The Top 10 Healthiest Jobs

Ever wonder if your job is healthy or not? Mine is kind of funny - blogging is considered relatively unhealthy (sitting in front of a computer typing, all day long), however blogging about health and fitness sort of negates that fact. At least I hope it does.

Point is, some jobs are considered healthier than others. So here are the most healthy jobs you can have based on if it is athletics-related or if it promotes a balanced, wholesome workplace environment (not including professional athletic sports):

Activity Specialist

Chiropractor

Choreographer

Florist

Massage Therapist

Nutritionist

Personal Trainer

Professor

Running Coach

Yoga Instructor

Do you do any of the above jobs? If so, share why it is (or isn't) as healthy as it sounds.

Source

The Upside and Downside to Creating Porn With Your Partner

On the season two premiere of Our America With Lisa Ling last night, Lisa explored the growing underground world of amateur porn. And perhaps the most surprising porn entrepreneurs interviewed were the couples who aren't just together on camera, they're in committed relationships in real life as well. There were a couple of young parents who do porn to support their family, Tyler and Berkley, and a 50-year-old woman, Ciara, who performs while her husband of 20 years, Patrick, films her. But does the couple who creates porn together stay together?

For Tyler and Berkley, who film themselves having sex together five nights a week, the money they get from their online amateur porn (about $1,000 a week) goes toward supporting their toddler and is a means to an end. But they admit that they've stopped having sex outside of work because their night job is a "sex killer." And they hope by the time their daughter is old enough to ask questions they'll have moved on. In their case, creating porn seems to be a drain on their relationship and probably not the healthiest environment for raising a family.

Ciara and Patrick, on the other hand, say that since they've started their porn business a year ago their relationship in the bedroom has gotten better, and that they are now more open to trying new things. Patrick seems to really love filming and photographing his wife, and she loves getting in touch with her sexy side. The only downside? Their family and friends have no idea what they're doing behind closed doors, and now that the show has exposed the truth, they don't know if they'll be accepted by their loved ones.

If you were desperate for cash, or just looking to spice things up in your relationship, would you ever consider filming you and your partner having sex for money?

3 Healthy Ways to Make Your Work Day Healthier

Even though your job might not be the healthiest if you sit all day long, eat out for lunch daily, and can't resist the treats that call to you from the break room, you can still make healthy choices on the job. Here are some quick things you should do at work to improve your health and well-being.

Brush after your morning coffee: Sure you brush your teeth at home before heading to work, but what about that morning cup of joe you're sipping on during your commute? Keep a toothbrush and toothpaste at work and hit the ladies room after finishing your hot beverage to prevent stained teeth. The sugar in your coffee, especially when coupled with the dry mouth often associated with caffeine consumption, can create an environment that promotes tooth decay. Consider brushing those chompers after lunch - that clean minty feel in your mouth is sure to prevent you from snacking when you're not hungry.

Take your meetings for a walk: Whether on a conference call or meeting one-on-one, slip on your sneaks and walk while you talk. Twenty minutes of walking will burn calories, give you fresh air, improves mental clarity, and revs up your energy. If you can't head outside, walk up and down the stairs in your building.

Disinfect your desk every morning: Now that we've jumped into cold and flu season, it's time to be extra vigilant about germs. Grab an antibacterial wipe and take a couple minutes to degermify the things you touch daily like your keyboard, mouse, water bottle, and phone.

Fact: You Wear Perfume to Make Your BO Even Stronger

Ever wondered why other people are so bad at picking out perfume for you, or how you just instinctively know when a scent is "right"? New research from Charles University in Prague suggests that we pick scents to amplify our body odor, not cover it up. And since every person's BO is unique (like a grimy, noisome snowflake), other people tend to do a bad job of picking scents for us, while we almost immediately know which ones will work.

Why on earth are we doing this in the first place, though? To find the right mate, of course. Our sweat broadcasts a bunch of signals about everything from our health to what kind of immune protections we have. People with different-but-not-too-different immune complexes produce the healthiest babies, so we're always trying to sniff out that special someone who has everything we need: good health, a great smile, and that bubonic plague immunity gene we're missing.

5 Reasons Your Job Is Making You Fat

Considering that many of us spend 40 hours (or more) at a desk each week, it's no wonder that work is a major strike against a healthy lifestyle. It's bad enough that we're sitting all day, but there are other work-related factors that contribute to an expanding waistline. Curious? Keep reading to find out why your job may be your diet's worst enemy.

You Sit at Your Desk All Day - Going to the bathroom and grabbing lunch just doesn't cut it! Remember to get up from your desk often - this will help release your muscles while also giving your seated posture and eyes a break. Use this time to either walk around the office or stretch. Some other ideas to keep you moving: walk to a colleague's desk instead of sending an email; ask to have a "walking meeting" outside instead of in a conference room; and take the stairs over the elevator. We're also fond of quick workouts that you can do during your lunch break like going for a run, power walk, or 30-minute gym session.

Happy Hour (or TV Time) Is Your Go-To Post-Work Activity - After a long day at work, the call of happy hour or a Project Runway marathon may seem like all you can muster. Instead of going from sitting all day at your desk to sitting on a bar stool or your couch, make time for something active. Keep a gym bag stashed under your desk as a visual reminder to hit the elliptical after work, or make a date with a friend to go to a yoga class. And because everyone deserves the occasional happy hour, schedule it for after your workout and choose these diet-friendly cocktails.
