I think the easiest breakfast option in the world is a bowl of
cereal. But just because it is an easy option, doesn't mean it has to be unhealthy. I like starting my day off with a cereal that is high in fiber; it helps keep me full and helps me reach the recommended 30 gram mark for daily intake of fiber.

There's something about football season that brings big groups together. I love watching games with a group of friends, but it can do a number on my hard work at eating healthy. One thing I have realized is that it's difficult to keep track of how much I've eaten if I'm eating out of the same bowl, or bag, as my football buddies.

Cravings happen to the best of us and they're hard to ignore. One of the best ways to get rid of a craving is to give in to your craving, but just a little. Allow yourself to indulge in a food every once in a while, and don't go overboard.

Sometimes it's hard to eat enough fruits and vegetables each day. Many of us would eat more produce if we had it right in front of us and this could not be more true for me. Over here at Sugar HQ, we have fruit delivered into the office and I know I eat more yummy fresh fruits (not to mention more of a variety) because of it.

How much water have you had today? The
eight glasses a day theory has come under scrutiny, but we still need to stay hydrated, especially if we exercise and/or live in a hot, dry climate.
But there's another reason you want to keep hydrated;
studies have found that folks who stay on top of their water intake actually consume fewer calories.

Summer, even as it's waning, puts me in the mood for fruit. I tend to overbuy or misjudge the appetites of my darling (read sometimes soooooo picky) daughters, so much of my tasty fruit tends to get overly ripe before I have a chance to eat it. If you can relate, save your about-to-spoil fruit by prewashing, peeling (if necessary), and dicing all your bananas, berries, peaches, kiwi, and melons.

When you're trying to watch what you eat,
brown-bagging it at work is a huge help. But let's face it: Not everyone has time to pack a lunch every night or morning before work. So why not start a lunch club at your office?

We all know that keeping a
food journal is one of the best ways to keep calories at bay on a daily basis. But for those of use who just aren't the journaling type, you may want to try a similar trick that requires a bit less effort.
Just write down the last thing you ate on a Post-it and stick it somewhere you'll see it the next time you reach for food (fridge, desk drawer, etc.).

We're all trying to figure out ways to pack in the most fruits and vegetables in a day, but going with the creamed veggies may not be the best choice. Creamed corn, spinach, and cream of mushroom soup may be delicious, but the extra cream can really take away from the healthy factor.
If possible, go with the pure form of the veggie.

Eating between meals, has definitely gotten a bad rap, but snacking can be good for you. Many nutritionist think we should
eat at least every four to five hours. So if you eat lunch at noon and dinner at 8:00, you're going to need a snack to make it through the long afternoon.
