Yea my sister has to do this with her first 2 kids who have behavioral problems. You also try to cut out as much processed food as possible, it actually helps so much you wouldn't believe!

I could never live without dairy. Well, I guess if my life depended on it, but I would never CHOOSE to eliminate it.

I agree with her about those packages of nuts from Starbucks, but they're hardly little - about three servings per pack! They work as a great way to curb hunger if you spread one out as a few snacks, though.

its always refreshing to see a celebrity with a healthy body that isn't skin and bones. this woman has an amazing body, she looks better than most people half her age! this is inspiration for me!

JJones - I agree that it sounds like she is eating very little, however I think magazines have a tendancy to gloss over the specifics of what a diet usually entails and leaves things out (which is terrible because people read it and think that all they have to do is purree fish and vegetables -which sounds terrible btw- and they will be skinny too). I hope so at least because although she is eating some good things, calcium and protien appears to be extremely lacking.

Just FYI, she's not necessarily lacking in protein and calcium. Egg whites and fish are protein sources, as are nuts. Given how much fruit/veg she's eating, she could be getting enough calcium. Calcium doesn't just come from dairy, despite what the "got milk" ads would have you believe. I don't think her diet sounds off in any way at all -- if you eat a well-rounded diet with a variety of produce, you probably don't need supplements.

It seems irresponsible to promote anything this anti-vaccination nutcase does.

I gave up dairy and it's not as hard as you'd think. REALLY helped me with allergies and weight issues.

Her diet sounds alright- I agree that the magazine probably left out specifics, which doesn't help the rest of us!

Also, I hope she's getting enough fat- I know the nuts and fish have some, as well as avocado and maybe oils she uses to cook the fish? But healthy fats are super important, especially if you go low-carb like she is.

Humans do not get all their calcium from milk! When are americans going to wake up? we drink our mothers milk for a few months then we eat solid food; we are the only species that drink another animal's milk? why? even calf stop drinking their mother's milk at some point. The milk industry has led us to believe we need their product to line their pockets...living gluten and dairy free is beneficial. There are plenty other ways to get calcium...she is a smart woman who has done research out of necessity to improve her child's life and it is commendable that she practices what she preaches.

Ugh a smart woman. NO, she has done NO legitimate research. She is NOT an expert. She uses Google. There is no connection between diet and improving autism symptoms. Autism is more prevalent because we diagnose it properly and recognize many more levels of the disorder as part of the spectrum. Vaccines do not cause autism. I agree, it is terribly irresponsible to give this woman any coverage. Children are getting and dying from completely preventable diseases because their parents listen to fools like her when there has been countless real studies that show no link between autism and vaccines. You'd be surprised to know how much the supposed (paid) physicians, (paid) experts and (paid) lawyers used shoddy science, if you can even call it that. Sigh, will this never end? It just takes away the focus from the most important thing: the patients and their families.

I have to eat gluten and dairy free for health reasons (celiac disease). And you can really get a well balanced diet if you eat enough fruit, veggies, meats, eggs, and nuts. Granted, it's not an easy diet to follow, but in the long run it's probably better for you than eating all the foods with additives (most processed food have to be eliminated because of gluten or cross-contamination). And supplements are a must, especially for calcium! (And eggs are dairy but they don't contain milk products! That's why she eats eggs)

FYI - eggs are not dairy.. they are an animal byproduct.. and considered to be poultry. Also, this woman is seriously misinformed.. vaccinations are not linked to autism whatsoever, and recently, it came to light that the doctor who first linked the two fudged his reports - basically he greatly exaggerated the "connection". a diet cannot effect autism.. i used to like jenny.. but she is spreading some serious false information.. and putting everyones' children at risk by not vaccinating - she is ignorant as all hell.

I stopped eating dairy in an attempt to be healthier. Since doing so, I feel better and I don't get gassy stomach aches anymore!
