been on a health kick recently, eating better and upping her workouts. In a recent issue of Us Weekly, this E! reality star explained how she slimmed down from a size 6 to a size 2 (not that she needed to) for filming her three-part fitness DVD series titled Fit in Your Jeans by Friday ($15 each). Kim hasn't always been a fan of the gym - she loves her feminine curves. She realized she had to work out in order to keep them. Maintaining a certain weight won't do the trick - she has to do exercises that tone and sculpt her body.

If you want to hear about her workouts and her healthy diet, then read more.

To tighten and tone, Kim worked out daily for at least two hours, and sometimes did two workouts in one day. Each workout started with a peppy warmup, then she moved on to cardio using five-pound weights. She was a fan of doing squats and lunges to target her lower body. She finished with ab-toning exercises and stretching.

As for her daily diet, she used to indulge in burgers and fries, but now she avoids heavy carbs. Kim eats macrobiotic foods including tofu, veggie burgers, soy cheese, and quinoa. A macrobiotic diet is low in fat, high in fiber, and is predominantly vegan. It includes beans, nuts, a small amount of fish, local fruit, and emphasizes whole grains and vegetables, so it's super healthy. Not only did this type of diet help Kim slim down, but it's also believed to help balance female hormones to help with menopause, premenstrual syndrome, and prevention against breast cancer and endometriosis. Have you ever tried a macrobiotic diet?

We all have areas of our body that are weaker than others, and Kim Kardashian admits that just like a lot of us, "I don't have lots of upper body strength." Us Weekly says she's in the process of filming her own fitness video so she wants to tone up those arms. To do so, she's using a Toning Ring ($30). It's also called a magic circle, Pilates circle, or toning circle. She's hoping "to help build my muscle strength and tone my arms at the same time." There are a ton of resistance training exercises you can do using this flexible toning ring to not only target your upper body, but to also work your thighs, core, and glutes. It's a great tool to add to your home gym as a complement to your strength training routine.

Fit Tip: If you already have a ring and are looking for new exercises to learn, check out the Winsor Pilates 20 Minutes Circle Workout DVD ($15). It targets your entire body with an emphasis on toning your abs.

Will You Buy Kim's Workout Video?

Despite the rumors that Kim Kardashian has had a little work done, I'll be the first to say that I think she has a great figure. Kim and her awesome trainer Kathy Kaehler have recently launched a new workout DVD called Kim's Body Beautiful ($25), which is apparently the workout that Kathy created for Kim while she's traveling and at home. If you don't want the full video you can buy single workout videos downloadable for $5.

Me, I'll try anything once but what about you? Will you buy Kim's workout video?

Kim Kardashian Resolves to Eat Healthy in 2008

Newly engaged Kim Kardashian resolves to keep the good in her life in 2008 but get rid of the bad when it comes to food choices. What's the item she'll be cutting out first? Deep-fried oreos. Much like many of us, Kim's number one resolution for 2008 is to change her unhealthy eating habits. Here's more.

"I need to start eating responsibly. It's time to eat right," she says. Although Kardashian exercises regularly, she says her eating habits are her downfall. "I get enough exercise," she says. "My problem is that I eat like crap." Although Kardashian doesn't have a specific diet plan in mind, she says she knows how to eat healthy. "I know what's good for me and what isn't," she says. "It's just a matter of making the right choices."

Sound familiar? It does to me since I have the same sentiments about this year. I also know what is good for me and what is not; the real challenge is making sure I aim to choose the healthiest choices this year. What about you?

Get the Bod: Kim Kardashian

Whether or not you agree with Kim Kardashian's career moves (sex tape, playboy, etc.), she does look great and she actually does have curves. Her trainer, Kathy Kaehler, opened up to reveal what exactly Kim did to get picture perfect for her recent Playboy shoot.

In addition to using the elliptical trainer and walking every day, she followed this toning program:

Lunges. Start by standing up straight with your hands at your sides. Take a big step forward with your right leg, lowering the body until your right thigh is parallel to the floor. Straighten back up and repeat on the left side. Do three sets of 10 repetitions with each leg.

Sit-down squats. Start by standing in front of a chair and then sit down on the seat and stand back up. Do three sets of 15 reps.

There's more to her toning program so read more

Arm and leg opposition. Start on the floor on your hands and knees. Lift the right arm up and extend the left leg back so that both are parallel to the floor. Keep your abs tight and hold for 30 seconds. Repeat with the opposite arm and leg.

Push-ups. If you can’t do military push-ups in good form, modify your technique by pushing up from your knees. Do three sets of 10 reps.

Triceps dips. Position yourself in front of a sturdy chair so that your arms are behind you with your palms grabbing the edge of the seat. Scoot your legs out in front. Now lower your upper body until your upper arms are parallel to the floor and then press back up. Do two sets of 12 reps.

Are the Kardashians' QuickTrim Diet Products Quackery?

A very pregnant Kourtney Kardashian is having a hard time accepting her baby weight. Slim sis Kim says that "Kourtney is going crazy. She feels so big right now. She's just ready to have the baby." According to Us Weekly, sisters Kim and Khloe are both dieting with their QuickTrim diet products and expectant mom Kourtney is jealous because she sees how they're both losing weight.

I've got to admit that I'm sick of hearing about the Kardashians, and now they're promoting this diet product and proving that it works. Ever wonder what it is exactly, or if it's even healthy? My gut says it's not, so I decided to check out the website to see what I could dig up. Here's what I found: QuickTrim Fast Cleanse ($30) is a "lemonade flavored drink designed to help rid the body of excess water weight, belly bloating, and intestinal bulk." So are you supposed to drink these magic citrus beverages all day and that's it?

To hear more about QuickTrim and what the ingredients are, read more.

The Fast Cleanse drink I just described is one product made by QuickTrim. It contains many ingredients including pure lemon juice concentrate, chicory root (fiber), and aloe vera gel. Although it's made with natural ingredients, detoxing your body isn't necessary.

QuickTrim makes two other diet supplements, but these are in tablet form: Extreme Burn ($50) and Burn & Cleanse ($60). Extreme Burn claims to burn up to 8,000 extra calories per month. Burn & Cleanse is a 14-day diet system that promises to burn calories all day, and cleanse and detox you all night. They're made with ingredients such as cocoa extract, acai fruit extract, hyssop, false unicorn root, and green tea leaf extract. Sounds like a witch's potion to me. But at least you're instructed to take these tablets between meals, not in place of them.

These pills are supposed to stimulate your metabolism, maintain your blood sugar levels, burn fat and calories, and contain antioxidants to promote a happy mood. Safety-wise, QuickTrim products are not FDA-approved, so I'd skip them completely and save your moolah to buy things you know will help shed pounds, like a gym membership or fresh fruits and veggies. If you're trying to lose weight, don't fall for this quick-fix diet scam. As I've said before, the safest and most effective way to slim down is with a healthy diet and regular exercise.

Do You Have Cellulite?

It's estimated that 80 percent of the female population has cellulite. While it's hard to embrace our dimply thighs, celeb trainer Jillian Michaels and starlet Kim Kardashian have both publicly admitted to having cellulite. During bikini season it's difficult to hide from the fact that most of us have some, but that also means it's not something we necessarily need to hide. Tell me . . .

5 Things: Cellulite

Celeb trainer Jillian Michaels is no stranger to cellulite. And neither is starlet Kim Kardashian. In fact it is estimated that between 80 to 95 percent of women have cellulite somewhere on their body. If you have been worrying about of bit of dimpling on your backside, fear not, because you are not alone. Here are five things I think you should know about cellulite.

From a purely medical standpoint cellulite doesn't exist; it is nothing more than fat. The word cellulite is French and was first used in medical literature around 150 years ago.

Cellulite is more prominent in women than in men due to the structural differences of stored fat between the sexes. The connective tissues that create these storage units in men works on diagonals, where as we lucky ladies store our fat in a large vertical honeycomb like structure. This structural form enhances the appearance of the dimples.

Here's the bad news – there is no way to get rid of cellulite. None of those creams, lotions or rubs will get rid of the dimples caused by cellulite. Topical creams cannot penetrate the three layers of skin to eliminate the fat.

Learn what you can do about cellulite.
